After having finished 800 anime series, I can still certainly admit this is my all time favorite...

Funny Trivia: in the italian version of the manga they adapted the nickname of RIVERA as "re senza corona", which means exactly "king without a crown"
I watch this amv everyday at this point, it is just too good. The best amv i have ever seen and such a good song choice, it really matches with the video and when it goes "arguments and failed attempts to fly" then shows carlos.. my heart shatters..
I was at a low point today and the lyrics to this song and this amv popped into my head.

Just finished Joe 2. Haven’t cried this much since the last ep of Ojamajo Doremi lol. The best part is that it makes me appreciate my all-time fav Gurren Lagann EVEN MORE, which I didn’t think was possible, haha.

The best UA-cam AMV
This AMV came back to mind after wathcing Akira the Don's latest visual album, which features some tracks with Ashita no Joe AMVs as the background. Ahita no Joe footage is used for "NEITHER CAN YOU" and "TAKE ACTION" songs. Other songs feature other old anime. Anyways this still rocks. And the Ashita no Joe footage works perfectly with the music I just mentioned too.

You don't need to be into boxing. The focus is on the main characters growth as a person and a reflection on postwar japanese society. The main character doesn't even step in the ring until a third of the way into the story

Too bad I got spoiled I was half into the show then I Googled ashita no joe because I wanted to know something about Joe but then Google said Joe's death that ruined the whole anime because I'll know that Joe would die at the end of the anime
Honestly I was spoiled to both the end (honestly hard not to be it's so ubiquitous) as well as the half way spoiler. It's fair if that ruined it for you, but it didn't for me, the execution is just that incredible.

The first season is probably the best anime of all time, but the second is just not as good, for me anj is finished at ep. 79
