- In this video review we can have a detailed look at the entire contents of the packaging as i unbox him. I’ll compare this new Paganini with the original G1 box. Then we can see how he displays in each mode. Plus see how his accessories work and look again in each mode.
Then finish up with some comparisons of other toys of him, toys in the same toyline and other generations figures.

Thanks a bunch!
@@ToysareRuss you're welcome toys are russ transformers have a greatest week god bless
As a fan of the original toy i had to get this 40th anniversary. Ive been a fan since day one. Love the packaging and colors. I do have the ss86 prime and i have the deluxe on preorder and the missing link too but i still had to get this. Great review. Great set.
Me too. I really didn’t need another prime. But I made an exception for this version. Thanks
I been collecting transformers since 2017 and this retro release was the first G1 prime with trailer I owned. I did pick up the Walmart robot release years ago and it felt a little naked. You would think it would be boring but it looks pretty good as a reissue and the play features on the trailer are still amusing.
Yeah even after all these years it’s still fun.
That blue Optimus prime is awesome
Thanks bud. It’s the diaclone original
Because the outward trailer stickers hide the screws from the two sitting side ports inside. One has two screws and the other one has one.
I can’t believe I never realised that until someone said it
Mine turned up today as well, i am really pleased with it especially after never owning one even as a child. To make my dreams come true id like a G1 JetFire but from what i hear i have about as much chance of getting a reissue of that as winning the lottery as companies cant play nice together.
Glad you got one too. Let’s all cross our fingers for a g1 jet fire in the future
Great review and comparison video. Optimus reissue looks awesome and the figure looks so close to the G1 original. Hopefully I can display mine. Great vid and have a nice day.
That would be cool, thanks for commenting
That is awesome transformers G1 autobots leader Optimus prime 40th anniversary toy. Just like cartoon 👍
That’s right
Got mine last week, also from IDT (fantastic place to get stuff like this over here), and I couldn't be happier. Was not expecting to get the nostalgia feels from this because it's, as you said, like nothing we've seen before. I'm not even a toon accurate guy but I just can't get over how nice it looks. The screws visible on the trailer are only because that part has always previously been covered with the blue striped sticker.
I can’t believe I didn’t notice it was because of no stickers.
@@ToysareRuss Easy thing to miss to be fair, I never really realised either until this one!
I bought the missing link toy colour version. When I decided I wanted the other one (animated) they were all sold out or at prices I didn't want to pay. Thus this fits perfectly instead of the animated missing link (and he comes with the full works rather than just the cab)
So it’s all worked out in the end.
I have all the Missing Links and I’m still getting this because I need to be stopped. 😂
I immediately put a rub sign on mine 😊
Great idea
awesome!!! mine is on his way to me from the UK
Really pleased you got one
I got a second 40th anniversary Optimus today, plus a 25th anniversary. the 40th was 50 bucks and the 25th was 100. In sealed boxes. The 25th has a comic and a DVD. I'm looking forward to getting the commemorative 2002 next month or an Ultra Magnus depending on prices. Because at the moment I can't drop another hundred on another Optimus.
That’s the problem when you start prime collecting. There’s just so many
@@ToysareRuss , the box being G1 style and the long smokestacks, quite a wondrous thing to see on the 40th. I want to get Blaster he is in a 40 dollar range. I did get Soundwave. I wonder if they'll be any more g1 reissues. All i collect is G1, with the exception of Toxitron Grimlock. All minty boxes except for the latest Optimus purchases. I did consider the studio series Optimus or Shattered Glass Optimus and Ultra Magnus. The masterpiece line is outside my price range. With exception of masterpiece toys r us 20th and he kind of sucks. I bought him for my nephew, i wasn't impressed for the price vs say the Takara had better paint and long smokestacks.
@ blaster is unfortunately over a year old now so I hope you find one somewhere
Incredible reissue, love the animation colours but first thing I noticed as you showed the box was that they presumably painted up a Commerative Series version to look like this 40th Anniversary Reissue for the box photography which was mentioned later on in the video. Wasn’t expecting the box to be smaller and I think the screws are showing on the trailer because there’s no sticker? Not sure if that’s a sticker or a paint application on the new version but if it’s a sticker I’m guessing the G1 trailer sticker covered the screws possibly.
