The H-King FG-1 Corsair "Lucky Gallon" is the third in the mini-series from H-King, the "Reno Aces", WW2 fighters dressed to impress at the air races. The FG-1 Corsair "Lucky Gallon" with the included stock 3108-1070KV brushless motor offers a really quick model straight out of the box with speeds approaching 100mph when using the recommended 2200mAh 4S LiPo. However, if you are an experienced hand and are looking for 100+ mph speeds then there is the optional drop-in fit 3108-1170KV 'Pro' brushless motor. This will give your great-looking Reno Ace really ballistic performance on the same prop, ESC, and 4S battery for those that can handle the extra rotational torque on launch.
The Reno Aces FG-1 Corsair "Lucky Gallon" is a bent wing hot rod, it is fast, is very aerobatic, but is also a very stable flyer. Just like the other models in this range, it really grooves and feels locked in at full power, but slow it down and it is a real pussycat too, and just as much fun. The stall is very benign, it's basically non-existent, the controls remain effective throughout the complete speed range. Once you're done with your 6+min flight, fully flared landings are very easy to achieve and make belly landing the FG-1 Corsair a pure joy.
The full-size "Lucky Gallon" was the first Corsair to be used for racing and competed in the 1946 Cleveland Air Races. The pilot was Cook Cleland and he raced in the Championship Race, and achieved an average speed of 357.5mph, finishing in a credible 6th place.
The H-King version of this classic racing FG-1 Corsair comes "Plug N Fly" which means it has the motor, ESC, and servos pre-installed. The tough EPO foam is finished in the authentic color scheme of Number 92 "Lucky Gallon". Assembly is very easy and straightforward with its one-piece wing and simple slot in horizontal stabilizer (no glue required). Other features are the substantially reinforced fuselage, plywood and carbon are used to create a stiffened and strengthened fuselage, and motor box. Plastic skid plates are fitted to all the underside contact areas for protection when landing, and you are supplied with the option of both a clear, or a silver canopy to add the finishing touch to your Corsair.
So to summarize, the H-King FG-1 Corsair "Lucky Gallon" is fast out of the box with the pre-installed motor (optional 'Pro' motor available for even more speed), it has fantastic flying qualities with good fast and slow speed handling, is strong, and quick to assemble. It is a great contender for use at fun, club pylon racing events with the strength and maneuverability to do "Bank and Yank" pylon turns. A great, fun airplane that is brilliant to fly, looks fantastic in the air and will have you smiling from ear to ear the whole time you are flying it.

A little more than a year ago, my left shoulder 'popped'. Lost 90% of the feeling in my left thumb & pointer finger (the 2 most important ones for flying.) I flew the next day. Couldn't feel anything. I used a pointed m3x12 set screw in top of my nx8 (at the time. NX10 mow😁👍), & luckily WHEN i pushed down my thumb hard enuf, i could barely feel a bit of pain. THEN i could fly again! One MUST adapt to enjoy the hobby! Since then, the chiropractor has me/my left hand back to 75% usable & no more set screw. I got used to it & can 'feel' more now than then. WE gotta adapt & work with what WE got! 👍😁

One thing that never ceases to thrill me in model aeronautics is how everytime we maiden a bird we exclaim with such excitement and relief as if it's there was a very good chance that it wouldn't fly and that it is flying and stable is some sort of miracle, when in fact by the time we maiden our foamies they have been so comprehensively tested that it's pretty much a certainty that they will fly and fly well. It's something I do too but I love seeing others do it and none more enthusiastically than the P Brothers. Congrats on achieving flight with this beauty. I have the Arrows F4U with extreme scale detail, a bigger motor and ESC so I can swing a scale 13" 4 bladed prop on 4S - scale flaps that are split joined like the full size and lots of fine detail...and I absolutely love it, everytime it indeed leaps into the air my heart flutters.!

I can fully agree with your opinion on the Corsair. This plane moves like a bat out of hell and turns like cracy if you only look at the ailorons, but can still cruise around the airfield at a moderate throttle setting.

We have a Serbian bakery in our area where we always visit when we get a craving for that old country feel and taste and where we can just sit and chat (Lale Bakery on Lakeshore drive). The coolest thing is - they only have "coffee", none of this "gluten free triple macchiated short americano upside down soy cappuccino designer latte" stuff. No, just coffee, that's it. It's just something to help their incredible pastry go down, I love it! Every time I walk in and see the kremšnitta in their display, I think of you guys! They are very nice folks and treat us like friends and people who walk by stop and wave to them as they pass. You don't see this very often in a big city. It's a precious little piece of small-town Europe in the middle of North America...!

At about 9mins 26 - 9.50 or something there are some really atmospheric shots of this coming out of the dramatic Slovenian skyline.. Also the slow pass was 1st class (see what I did there? Poetry! 🤣).. You haven't lost your touch, boys.. Great hand tossing from Blaz, perhaps he's been practicing.. Good job you don't have to pay for fuel for this beautiful gull winged Reno Racer, all that shower gel can get expensive.. And a perfect flight from Pilot Robert, we DID notice especially the lovely flare on landing. That's how to keep the prop safe. Hoping you enjoyed your coffee. A pity about Brexit. Better to practice hand tiossing with planes then in the shower becouse of shower gel prices ;-) I love it William. At the end I really dont see what was so bad in EU. I dont feeel that we have less becouse we are in it. And I hope we will stay in it. We should all stand together and be strong.

Another Great Maiden in the books! I wasn't too interested in the Reno Race series initially, but this Corsair looks sweet! I have a bunch of 2200 4S batteries, so this one may very well be my next plane!
I think this one is worth clicking my friend.
Tower Hobbies sold the F4U Corsair Brushless EP Rx-R 39" for 99 US dollars (PNF) in 2018. At that time it still had a fixed landing gear that you could plug in if you wanted and was designed for 3S with a 1000 KV motor and 30 A controller. With the 9x4.5 prop she was slower but just as powerful as now with 4S 1070 KV motor and 40A ESC and 8x6 prop. She also had a painted pilot dummy but of course no second opaque canopy which I don't like anyway.
I like the current color scheme better, also because it's rare, as well as the design with the more powerful regulator, but that's maybe 7 dollars more, which was easily saved on the landing gear and the pilot dummy.
A great model to fly and probably the best in the HK series I think.
$99 in 2018 and $180 today in May 2022. Where has our monetary value gone? Is HK playful about its claim to be cheap? Hmm 45% depreciation since 2018 is unfortunately normal in many areas. It's best not to think about it, otherwise you'll give up the hobby.
Addendum: Maybe your center of gravity is right and the engine needs more camber. This is the case when the model starts to climb when accelerating quickly!
