I`ll be Handong`s trash and tell that I actually stanned DC because of her vocals - her line in Emotion "Oh I can`t hold you anymore" totally got me and I entered the fandom.
Btw - we all know know about Dami`s, but DAMN Gahyeon`s and Handong`s low registers!!! To die for. (that Silent night goddamn)
Handong's line "Now I'm holding this pain" made me recognize her when I was first learning their faces, she has such a unique strong voice

Tbh, yall are going to drag me. Gahyeon and Handong are exceptional vocalist and deserve a high rank. Yoohyeon actually is pretty low for me, she ranks the lowest as having a high vocal range. She usually struggles to hit high notes and her voice strains a lot.
Handong has a hauntingly beautiful voice. Her lines are among the most memorable and she always stands out. She may not be the most skilled vocalist in the world, but boy does she make up for that in her delivery of the words.
I feel like SuA has such an underrated voice. It's really clear and she shows good vocal technique and stability when she sings. Her voice is really satisfying to listen to and she sings like it's nothing with that intense choreo.
She doesn't have proper vocal technique. She strains the most in Dreamcatcher, especially in her chest voice. Her falsetto is gorgeous though and with ease. Her lower register lacks support. A lot of support, like, she can't project any low notes. I believe part of it has to do with her sing nasally most of the time. But overall she has power and incredible stamina, that helps her with the hardcore DC choreography.

Dreamcatcher's vocals are strong and powerful that even their main rapper can sing! Even sub vocals can hit high notes, lead vocalists can be main vocalist too, but i know everyone of us can agree that Siyeon's voice is just so god-tier and that's why she's a main vocal, no doubt! but everyone is truly amazing. We stan talented queens!

i don’t think dami is a bad singer by any means, but i just think she’s inexperienced
She has little to no vocal training since she’s a rapper but she was still able to sing an Adele song perfectly, which is especially hard if it’s not your native language. Her lines in deja vu, Jazz bar and daybreak really show off her vocal talents. Tbh I would have ranked her at least an A

Siyeon is just so special of a main vocalist. like it says a lot with a group with vocalists who could be main vocalists in other groups arent because DreamCatcher has Siyeon and shes that good. To me shes up there with some of the best main vocalists of all time.

Siyeon is amazing but you can't really compare her to other k-pop vocalists cause she is more of a rock singer and uses completely different techniques than typical k-pop main vocals

disclaimer: i'm not a vocal professional or anything, just a longtime kpop fan who watches a lot of vocalist analysis videos.
take all of this with a bucket load of salt.
JiU- A+
She has good tone, projection, emotions, and consistency throughout performances. Her range isn't quite as wide as Yoohyeon's or Siyeon's, but that doesn't mean she is not main vocalist material. Her technique has a tiny bit to improve upon because she gets breathy often, but she is a top tier lead vocalist.
Gahyeon- A- (A minus)
(if that was a thing) because I personally don't think she is on the same level as Handong, but not quite a B. she's improved a LOT though over the years though and I love her vocal color especially live, but her voice is better suited for lower notes. She's very stable considering most people rank her as the least skilled vocalist in DC other than Dami.
Sua- A
I don't think Sua is quite yet main vocalist level, especially in comparison to other idols. She is a quite nasal (not that being nasal is always bad), but her emotion is amazing. Her vocal chords can get a bit strained, but she has good vocal projection.
Dami- B
The fact that a main rapper with little to no training as a vocalist could sing an ADELE SONG especially Someone Like You with no struggle shows you that she is amazing. With more training and experience she could easily be at the same level as Gahyeon, maybe even go higher. She has ok vocal projection, her tone is my personal favorite, and her breath support is ok as well. Her lower range is well developed, but she has little to no technique (which is fine because she's literally a rapper), so this makes her out of tune very often.
Yoohyeon- A+ (almost A++ for me)
She is higher than JiU, but not quite as good of a vocalist as Siyeon. She is similar to Sua in the sense that she is very nasal, but if she used it as a temporary vocal style, not as her whole style, it would make her an even better vocalist. Yoohyeon has good breath support, rhythm, emotion, technique, and projections. She is very stable and her cover of Secret Love Song was god tier! Her cover of 2002 was also amazing.
Handong- A !!!!
I'm most excited to talk about my underrated Handongie. She deserves lead vocals!! Handong is outshined by the other members, but she shouldn't be. Her tone is rich and emotional and her vocal projection and range are wonderful too. Her vocal technique could be improved upon, but I feel she just needs more experience.
Siyeon- A++
Obviously the most talented vocalist of Dreamcatcher, she has good tone, projection, emotions, and versatility throughout performances. She can change her pitch from nasal to breathy and anywhere in between to suit the song, similarly to Handong. Her breath support can become weak at times, but her singing skills and talent outweigh her few problems.
Ranking them as a whole:
1. Siyeon
2. Yoohyeon
3. JiU
4. Handong
5. Sua
6. Gahyeon
7. Dami

i absolutely agree, especially about handongie! i’d love to hear her beautiful voice more, i must admit. i really loved her deja-vu iconic line, she’s just so talented, but sadly doesn’t have lots of lines :(
Siyeon is among the very few KPop artists so far that has literally made me question whether I'm hearing a recording or a live version. And so effortlessly too. A++ / S tier is well-deserved for her.
That said, DC is an INSANE vocal group as a whole. And, as far as Han Dong being underrated, its because the other members are THAT good vocally. She's not bad, or even average, in the slightest. I hope we can get a song featuring her in the future.
All I can say is that they all have improved tremendously and that they are always working so hard for us

