I will be retiring to the Philippines in 6 years with my Filipino spouse. I love the way they are family-oriented, friendly, smiling and helpful. Many live very humble lives but still appreciate what they have. The US seems to have gotten more angry and divided during my lifetime, which makes me very sad. I can live very comfortably in the Philippines in what I will have as income and from which it will give us a good home base to sightsee other Asian countries. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your time there. With over 7200 islands there, we will not run out of places to explore.
We Filipinos appreciate the beauty of life, we already have a lot of troubles in our day-to-day lives not being happy about good sunshine, a cup of coffee, good food and especially friends and family. We are not perfect just like anybody else, but we enjoy our lives and everybody is welcome. As long as they never overstep our boundaries. Maligayang bati sa inyong lahat.
When I retire I certainly would consider the Philippines for the following reason
>Language. Most Filipinos can communicate in English. When having difficulty communicating with one person, talk to a group. Each one in the group can come up with suggestions, to come up the accurate word, phrase or sentence . Personally, I am too old to learn a new language. In places, culture is close to many Western countries
>Respect. Most Filipinos have high regard for foreigners. Sorry to say but the colonial mentality is still pervasive (ie colonialist are superior). This ia a legacy of the 333 years colonization by the Spaniards. Gratitude by the Filipinos for Americans during the American rule of 25 years and during the second world war is still evident. Foreigners are almost never considered as “second class citizens “
>Diversity: Filipinos have been to almost all parts of the world as Overseas Filipino Workers. Thirty percent of world sailors are Filipinos They have brought back culture, cuisine and ideas from all over the world. You can find Middle Eastern, European, African, Mexican and South American, and of course Asian foods and culture. There is a diversity of religion including most Christian denominations, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and South East Asian religions.
>Cost: It is cheaper to live in the Philippines than in most part of the West, Europe, and even many Asian countries . But because of the improving economy, cost of living might increase in the future (just saying) but hopefully social and safety and protective services will also improve. My 28 year old son had to live in the Philippines for 5 years…CULTURE SHOCK…When came back to the U.S. He was very thrifty and was hesitant to spend. He was comparing the prices in the Philippines to the U.S.. It took him several months to adjust to the prices in the U.S.
>Friendliness and Helpfulness: Filipinos are, arguably (and based on other bloggers) friendlier and more more helpful that other people. Humility is deeply inculcated in most of the people because of religion and culture. Deep in the Filipino is sharing of food, labor, even condiments. Most Filipinos are willing to share, help, and they understand poverty or difficulty. They like to socialize by chatting, but lately chatting has been replaced by social media. Filipinos are arguably the most prolific users of social media in the world. Almost everyone has a facebook page and Manila was known as selfie capital of the world. I am not sure but maybe also the karaoke capital.
>Safety: It is unfortunate that there was a time in the past crime is ramphant, police services were then inadequate. Most businesses hired private security guards to ensure safety . Now police services have much improved but yet still businesses hire security guards for extra protection. Malls have much still retained many security guards and security measures including inspection of bags in malls and undercarriages of cars on some hotels. Security guards are specially instructed to be courteous and friendly. Most malls even have wheel chairs you can borrow.
>Foreign Affairs: Philippines has very close relations with almost all countries all over the world. “Friends to all…enemies to none”Foreigners are well treated and consular services to most countries in the world are available.
>Facilities: It can have facities that can equal the best in the world. There are world class hotels, resturants, entertainment, museums for those that can afford it. But it is still a poor country where 25% of the people is under the poverty line. Good facilities are not available everywhere especially remote area in the provinces.
>Natural Beauty: The Philippines have 7100 islands of a variety of shapes, beauty to explore. Swim with giant sharks, explore the tropical rain forest, waterfalls, and be involved in aquatic, mountain, forest and land activities. It is teeming with over 400 years of history that is still well preserved.
I’m a filipino, but I would suggest you come to Malaysia, that is better than the Philippines. I wish I could live and retire there, than in my own suck country.
@@maicagojocruz489 Please educate me. What sucks in the Philippines ( I realize that it has a lot of problems bureaucracy, health care problems especially in the provinces, poverty, infrastructure etc) Thank you for your time.
@@maicagojocruz489 I am a filipino, and love my country. And definitely not sucks as you claimed it.
Filipinos are super friendly indeed, that's what stands out the most for me!

As an international student who recently completed my studies in Canada, I find myself longing for my home country, the Philippines, more than ever. I deeply miss the many wonderful things my homeland has to offer. My heartfelt desire is to return to the Philippines this year and establish a permanent life there.
filipino hearts would always long for our motherland wherever we may be.
Just do it, I am 49 and I can tell you, money is not the answer, the politics in the West are screwed, Phillipines is genuine and relax life, family life, much better to be surrounded by love ;-)

While I am now a Canadian Citizen from the Philippines and I can the difference between both countries, I saw the good and the bad of these countries but financially speaking Canada is miles away a good country to have better life but when it comes to people I so love being a Filipino, Canada is starting to deterioratw when in comes to moral values and crimes starting to increase due to different people migrating and the refugees that depends on governement and working Canadians money but overall I love being an Filipino-Canadian.❤❤
I agree, I grew up in Canada and I use to say I don’t want to live back home but now as I get older I wish to spend more time back home when I retire. 😊
That's totally true. We sadly left Canada because of crime rate skyrocketing, housing crisis, cost of living crisis, immigration crisis and most of all the depressing winters.

