- This is a 40 ft long backyard bowling alley. Pins automatically reset when you pull a handle. The balls return by gravity and lift to a convenient height when another handle is pulled. Built with plywood and 2x4s. The balls are 4.5 inch Bocce balls and oak pins are 10 inches .
I could listen to this all day long. They sound like wood chimes.
I play Ninepin in Germany. Here, stringed pins are normal but they are still different to this duckpin alley. Our strings don't hang down almost to the ground but are in a straight line from the pin top. If the ball (or 'sphere', how we call it) hit's the pin, the string will be released that the pin can move about 1 meter in each direction. Interesting to see such a way of stringed pins.
gilligan and the professor would be proud. that is why i subscribed a while back.:)
you should make a "How to Build" of this backyard alley, this is very cool!
All the best sounds. Music for my ears

How Does The String Pinsetter Work?
If you skip to 7:39 you'll see that when my husband pulls a lever, the pins are lifted into a frame and guided into resetting holes the size of the pins. Thanks for asking!
