I remember a couple of years ago in Belarus the temperature was about -28, so after playing a lot of The Long Dark, I packed up and went hiking in the winter forest :>
But let's not also pretend that surviving in the wild is rocket science - cave men with stone tools could do it (and in a much harsher global climate than we have now). I'm not by any means saying that everyone would or could 'make it.' But with even basic tools, most people should be able to figure out to fish, or shoot small game, or build a survivable shelter. The Long Dark also doesn't really allow you to stockpile or craft nearly as much as a real human survivor would. Like, right off the bat, I know if I was totally unarmed and facing hostile wildlife, I'd likely be capable of fashioning a rudimentary spear (and, honestly, if you cant come up with a piece of metal to file down to make a truly reliable weapon, you're incompetent. Metal is *everywhere* now). You can't even do that in TLD. But that assumes that you'd start empty-handed. And most people wouldn't - particularly not in some kind of post-apocalyptic scenario. There would be guns, fuel, canned food, more clothing than you could ever possibly need or want, etc., all over the place.
@@princessofthecape2078 hahahahaha caveman was brought up in that time, you were brought up with cell phones and ready made meals. the avg human is not going to survive in the wild.
Big EMP pulse from the sun fried all electronics on earth. Also somehow earth rotation is slowed, that’s why everywhere is cold, although it started before the pulse. So the whole world is fucked, but we are double-fucked because we stranded on an island with the infrastructure from the 80s.
Bro didnt you read the diclaimer at the start of the game ?!?!?! 😱

Imagine thinking surviving in a video game means you think your the next bear gryls.