@@freakyjerkus . Its ignorant to say canadian people are not nice Just because you had few bad encounters with people. I was treated well during my 12 years time there. I felt safe walking at night and nobody stole my things outside my house like deliveries. Mahal/expensive? When I was in Canada , I can easily afford to buy healthy foods, gadgets etc because of their fair wages that can sustain you a comfortable lifestyle unlike here in the Philippines . Cold/lamig? of course there are months it will be, its. A Four-season country. Just because you dont like cold ,makes Canada a bad place. In fact, people here in the Philippines are using Air-conditioner because they dont like the heat. Sobrang kitid yang pag iisip mo..

Canadians in general are polite people you might encounter one but rarely i say 1 for 1000, I've been living in Quebec the past 10 years I've never encountered assholes, what I've met were rude immigrants like those came from asia.

Not everything is roses in the Philippines. Be ready to be resilient and be patient.
Thanks for all the nice things you said about our country Philippines. Mabuhay! Ur always welcome here in the Philippines!👍
thanks, this is nice bro. it's always eye opening when we get to see pov from a different perspective. ;)
just to add, for some culture appreciation:
1.jeepneys are of course communal form of transportation. one thing that surprises tourists is that: if you're too far from the driver to pay, other passengers will just fetch and pass the money across until it gets to him. this is a form of "bayanihan"("the group[people power] helping someone in need").
2.although you can also order different cuisines from different countries in the philippines; philippine taste can seem to be more flavorful(maybe mostly towards sweet, and some sour). the PH was colonized then, because of its spices btw.
again, thanks!
Thank you so much Gidbless to your channel.Be happy everyday, and we always support your vlogs❤️🙏🏻😊

Hello friend, glad to hear you're having great time here in PH. Be careful with Taxi tho, most of them if they know you're foreigner, they might charge you more than actual fare.
Loving your content about the Philippines! It's almost as exciting as my nights in Pattaya.
You know, the parties there are just so "refined," and the young ladies? Pure class.
But don't even get me started on Angeles City; it's a whole different level of "elegance." Life's a blast, isn't it?

@@friendofvinniewe prefer that way. We do not want to be overpopulated by foreigners coz it s cheap n Phil and it will be taken advantage of by rich foreign people. It s ok if your parents are filipino or husband or wife.
@@balsafarmers10 overpopulation is a myth even in Philippines there are wide open spaces with no people around! I think your rich elites do enough harm to the rest of the Philippine population that a few "foreigners" won't make much of a difference! It's okay not to like balut, I am Filipino and have not tried eating balut and I have no interest in eating it in the future. It's good to eat once just for the experience, I guess. :D
I don't like balut either as well. It's an acquired taste. It's more likely a tease from the locals as well of testing your 'patience' from our local food delicacies.
I loved balut since I was a kid, I would eat it every week but I have grown and more likely become a picky eater so I just eat it occasionally.
Thanks for promoting Philippines. ❤
Enjoy your video, I am so glad that you are alright but pls just take care of yourself and be careful always ❤️🙏

i liked balut if i mixed it with spicy (chili) vinegar but i don't eat it right now coz its high in cholesterol.but i'll surely want to eat again later when i returned on working out.also, along our main thoroughfare, edsa that stretches several cities across metro manila, more filipinos prefer to ride in buses or mrt and lrt (light railway trains)coz its air-conditioned,fast and cheaper compare to taxis or grab.good luck!
Good luck and enjoy the Philippines! ❤

Just found your channel great i was in The Philippines before i look forward to watching you're video's
We are a friendly nation because that just seems to be our temperament, or at least as a culture we're more open to experience especially if it's not too contentious (hence why most Filipinos view the West for its liberal side rather than conservative side). You'll also see the comparison with most East Asian countries that are just way conservative and not that really open, plus our agreeableness was very much inspired with Christian views especially many boomers and latchkey gen parents have the Virgin Mary as their patron (as you'll see often in Filipino houses).
Edit: you've definitely adopted major Filipino culture if you fell in love with pancit and lumpia
Thank you for your comment about my country
Welcome here in the Philippines, I have a lot of relatives there in Canada from my mother side.
You are Welcome Sir, Mabuhay. Enjoy your life while you are here. But don't forget to pray wherever you go for your safety evryday.
I've been here for over 15 years became a permanent resident and retired early due to selling all the real estate I owned in Canada. When I retired from the medical profession I wanted to be away from the Canadian weather. I also volunteered as a MD here which passed my time. My retirement fund and worked here and became a celebrity. I don't have family anymore in Canada so the change and transition was pretty easy. Over all it's a great country. I lived in Mindanao for all these years and I hear stories but for my part I find nothing wrong with Mindanao. I don't show off or brag about myself and get little attention so that's the smart way to be here. Some come here to show off and they wonder why they're victimized. As for me I live in a little normal house with my wife and son. So I don't attract trouble. You have to be smart. Filipinos are kind and loving. Great place to retire. As for me I just live day to day and enjoy the fresh food and life. ❤ko 🇵🇭
Wow that’s amazing to hear!
@@TrulyAlpha I was also offered the order of Canada by our governor general in Canada. They had me in the news here and in Canada which was okay. Canadians do good things abroad for the most part. 😌
