For the super generous this is the donate link (amazingly people requested it to be posted here!) www.sortofinte...
I’m starting an n gauge due to lack of space so it was great to see what you did
Instead of watching a train chasing its tail around an oval layout, consider a tram! As a matter of fact, your passing siding is perfoect for accommodating two trams! And you have a sidng for a carhouse!
great stuff dan..i have just done a 4 by 2 feet 8 inches layout in oo gauge....amazing what i have crammed on....good to see you up and running..ade
Slow that train down geez.
Maybe a race track set might be more your speed.
Nice layout you got.Thumbs up to you..Hope you like mine diesel dave's
Tell ya what the Small layout is Gonna grow trust me it’s gonna get larger.
Looks like a great start. I've always found modular railways involve too many compromises, and often don't look good either individually or in combination.
I look forward to seeing where you take this.
If you can't have your layout on a narrowboat, have you considered putting a narrowboat (and canal) on your layout?
The n gauge looks good I thought it might be a bit too teeny tiny!
There are several suggestions for building a railroad layout yourself
Find a suitable set of plans online
Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have someone to encourage you
(I learned these and the reasons they work on Jareks Hobby Club website )
N gauge isn't as small as you think and you can do a lot more with it like run realistic consists in the same space as compromised 00 gauge consists!
The desk looks like a desk Argos used to sell called The Walton
That 2' by 4' N gauge layout looks similar to what a OO gauge 4' by 2' might be. I have never tried N gauge, but it looks as if it might be a good idea for those who like to see trains running in a confined space. Not sure whether or not N would be good for a shunting layout, though.
Some fine grass reinvigoration skills you have there and what was that I saw in the background, it wasn't 'my narrowboat life from beginning to end by you Daniel Mark Brown' was it?!
Love your train I have some videos as well of mine.
I like the scissor, otherwise difficult to grasp the scale (for me at least:-)
What is the size of the table btw?
This is a 2x4 foot desk, if you take a look at my recent videos, I've almost completed a simpler layout even than this!
@@SortOfInterestingTrains Thanks!! 🙏
I wonder if You could possibly add hinges in the rails so you can fold it up or something, just a thought probably not possible.
Looks good mate
Who is the manufacturer of the train and track
Great start looking forward to your progress if you need any advice or help give me a shout
It will get Bigger it’s true.
Hooray , Great to see some progress after all this time - hope to see some more soon!
First of all, always nice to see a Schools class running around (always tempted by that livery), and am also personally finding out all the issues of modular setups for one of my layouts and do agree, sometimes it's not really worth it if you can get away with just a single board.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the layout.

Hi Dan love your books.......sorry I meant to say youtube videos I am brand new to railway modelling I am 67 years young its never to late to learn, keep up the work Jim Crawford Portobello Edinburgh.
Take the wire dip it flux. Put it in a clip. Take the soldier and iron place the iron on soldier wire once you see melt on the tip touch it to the wire you want to soldier. As soon as the flux start to cook add some soldier to the wire keep heat from iron on wire not soldier. And watch the soldier fill the wire. Test a few single wires before you twist cpl together to soldier. You'll pick it up quickly and easily this way.
The layout looks great Dan and runs very well.
Yay
I live in an apartment and want to build a temporary layout on my dining table (40"x60") but it needs to be removable so I can still use the dining table. I created a plan using Kato's M1 and V9 sets. This creates a figure eight with two tracks that cross over. The base will be a painted table cloth for grass, roads, dirt, gravel, etc. in the middle of the layout will be a small town using DPM's Town & Factory set plus a few other buildings. There is one intersection and the builds ae glued to a thin plastic rectangle with decor (people, street lights, signs etc all glued to the "sidewalk" city block. This way, a block with buildings and decor can be removed and stored. Trees will be glued to "islands" with grasses and bushes so they may be removed as a unit. I'm still at the beginning stage, but I think it will work fine. I like your layout. I hope you do more videos about it. Good luck.
I'm getting a M1 set with a V6 outer loop and a V13 viaduct set that will fit nicely on my double bed during the day!
Get yourself allangley models narrowboat... looking good
A great looking layout can, wish mine was at this stage
Blimey it’s all happening isn’t it? Will be good to see more regular updates.
Maybe U Should Add Another Train And A Coach
Elevation on a layout is not a problem as long as you don't try to run trains over it.
You could add a 2nd loop, could have no sidings so a train can smoothly run around a loop while another can go through sidings
Lol i just rewatched your n gauge videos last night
That 2x4 is Gonna Grow.
He’s Probably using Atlas tracks.
Judging by the roadbed and turnouts, it looks like it may be Peco tracks.
I like this fella. Great info and yes keep it up, looking forward to more.
Nice, you earned yourself a sub
great stuf Dan
👍
What brand of track are you using?
Wrc Hobby I think Peco track
hello can you please buy some mk1 coaches so you also can pull coaches and i was watching you since you started with the scenery on your OO layout and keep up the good work
Yeah
