Listened this song on radio while driving in Dubai. After sometime i closed it. Because I couldn’t control my emotions 😢. No doubt partition was biggest tragedy for those who migrated.
A now Lucknow-based man who got separated from his lover (Husna, who lives in Lahore owing to the 1947 Partition) conveying his unrequited love for her in a letter addressing it to her address (listen to the starting lines of the song) seeking to know his perspective on the state of affairs around her post the partition......... Partition took so much, especially from Punjabis and Bengalis. My grandfather would tell me stories of Lahore pre-partition, a city rich with culture, diversity, color, refinement. We were robbed of so much, from the time of Alexander to the British Raj, Punjab has been the gateway to India, plundered by all, but at the same time the defender of the greater subcontinent. Our identity is more than just Sikh, Hindu, Mussalman, before the Raj, before Pakistan and Bharat, we were all brothers and sisters, Punjabis.
