I had a demo ride in a McCullough J-2 back in the early 1970's. It seemed we took off in less than 30ft with hardly any wind at all. Unfortunately I was still in high school back then. And when I could afford one they were gone. Having an ability to spin up the rotor is a big help. The J-2 had a 150hp engine, so the Rotax 916 should work out nice. I have seen people operate some of these gyros from 5 and 10 acre rural properties.
I am planning on getting a sport pilot license and have recently decided to go with gyroplanes. You mentioned variable pitch propeller and rotor? You also mentioned that it was automatic? Does that mean I can fly this with a sport pilot license? You would think with a safety concern in mind with the FAA that they would approve this or give special approval for sport pilots. I am definitely interested in safety. I guess also with Mosaic coming out next year with this issue be covered? Thank you..... Great video!
Can't fly with sport pilot license, has adjustable prop and rotor. Under mosaic, don't know if it will be allowed, adjustable prop will be, but adjustable rotor may not be allowable from what I heard. Which doesn't make sense if simply controls helicopters would be allowable under mosaic with 30 hrs training.
I don’t know why you couldn’t fasten the rotor blade, straight ahead and drive it around in town with stoplights and headlights with the rear propeller
I am impressed. Very nice! My pasture next to my barn is 660 long . I could keep this at home in the barn and fly from my yard. I like that idea.
