- Learn all you need to know to create this pendant from scratch, making a petal cane with neat square inserts and then using the petals to make a raised flower on a domed pendant. Tips and techniques are given throughout to help you achieve a professional looking finish.
I take you through the whole process, step by step, so sit back, relax and see how you can make one for yourself.
The CaneCaps, SquarePairs / Squarebenders and the Deep Shine UV Resin I used in the video are all from the Tiny Pandora Crafting Boutique, and can be found here: tinypandora.com/ . The Squarebenders give the graduated size of solid squares so useful for inserts, while the SquarePairs - normally used to turn round canes into square ones - come in pairs so are great at reducing neat square canes. Follow the link above to see what is available.

For any worried HOP people, Teresa is happy for both links to be given.
For alternate domes to bake your piece on, have a look around your house and see what you have to hand. Ceramic or glass bowls are good to bake on of they have a nicely domed side. Or an old spent lightbulb is good - add some extra clay to the bottom of the lightbulb first so it stands upright during baking. The bottom of a drinks cans provides a nice domed form. Carefully cut away the sides of the can, and tape them to avoid cuts. Sand off any printed numbers from the bottom of the can base, as they can transfer to the clay. Also, there are some metal spoons that can give a good domed effect too. Just see what you can find.

Thank you so much for watching.
You are so talented. I have worked with poly clay for many years, but am not as skilled as you are. Thanks for sharing your lovely items.
I am so glad you like them, thanks so much Lynda 🙂
I watch a lot of tutorial but you are the best. Such tricks in each tute. There was a lot of breaks for advertisement in the iris cane but... I understand that is how you survive. amazing work. Thank you for making it easier w such clear instructions.
Thanks so much Patty. Yes, I don't know if the advertising on the Iris cane was different, maybe I pressed a different selection? I will have to have a look at that for future videos. I do need them to earn a few pennies, but don't want so many that it puts people off. :)
That was great and very doable.
It is definitely doable, thank you Sue :)
I love using canes caps, I find I get so much less waste!
they are great aren't they Wendy, thank you :)
Love this. I will send you a pic when I'm done making one, if I can do it..

Thanks Kristine, give it a go, go slowly, and you could be pleasantly surprised :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals I actually thought it was a flower that had that resin poured on top. so I had a pleasant surprise to see what you made it from,

Another Great One, with fantastic teaching Fiona! Just wanted to let you know you can reduce faster with the square pairs by pushing or pulling them together on your square cane. They aren't just a guide for your roller. They can be squeezed together to reduce, just try to apply same pressure all the way around as you roll your cane. Thank you again, I just love watching you create.
Thanks so much Amy, yes they are new to me, so I was probably a bit slow at picking up on all they can do :)
Love them nice color combination
Thanks Margaret :)

Thank you so much Catherine :)
would be pretty if the center made a swirl out towards the red part
Go for it, I show the basics, then love it when people experiment and add their own take on it :)
I love watching ur videos. You've probably been asked a million times but when I make a long thin piece is there a way I can stop the clay from sticking together when it comes out of the pasta machine? Happy to hear from anyone about this, Thanks in advance :)
Thanks Wilsal :) Which clay do you use? Some of them are better at separating than others. I find the FIMO and the Kato separate easily, but the Premo for instance sticks to itself much more readily. If it is soft clay then, holding the bit you are putting through the pasta machine in one hand constantly, feed it through, do a few turns of the handle only, then pull the clay that has gone through out and unravel it. Lay it flat on your surface, still attached to the machine of course ;) Do a few more put handle turns, and pull it out flat, continue until you have a long stream flat and unfolded, stretching across your work surface - or often in my case across multiple things on my work surface!! If you don't have space enough to do this, have a stack of white copy paper to hand. Lay your strip on this as it comes through the machine, and once a sheet is full, add a new sheet on top, effectively doing a long concertina between sheets of paper. But of course, all of this manipulating is done with one hand, as that other hand still has hold of the clay you are feeding through the machine. So little by little, you can get a long thin strip that isn't stuck to itself. I hope that makes sense and is of some help? Good luck and I hope that works for you :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals you are such a sweetheart for helping me with this, I like the sound of the paper trick and will definetly try both ways you've suggested. Yep it's Premo I've been using, even with the cooler weather (Australia) it sticks terribly so next time I'll try some kato or fimo. Thank you so much :)
@@wilsal2485 Well if it is Premo you are using, at least you know it is not you, but the clay!! Try Fimo if you have some, or Kato, but don't go and buy something new, give the other tips a go first, as you can then keep using the clay you like :)