I love this, but personally I would rate Gahyeon as a B. No hate, I love her, she’s just a little weak and pitchy. She’s also younger than the other girls, so she hasn’t trained as long and can totally improve. Dami also has issues with pitch, but her tone is much fuller and stronger, personally between them I think she’s a better vocalist.

@@fremzter I feel like her voice actually is a bit weak in the sense that she cannot hold notes for long while staying stable. But yes, her voice isn't really pitchy for me. Keep in mind I am a Gahyeon bias, so under no circumstances would I hate on Gahyeon.
Fremy Gonzales I’ve been studying voice for over ten years. I know my terms. Gahyeon is not even remotely the loudest member vocally, not sure where you would get that from. “Pitchy” means she doesn’t always hit a note right in the center of the pitch. I think by low register/bass you mean she is an alto, which is not true. She is a mezzo soprano from what I can tell. Not sure why you felt the need to be so sassy about it. I don’t mean any hate to Gayheon, in fact I think both her vocals and dancing have improved immensely in this comeback.

I think when it comes to Dami i feel like if she was more confident her she would sound amazing! She has an impressive range and her tone is very rich and darker compared to the other members so it brings such a nice pleasant contrast. She also has a soft sweet voice sometimes and it’s so pretty

Agreed! Her vocals are personally my favorite after Siyeon, especially her parts in Deja Vu. She’s way too underrated. And she has such duality! Her low notes in diamond and the produce 101 show were beautiful

I think Dami and Gahyeon should take more singing lessons because they have great potential. Handong should be given more lines to increase her confidence in singing..Jiu should be given more lines too and songs that suits her voice more, because In terms of technique she is really good. Yoohyeon should do more breathing exercises since she's often out of breath when singing live (without choreography). Siyeon should train to control her vibrato while Sua to control her voice better and to add more colour because her vocal timbre is already good.
Btw I'm saying this because I watched their concerts and heard them singing live without backup tracks that covered their voices too much. I know that singing live while dancing is difficult, these are just opinions and I have no ill intentions. I'm an InSomnia since their debut in 2017 and I have anything but love and admiration for them.
Handong's voice is my favourite. Not because she is the best singer in the group (that goes to Siyeon), but it's because I like her lower/huskier vocal colour. She's great supporting vocals, and I feel her missing in 'Scream' and 'Boca' because of how interesting her voice is.
I'm sad they under-utilize her. I really think that outside of just giving her more centre lines in singles, she could help produce some harmonies.

Siyeon is on another level on vocals. She has it all in vocals. Yoohyeon could be easily main vocalist in almost any other group but she still even though is an amazing vocalist isn't at Siyeons level :)

I love all of DC so much and i love how unique their voices are. Gahyeon has really improved this comeback and i think that's awesome considering that her and dongie only trained for a small amount of time. I think all of them can benefit from having a vocal coach on their team though. That's not me saying they can't sing. Vocal coaches are important, even if the person can sing amazingly. They are always good to have on hand ksjfsk. Anyways, for two people who have only trained for a short amount of time, Handong and Gahyeon have improved greatly. I hope HF will finally give them both their own moments to shine like they've given the 5 other girls

god dreamcatcher really is THAT GROUP!! like. i’d say handong and gahyeon are both underrated vocalists but the problem is they’re up against SIYEON, who is actually a vocal god. i mean honestly they have some of the hardest choreos in the game (i learned endless night recently and it’s one of the hardest i’ve ever done second only to a fucking svt song) and yet they still sing extremely difficult songs with top-notch stability???? i saw them live in december and siyeon hit several of her notes stronger and with fuller vibrato than the studio recordings had. while DANCING FULL OUT. for an ENTIRE CONCERT. like ma’am are you human???? anyways what i’m saying is stan them

I honestly think Dami getting a B is very unjustified, just because she's a rapper. She sings very well, as proven many times, especially in songs without rapping in, and why is rapping getting degraded when that's also vocals?
I think Dami is at least an A, and personally, I find her to be better than Gahyeon. Gahyeon can sing well, but you can definitely hear a little instability in her voice. Dami's voice is a lot more stable, so I would definitely rank Dami a bit higher than Gahyeon.

You're basing your argument on a foreign song, something most idols have a bit of struggle with anyway because of the language itself. "her voice shakes when she's singing, and she has yet to hit a note properly" and you're basing this off what?
Emotions was only one example, many other songs where she sings and not just raps, and it's fine. Also, the video clearly lines rapping beneath singing, which is 100% unjustified. The title says "vocal ranking" and rapping is vocal unless you want to argue that rapping comes from a piano.
