Awesome job, you make it look so easy , but I know a lot of hard work went into getting that baby running. Loving it.

Just the thing for my birthday...4th of July....things that make smoke and noise!! Sounds Kinda' like my 46 Knucklehead Harley...we are the same age, both conceived in 1946...

It doesn't fire too often but when it does it makes a body sit up and take notice. Very cool machines those old hit and miss.

AWESOME. It done the job. Probably ground tons of corn meal in its time and fed hundreds of people.

same same -Yeah I was thinking how free running it is. Lovely engine.

    • @richardvaughn2705

same same Thats how it controls engine speed. When you add a load the engine has to fire more times to keep the speed up.

100 years old and counting off like new money. Saw them fire flies (Lightning bugs) in the back ground sparking off in unison with that buzz coil for a while there. It's magic.

,,, a, thanks,, engine coil voltage,, 12volts,,, lighting bug voltage,, unknown,,, and, I got a box in a box with a lot of little boxes inside the inside box,,, thank you,, upcoming video,,,

      @MrGunPilot 8 років тому +2

Well, I guess I created homework for myself with the unknown lightning bug voltage concern. Always a learning experience around here. Glad the box made it. No need for a documentary, it's just a few shop supplies for the most part to show our support for the channel.

That ol' boy knows what he's doing. Has a pre-EPA gas can. You take the cap off, tilt it up and gas comes out. No twisting the spout, pushing the safety shut off, hooking the nozzle safety plastic lips onto the fuel tank, pushing the can down to keep fuel flowing, and waiting as .005 cc's of gas flows out per minute.
I buy those "water can nozzles" that just so conveniently fit the old style gas cans, no more spilling half the can while i wait to fill the tank.
Damn, how i hate, Hate with a Passion, the F'en EPA.
Don't Even get me started ...

what I would like to see on this old galloway, (which is my ancestors name, [Galloway]), is hooking this up to a wood stove, with good damper control, running the smoke through an old steam radiator register, then running off the flywheels a v-belt to a either 3,500watt, or 5kw Generator head. Then since I live much further North I would get two items I need all winter. In summer I have solar panels, but in winter here, not only is it cold, but the sun doesn't shine. Plus needing home heat, and electricity. What I would like for storage is a flywheel battery, but since the company in Seattle would be liable if it blew up, they stopped building them. That way I could get by with a 3kw genset. However with an 8kw Galloway, I could easily control the house temperature, and make all the electricity I needed for the home heat plus warmth. I could use waste oil from cooking oil if necessary for lubrication if everything fell apart here in the New Kninted States, which are not at this time United in any fashion. I can put on my MAGA hat to prove that by walking downtown. Our Millenials have lost the way, and do not know how many people have been murdered by Socialista lovers. (Bernie Sanders, their lovebird, went to Moscow Russia for his honeymoon, after murdering all the Kulaks, which is what I am really, and do not like Commie Dogs one bit.

I have never seen a Galloway starting FAIRY, but this seems to be one of the Long FUNGUS TYPE. he seems to know what he is doing. there must be a plentiful supply of SHAMROCK to grow a fungus that well.

I'm curious if the speed the engine is running at is the normal operating speed when engine would be doing work

No, under load these engines usually fire once every rotation.

  • @tcmtech7515

These old engines are why nobody lived past 50 back then.
If they didn't kill you by that age when running, you killed yourself by that age just to get away from the work and frustration of getting them running.
