My dad used to play with the piano exposed like that. The notes travel so much further and has a more rounded sound when you do it that way.

Wow, just WOW! I stumbled on this video and within minutes had tears streaming down my face. It's soft yet firm, smooth but chaotic, the rythems ebb and flow makes you feel something so deep inside your soul.
