    I brought one just to have it.
    Also bought the Giant Stiletto.
    Both are unique and cool in there own right.
    No plans of testing or using.
    Just have too showoff when someone tells me they have a big folder. I can do the Dudee moment!
    Thanks for the video Pete.

    Got the Outlaw and it's an axe disguised as a knife! SUPER heavy duty beater! Timber Rattler's are pretty underrated in my opinion cause when they make a knife right, it's bullet proof!

      Agreed brother. Way underrated. I think people don’t realize how much knife you’re getting for the price.

    i have had my outlaw bowie for about 5 years. you can not break it. it will even work as a small shovel if you have to dig a hole. i notice several companies making the same knife under different names. great video.

    They are great budget beater knives. I have yet to break one of them. I am just now in my life where I can afford midrange knives. That's why I love WT blades.

    Very nice. I don't think I have any Timber Rattler, but I do have some by Timber Wolf and of course Szco and Frost. I think a lot of these brands swap or copy knife designs cause a lot of them look the same just with different branding. I've ever had one cheapo beater break on me and sure enough, it was labeled "full tang" but was only made to look that way. I hate that crap.

    • @pistolpete4991
      @pistolpete4991  Рік тому

      Yeah, all those brands have some good ones Mixed in. I hate when they miss label the blade specs. The only time I’ve ever had a problem with budget blades is when they’re stick tang or something like this cheap welded tang.

    I just ordered a couple of these. I have had 2 field and stream bowie knives that I have daily carried for 10 years or more. They have served me extremely well but I feel that they deserve to retire and live in the dresser drawer with the others. They only are only 1 lbs and the rattlers I sent for are 2 lbs. This is one of the reasons I choose this particular knife 🔪 design. Down below the lighter F&S was easy to maneuver and with the lanyard hole in it flipping it around is fun.
    A little while back I moved up a little higher in Idaho and the Woman I hooked up with has a bunch of dirt that runs along the Big Lost and it's got a Bizillion Trees!!!!
    I'm always chopping down them Lovely things. Little saplings, limbs, basically clearing brush.
    I'm prone to utilize the bowie knife as a tool for prying things apart and whatever comes along.
    I'm glad I found your video and it was really 👍
    Thank you for the Informative video!!

    Wow, over fifteen years, that thing has stood the test of time, and in extreme temperatures.
    I agree, no issues until you start lying to consumers, then it's a no go.
    That would make a great companion to the black mule.

    If they still sold the Caribbean Bowie, if get it. Today I'm returning both the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie and the lesser known, but identical SZCO Sable Bowie. The Sable was actually a bit thicker and heavier, but I suspect no 2 Timber Rattlers are identical because they're mostly handmade. I' bought the Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie at the same time. I'm keeping that one. What a ridiculous value for $110. The Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie style aren't great knives IMO. They're very handle heavy, which makes them a poor choice for a fighting knife. The sheath is unusable, so you'll have to pay for a custom sheath, unless you're just chopping wood in your back yard. Contrast that to the $25 Rough Ryder Black Mule Bowie. It's full hidden tang, it arrives sharp, the weight isn't bad, it has a better blade shape for a fighting knife, and it's blade heavy. It also comes with the best sheath I've seen on a $25 Bowie.

      I can instantly tell you know nothing about cheap bowie like the 25 dollar one you like nor the origional ones that are period correct to Davy crockets day and the Alamo. You want a full tang bowie, the handle weight if from the pommel and hilt not the tang where it goes 90% + of its strength. Remove your your pommel (or hilt) and then redo the handle. You will change the balance back to weight forward (which is bad and incorrect but what ever). Most bowie knives even durring Louis and Clark were old butcher knives re-handled by the men who decided to use their wives old kitchen knives. And the rat tail tangs and hidden tang knives notable failed at 100% rates in actual use in the wild. Some men even lost their lives when their knife failed. You want full exposed tang on a knife. And steel better then stainless as it's prone to snapping the longer it gets. I wouldn't pass a foot over all (handle and blade) on a stainless steel bowie. If you want 15" get a mild/high carbon steel like properly heat related 1060-1075. Of 5160/9260 spring steel (like a machete) Use gun oil to keep it rust free and and use a smaller ss knife for kitchen survival work.

      @@samuellipscomb8173 you're preaching to the choir hoss. I know all this about knives. It's the reason I choose my knives very carefully. And yes, the balance point should be at the pommel. I prefer mine to be a bit forward, because Bowie knives are used for both wood processing and self defense these days. I imagine they're mostly used for batoning wood, etc. I have like 6 large Bowie knives, including the Ontario SP10 Marine Raider Bowie, which I consider to be the best. I was looking at the Cold Steel Wild West Bowie, but it's a bit too large, and the edge is a slightly jolie grind. That may be better for a knife fight, but it's not better for bringing into the woods.

    • @DDDYLN
      @DDDYLN День тому

      @@samuellipscomb8173 BTW, both the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie, and the SZCO Sable Bowie, are NOT stainless steel. They might be advertised as stainless, but they aren't. They typically arrive with rust spots on them, and they will rust if they're not kept oiled. I have no idea what kind of metal the Pakistanis are using, but I've seen videos of people getting the crap out of these knives, and the blade holds up. I'm just not a fan of the handle-heavy nature of both knives. I think the balance point was about 1" behind the pommel. It's difficult to believe, since these knives have rich long and thick blades. I'm not sure what materials they put in the handles, but much of it was too heavy.

    If you soak the rusted part in vinager over night a day or 2 longer depending how bad it is then the rust will just wipe off with a piece of cloth.
