I bought a 660ti for 200 bucks when the best card you could get was the 780. Ive upgraded since the but that 660ti with a i-7 2700k cpu @ 3.4 ghz and an itel ssd will still run witcher 3 on medium settings.
I used to use a gt 710. Still have it actually. It was a good card back in the day and you can get games like MGSV running at high 30fps on it which is really impressive.

The passive graphics card cooler looks like the type used in a rack mounted mining rig, generally those have unidirectional fans which blow along the length of the heatsink fins from one end of the rack to the other.
Using GPU-Z is a great way to identify your graphics card and monitor its sensors. I used it in particular when setting my custom fan curve in MSI Afterburner.
That heatsink looks like it's for a normal passively-cooled 1-slot card. In a server case the airflow would be directed along the axis of the card, flowing between the fins to cool the heatsink. My guess as to what happened: 1. Somebody bought a 750 Ti from China and received a scam card which was actually a 550 Ti. 2. They got a refund from EBay or wherever but were permitted to keep the scam card. 3. They now had a scam card which they had no use for, and so decided to sell it. 4. It's illegal to sell counterfeit products. So they ripped off the scam shroud/cooler and replaced it with a random cooler they had that sort of fit, which in this case was a passive server card's. Then they flashed it with the genuine 550 Ti firmware to make it usable. Now, nothing on the card claims it's anything other than what it is (a damaged and refurbished 550 Ti), so it's legal to sell and usable. 5. You bought it.

Stripping down the card just to get the vendor/name is a bit overkill. watching the pcb layout or software wise the vendor and product id should be sufficient (device manager or hardware tools). About the temperatures: I have a Gainward 560ti and that beast runs hot, even more at the cooler since I replaced the thermal paste. Nothing to use in daily use, but as I collect video cards, that's not important 🙂.

I think that's a Zotac 550ti with the fan and housing removed, the Zotac card appears to have the same heatsink. my guess is the seller removed the fans and fan housing to sell separately, because nobody would make a card like that:/ Also the good performance(in games) is likely your CPU being high end.

To fix the heating issue you could attach a case fan to the heatsink with zip ties for example and connect the fan to your motherboard. On some motherboard software you can even set the fan speed to the gpu temp
An AC fan like that produces huge inductive EMF, it won’t hurt anything but I’m amazed that your pc worked as expected. Spinning hard drives hate AC fan EMFs and often can’t read that close.

I had a card with a burnt-out fan but the heat sink was still there. I zip tied a case fan to it, and powered it from the motherboard. Ran it that way for probably 3 years.
That fan idea make me remember back in the 2000's i had a 3ghz Northwood cpu with a stock intel cooler.It's a 478p cpu.I parked my pc next to this big industrail fans.So off i am to benchmark my pc i think 2003 benchmark was just out.I clocked it from 3ghz to 3.6ghz.It made 1 benchmark and bsod.She was never the same after that.Afterwards max oc i could get was 3.2ghz.Let me tell you oh boy was that pc fast for that 5 minutes 🤣
I still have my old intel northwood celeron 2.4 gigaherz.. although it doesnt display anything, i don't know what is going on with it, apart from the fans spinning and hard disk not being active. I changed the mobo, ram, hard disk, everything. Maybe the cmos battery is dead, i hope i am gonna fix it someday.
I still have one of the Asus directCU gtx 550ti's, and it's been heavily overclocked since the day I bought it new. Modded bios for extra volts and run it way hotter than I should. And it happily lives on..

I still have one of the Asus directCU gtx 550ti's, and it's been heavily overclocked since the day I bought it new. Modded bios for extra volts and run it way hotter than I should. And it happily lives on..
what i do for cards with no fans is put a case fan on it, zip tie it, connect fan to mobo, you can set fan speed in bios

I ran a gtx 550 ti for several years from 2017-2020. Real fun.
most of the heavy lifting was likely being done by the processor, which is supported by Bannerlord's performance, since the soldiers use computation a scale rather than the raster pipe

This card is one of those Chinese modded card. They removed the fan to not give away it brain a scam card.
What did you just type? Jees. And this card with its genuine heatsink is pretty okayish I had one and it lasted me 10 years and still played games fine.

Putting a desktop fan blowing on the pc with the wall off... takes me back to my childhood gaming and having to make that old thing limping along as long as possible until your parents decide to buy another 200$ pc.
