One of my favorite snacks growing up was "company popcorn". My dad would load the Stir Crazy popper with popcorn kernels and red hots cinnamon candies. The candies became molten cinnamon liquid at about the same time the popcorn started popping, resulting inbeautiful red and white cinnamon candy coated popcorn! We loved watching the candied kernels hit the bowl and turn to red and white fluff. It was a special treat only for when company was over, and even when I was tiny, maybe 3 or 4, I remember sniffing for that hot cinnamon candy scent late into the night and hoping there were bits left for us kids to nibble on in the morning. If you do another flavored popcorn video, try it!!!
Did you know: Popped kernels are referred to as flakes, and the two different shapes are called “butterfly” or “mushroom” There are hybrids of corn that produce either all mushroom, or all butterfly flakes. The round mushroom flakes are less fragile and that’s why it’s used the most for caramel corn!
That's so interesting! I never knew they had actual names for each of the shapes but I've always known I like the 'mushroom' shape better since there's more a bite to it.... more substantial to bite in to.
That glass gem corn is just unbelievably beautiful and surprising. It'd be fun to do something more interesting with it than cornmeal. There's a Vietnamese corn dessert that would look fantastic if made from that. Sugar is added so it might not matter that it isn't sweet corn. Sorry I don't have a recipe or even a name.
The first year my husband grew corn successfully, we woke up to our neighbor's 2 horses in the garden munching the ends of all the stalks! They didn't leave a single ear for us. My neighbor felt so bad, he brought us a bushel of potatoes...not quite the same but appreciated! From then on our garden fence was higher and sturdier which was smarter since we have deer and bear pretty constant. Rural Western Massachusetts here, loved your video like usual!
This reminds me of how I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on Korean sweet potato slips in the past several years and the deer keep eating all the vines and I’ve managed to grow ONE sweet potato out of all these years. Anyone for venison?

The thing that annoys me about these hack videos in particular is that the actual correct way of doing it is usually very easy and not time consuming. If you want chocolate popcorn, just makes popcorn and drizzle chocolate over it. That doesn't take much more time than throwing chocolate into the pan while popping the popcorn, and suprise suprise, it actually works and doesn't leave you with a burnt sticky mess. Like if the actual recipe is already easy why lie? I can understand why they would do that with complicated recipes, to make it seem easier than it actually is, but with an already easy recipe it makes so much more sense to do it right and not lie to people. Lying is awful regardless but it somehow feels worse for them to do it when it takes the same amount of energy to tell the truth. I guess a lot of the 'hacks' they suggest are more exciting than the regular way of doing it, and that gives people incentive to click and people like Emmy to try it out, but it's still such an awful thing to do.
I came here to say the same. It's a lot simpler to just melt chocolate and drizzle it on, and it actually works. Whoever comes up with this stuff likely does it for the clickbait, and then fakes that it "works" so people will try it.

If I add something like that when making popcorn, I first pre-cook the popcorn kernels until they are close to ready to pop. Then I add the additional thing, whatever it is, so it gives it time to melt but not enough time to really burn, and I also reduce the temperature at this time. I do not know if this would work with ice cream, as it is frozen and will reduce the temperature significantly while cooking. You'd have to have really good timing to add the ice cream in order for it not to burn, and your popcorn to start popping within a reasonable time. And I would also leave the ice cream to thaw out for a while, so it loses some of that coldness and is less frozen. This is how I make my buttery popcorn, which is famous among my family and friends. I'm in awe of the glass gem corn... first time seeing it
I like to pop popcorn in clarified butter and salt. without solids the butter can take the heat and you get a lightly buttered popcorn that is less greasy than adding melted butter after popping.
The moral of the story is to just let Emmy do the tiktok recipes because a lot of them don't really work and it's fun to watch her try them for us. :)
The glass gem corn….absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Wow
I make a chilli or taco flavor popcorn by adding 1tsp to 1tbl (depending on how much popcorn I'm making) of any brand of chilli/taco seasoning mix to the melted butter before tossing it. Then afterwards I taste it and can add more if it needs it.
Omg, them colours 😍 ❤ Beautiful 😍 💕
Your description of how popcorn pops is exactly the same as how coffee roasts.
I saw one of your videos saying how much you love jalapeños! I have been making candied jalapeños, also called cowboy candy, for years and I think you would really like it!! Highly suggest it for a video
Can we just take a second to appreciate how thorough she is explaining corn ❤️ this is awesome
Love your honesty.
Those cobs of corn are like art pieces!!
favorite topping is salt and grated chocolate on fresh hot popcorn 😍
There is nobody else who can describe a scent or flavor like Emmy. She's so amazing at that!
I brought dried corn for fall display, I wasn’t aware of the variety until you showed the glass gem corn.
I like that even in the face of charred nasty popcorn covered in burnt garbage chocolate, Emmy remains entirely positive and sweet. This is a woman who gets a parking ticket and is thankful for helping fund law enforcement and street repairs.
That corn really is gorgeous
That corn is so pretty.
We need a garden tour!!!
Emmy I've never seen such beautiful corn! Sooo pretty 😍
You can also pop quinoa. It looks like mini popcorn.
Nature is incredible I can’t believe glass gem corn is a thing!!

Fyi if you are gonna do stovetop popcorn, it turns out better if you crack the lid. Its a bit of a faff but you get much crunchier popcorn
