Target fixation can be deadly. A friend who owned a custom motorcycle shop ran head on into a truck riding in the local foothills. With no real explanation I can only figure he went where he looked
This is a bit off topic but I am always amazed at the amount of work that must be involved in setting up your course. Do you measure everything out or are you just able to eye ball it after doing it for so many years? I can't help thinking that it must take a fair amount of time just to set things up. I really enjoy your videos and your sense of humor, keep up the good work.
@@motorman857 I'd like to think that I would have thought of that. And, I've noticed that you have little 4 wheeled scooters that carry the stacked cones so you can set them out on the fly. I would like to watch a video on how it's all done. You've cleared up that mystery for me, thanks.
Hi Motorman ! You posted a video some time ago about installing foot pegs on an engine guard so they locked on impact and added additional safety. I've looked all through your videos and cannot find it. Can you please help refresh my memory. I'm determined to get better riding. I have all of your CD's.
I don't remember which video that was but you simply install the highway pegs upside down so instead of folding up, they fold down. When practicing, you leave them straight out.
Hi Motor Man, I have just purchased a Dyna Fat Bob 2015 Model and I am used to riding a Suzuki V-Strom 650. Is it normal for the Harley to want to pull you down towards the road in turning left or right at intersections? Is this normal for a Harley? I almost skid my back tyre out from turning and leaning too sharp.
Below 5 mph, the force of gravity is stronger than the force pulling you forward. On cruiser type motorcycles, you will run out of lean angle long before you run out of traction. What you described, sounds like rider error.
He keeps mentioning the rear brake. What’s so special about the rear brake? When I try motojitsu’s crazy 13 drill, I find myself only use the front brake, is that an issue?
@@krisswolf2011watch the videos where motorman talked about "the friction zone," it's when you use your rear brake and clutch simultaneously when doing U turns. Do not use your front break when doing a U turn.
@@classicrider103 but why no front brake? Im trying to figure out if you are just repeating misconceptions like “using the front brake in slow speed drills will make you drop your bike” or if there’s actually an insightful reason i haven’t considered
@@krisswolf2011 it is not a misconception, if you don't believe it make some tight turns and use your front brake. I will not reply anymore. ride safe.
I think that the reluctance to turn your head and eyes to where you want to go stems from your taking your eyes off the road where the bike is actually going at that point, not where your tend to go. That does take practice and faith in your own ability 👍🏼
"Look only where you want to go" seems to be the key, to riding and to living. Still working on it.
Thanks Jerry. Keep trying to make riders safe.
Appreciate all your tips and attention to detail. Thank you

Reviewing all of your videos and practicing as much as possible. I just signed up for for the class in Jonesboro GA on April 27
Great Job Motorman. I have your dvds and I am practicing.
Thanks Jerry been practicing over here in Australia… at times wish I was a lot nearer!
You can do it!
Well done all those riders, and yourself Jerry/.❤
Great video thanks for sharing
Best channel ever. Thanks Motorman.
As always, thanks for the tips, if only your classes were mandatory.

I have marks on the pavement so I can just drop the cones on the marks. It takes 30 minutes to set up.

I'm in NC riding the dragon tail today.
@heybruh3274 yeah I got the clap from your mother
Keep up the good work. Going out to jump start the snow blower, in a bit. 🤣
as the snow flies here.
I’ve been riding a few years now…I need to find a local class to help me become a better rider. …or come find you!
On electric motorcycles these type of classes will be a challenge . No clutch . Just accelerator and brakes !
On automatic vehicles the brake acts as sort of a clutch so it's even simpler, really.

When I learn to ride I'm coming to you, Jerry. Prepare to meet one of the most unbearable people you'll ever meet.

If you are using your front brake in these slow speed turning drills it's just a matter of time before you can answer your own question.
