Pretty cool. I saved a ton of money by going with a prefab quartz countertop for $500. Made the cutouts for the sink and induction cooktop myself using a grinder, drill and sander.
This vid helps alot getting my whole kitchen through ikea i definitely know what to watch out for now thanks alot loved the random scene changes very entertaining
Ended up here because I am considering their cabinets for my new kitchen that I’m currently in the process of renovating. Hence the reason I ended up here and I don’t regret it. You’re a very funny and hilarious couple.😂 Good information too.
How do the insides of the cabinets hold up? In the past, we’ve build the cabinets. With lumber prices being so high, we’re looking at alternatives. Unfortunate timing, this house is our final remodel as it’s the one we’ll likely be staying in, so I’m very interested to know how the carcasses hold up. We’ll build our own doors and drawer faces when lumber goes down, but the current cabinets are falling apart and need replaced ASAP. Thanks!
I think they're great. I don't like the toe kicks, so you should plan on building those custom as well, but the carcasses are pretty sturdy with the only weak point being the back panel. It folds so that it can be packed and is kind of cheap feeling and flexible.
I don’t love the plastic toe kicks. I would cut a few 1x4s out of pine or poplar and paint to match. You could pin nail or screw from above inside the cabinet and wouldn’t see a thing.
One of my concerns with Ikea kitchens is that they discontinue styles every few years. You mentioned that a damaged door can't be repainted. What if a door gets damaged after the style is no longer available?
Nicely done kitchen. One thing you might regret is the Microwave over the Range setup. I would have done a strong vent hood with the Microwave installed right below the counter top somewhere.
@@jorge3234 Looking up is one thing. Above the cooktop is just too high. Plus the ventilation capability for such microwave is just terrible. I would trade for a less greasy kitchen oven bending over a few times to retrieve food from the microwave.
I did everything except countertops myself. I didn't move any of the plumbing, so it was pretty easy. Here's the sink I got: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SCMBVFR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hi, I'd like to know how the cabinets are holding up after almost a year using it. Since you mentioned that it's always raining there, I figured it might be somewhat similar to a humid climate that I'm living in, so I was worried that a particleboard cabinet might get bloated over time.
Thanks for the video! Are you guys happy with your black kitchen in the basement? Is it as easy to clean as your white kitchen? We are planning to do a black kitchen but I’ve heard such mixed reviews! Thanks 😊
I just picked up subway tiles from Home Depot, super cheap and classic. I’m not familiar with the backsplash options from ikea, but traditional tile is always my go-to. Very durable and cheaper than most anything else.
I ran the flooring all the way under the cabinets. Just in case someone ever wants to move things around. It will also help with any spills not getting underneath the flooring.
What an entertaining way to present a review! Clever transitions with the 🎤! Lovely kitchen and thanks. Do you know when the annual kitchen sale occurs typically? Thanks ✌🏽
@@meilingkwok8229 I actually bought it on Amazon. Its a Kraus brand sink with a front apron. I've seen them in a lot of remodeled kitchens lately, I can definitely recommend!
@@andrewtoh6627 Sorry, you're right, downstairs was butcher block, upstairs was quartz. Real butcher block can be sanded and fixed if burned or gouged, veneer not so much. I think the cost is pretty similar too.
If it’s an ikea cabinet, I don’t think I would paint them but instead buy new fronts. Someone can correct me, but I don’t think that material would take paint very well and would start chipping off quickly.
5 years ago I did my kitchen with ikea cabinets. Now I’m going custom. The quality just isn’t there with IKEA. If you have kids, they will not last. If you’re gonna do a whole kitchen, don’t make the same mistake I did. Do it right with custom cabinets
@@ahomeinSeattle custom cabinets in my case was $15,000 more than a new set of ikea cabinets. It is quite a bit more but it’s solid hardwood and not laminate. I also chose mahogany but you could do maple for way less.
Gotta love aeropress! I've got about 6 different coffee making methods here and I prefer the taste of coffee from the areopress even though I feel like I'm gonna break my countertops by having to put my full body weight on the top to push it down. Still worth it! Haven't broken the countertops yet. *knocks on wood*😂😂😂
Looks great! I would like to get an ikea kitchen one day! But whose knows when since Covid and it doesn’t look like they will be having the kitchen event any time soon!
We lived with it for about a year and a half and loved it. Then moved to a new house. Planning to do it all again, except use someone else for countertops. I think you can find something much nicer for just a little bit more.
@@sabajess9083 I have a countertop guy that works the seattle area, Seattle Stone Specialties. They did a much better job on a later project than the ikea subcontractor.
LOL "You could easily spend 20, 30, 40 thousand dollars for a custom kitchen." Actually, it STARTS at $40K for a basic kitchen and easily goes to 80, 100 and 120K for a custom kitchen.
I love the tone of this video

I've always wondered if that would be possible. Did the cuts turn out finish quality or are you covering them with a top mount sink?
Wow u are brave glad it worked out!!!
love your transitions from scene to scene
Thank you!
Good informative points. Especially how you can use alternative sink and appliances.

No more cheap IKEA nowadays! You suggested not get toe kicks so which materials we can do? get wood 2x4 and custom build?

Very easy on the mind, that video. Lively and fun. I love the big sink. How much was it? I think i missed that bit.
Thank you! The sink was about $400, I love it 😍

I’ve been looking at those, love them. I would have done that if we were going to stay in the house, but we sold it soon after the remodel.

Your kitchen is beautiful! I am thinking about getting the Axstad kitchen cabinets from IKEA. How are they holding up? Are they easy to clean?
They're awesome. Super easy to clean and pretty durable. Of course there are nicer things out there, but Ikea is really the best value.
What time of the year is their annual sale?
They haven’t been doing it since Covid 😢 but they did bring back a smaller sale this February, so maybe they will bring it back all the way someday.
Thanks for the info.

Nice! I ordered an appliance bundle on Black Friday and only paid 2300.00! And that’s with tax. My contractor was shocked! Oh and it was Samsung!

It's the sektion cabinets, I think those are the only kitchen cabinets Ikea has.
why did you not use IKEA veneer wood worktop?
I’m not a fan of veneer. There’s no repairability and it has to be finished in some way. The quartz is more expensive but indestructible.
