In this video, Summersville Lake Manager Brandy Acord talks about the current deep drawdown at the lake and what improvements and repairs are being made during the drawdown.
I often wonder how the structures of US Army Corps of Engineers work exactly, I've seen them doing projects all over the country, are they soldiers or are they civilian engineers? For example, the lady in this video, is she an active duty Army soldier? A reservist Army soldier that works as an engineer in her civilian job? Or is she a civilian contractor hired by the USACE to work for them?
I guess as another government agency, you don't have to worry about OSHA showing up and bitching about stairs with no handrail and not being tethered in to work out there...
The lake should be drained unless the corp can show it’s assisting with flood prevention up and down stream. Right now there are significant flooding issues up stream that the corp of engineers continue to ignore and brush off.
There's no upstream flooding.its all downhill to the lake, and the dam can only hold so much untill it overflows. I'm a resident living a half mile away.
Accent... Love THEM curls too😊💯😎
If not for the USACE and the dam system in WV my neighborhood would probably been flooded out twice since the 60's!
Thanks!!!
Good times on the Gauley river. WVa, beauty is a treasure.
Once a small town gad wv . My people ...
DAMN I miss that hillbilly girl twang..🤙😊
Used to rock climb down here, saw the lake nearly empty sometime back in the 90's. Every weekend it would be lower.

Most are civilian but there are military members. My hubby was Prime Power which is part of USACE and he was active duty

They don't care about up stream flooding, the lake filling with water is literally up stream flooding. It was built to prevent flooding down stream.
