I had my wedding reception at this hotel when it was still a holiday Inn , next store was one of the best places to eat Mountain Jacks.

Thanks for sharing! I want to say that Mountain Jack’s was either a former Shoney’s or Western Sizzlin.

I was in this area last August for a wedding. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Right across the parking lot. It was really nice. However the next day we left for another hotel. My room was right across from this Days Inn, lt look so creepy at night. One room still had lights on😳. The whole area was so dark at night. Street full of potholes. The mall had one barbershop inside not much else. We did have a great meal at Texas Roadhouse. It was just too dark at night.

Damn, I used to stay in this hotel all the time when I was traveling to my lake house in Northern Michigan. I have always loved the sixties architecture of the place and always thought it was a cool hotel (idk why I thought that). Makes me sad seeing where I spent 2 days of my summer every year up until 2017 like this. I miss the Pitstop Pancakes when it was a Holiday Inn.
One of my favorite memories was waking up early with my father the next morning and walking around the Midway Mall, especially that Sears.
So long old hotel, thank you for the memories that you gave me and my family.

Same: we used to stop overnight here on the way to visit family in Chicago, mid 80's to early 90's. As a little kid I loved the outdoor pool, which was in the courtyard (there was no indoor pool). There was a poolside tiki hut that served adult beverages, and Shirley Temples for us kids! In that time this hotel was really nice, and under Holiday Inn ownership. The whole place was immaculate, and the restaurant was very good.
The Midway Mall had these big funky-shaped stainless steel-colored sculptures hanging from the ceiling in the main court, and we'd always go to the Friendly's for ice cream. Good times!
Indeed, so long, old hotel, thank you for the memories you gave me and my family too!

2:58 I like how the pool says 0 inches now. Smart of them really so no one comes in to take a dip.

@5:00 Sears Automotive is the big building in the background that matches the Sears building architecture next door. There was a restaurant (then turned into a gentleman's club which is stretching the term) that was torn down in between. My neighbor was a manager at this Days Inn when it was originally Holiday Inn with the classic sign. I'll check out some other videos.

Thanks. Interesting information. If I had to guess, the restaurant used to be a Shoney’s judging by the building design.

@@slackingpacking yeah that empty lot between Days Inn and Sears Automotive was the restaurant turned seriously criminal nightclub that was shut down along with Days Inn which I think the cops frequented. My friend's Grandpa had a B-day party in a big room i n the front when it was the respectable restaurant. I'll have to ask if he remembers the name. It wasn't a chain from what I recall or if it was then it was a locally owned place. It had a bar. His Grandma had one of her B-days at Holiday Inn/Days Inn. I went to both of those. It's been a looong time. This was a nice look inside the windows.

@@slackingpacking I asked my friend. He said it was Mountain Jack's restaurant. It was a restaurant chain of 21 restaurants that filed for bankruptcy in 2008. When he said the name I remembered it. Edit: It looks like there's 9 left. 1 near Cleveland in North Olmsted the rest in Michigan. The food was good from what I recall.

Interesting. I remember staying here years ago with a large school tour group... was a rather nice Holiday Inn at the time. I dont think that indoor pool was there at that time, but there was a huge outdoor pool in a big courtyard in the middle of the complex with lots of tables and chairs and lounge chairs around the pool.