Still one of the best Transformers ever made, one of the most articulated G1s as well and even with Missing Link being a thing it’s still extremely iconic and holds up amazingly well.
Really surprised a lot of people want Hasbro and Takara to no longer include the trailer, it does make sense for space and cost reasons but I thought people disliked the Walmart Reissue as it didn’t have the trailer.
Good insights as you say in to a very iconic figure.
Good thing they didnt cut the pipe stacks this time and kept the roller spring launching mechanism. Wish they haven't done it before on the 2002 toys r us reissue that i have.
I was very surprised to see full size smoke stacks back
Nice to compare the boxes, but unfortunately, you missed the comparison on the width of the box, as well as the height, including the flap. If those are the same, then it might still fit in a case.
The screws are visible, on the trailer, because it doesn't have the stickers hiding them.
The missiles have the same notches on them as later reissues, as well as the Missing Link.
Of course the stickers! 🤦 hope you can find one at the Nec pal
I got this guy for christmas 😁
He’s a great figure!
@ indeed
Thanks for the review. Was going to pass on this but now seeing the launcher I have to get him. That's the only trailer version i don't have.
No problem. Glad it was useful to you
Is the silver line on the chest done in paint or sticker? If I got two, I would want the cab not to have a silver stripe at all if you wanted it to look like the movie.
There’s no stickers on this at all bud
On the original the screws were hidden from the sticker on the side of the trailer
I can’t believe I never realised that.
@@ToysareRuss the picture on the box is Also the Reissue from the Commemorative series in the early 2000's
Do you think it's a new nmold mold both trailer and robot?
The cab is just the old mould painted. The trailer is a new mould
What is the difference between this one 40th and the Studio Series 86? Studio 86 is also cartoon accurate :-) or am I wrong?
Studio series 86 is a brand new completely different figure. This is the original 1984 mould painted like the cartoon.
Please explain what is "the missing link"
You need to watch my missing link video

I got it mostly for the box and trailer for my missing link
It’s a great figure and colour scheme
You're doing a hard sell twisting my arm😅 to get him
I can’t believe you haven’t gone for one
@@ToysareRuss Fungboy's son-Too many Primes to get!!!!
@@ToysareRuss just so many Primes to get. Was saving up for Missing Links now especially Sunstreaker or a Magma Convoy/ Power Convoy
Since you have mentioned the reissues, would you like to review the Encore Prime?
I could lend it to you to review if you wanted to do a comparison sir?
It’s ok bud. I appreciate the offer though
I'm just wondering when this is released in the US as Walmart Exclusive?
I’ve got no idea pal, sorry.
I thought it would’ve been out there by now.
@@ToysareRuss If that was the case TFW2005 site would have posted news about it.
Your TF one figures plastic already looks yellowed when next to the other guy . Maybe just the lighting
How much will it cost? Also G1 Nemesis when Hasbro?
This was £70
I just ordered one from Walmart for $88 shipped. Hopefully it will be here later in the week.
I really wanted to get this but now sold out from where you got it from 😢
I’m sure they’ve said they will have more in stock in time for mcm comic con in October
Is there any chrome on this figure or is it all metallic-looking paint?
No chrome at all. Which I did say in the video in numerous occasions
Metallic paint. This is a hyper toon/animation accurate paint deco. The chrome is from the original G1 toy designs. The Missing Link C-02 animation deco version kept the chrome because it was the link between original toy deco and animation with colors toon/animation colors plus modern articulation. There is a version on the G1 Optimus Prime for everyone and, if that isn't the case for you, just wait I'm sure the Missing Link mold will be re-released with these colors from the 40th anniversary version.
Did they make a new trailer mold? I thought original is toast.
Yes.
Yes they did
@ToysareRuss Have any other molds from g1 ever been remade? I can't think of another. G1 hound?
@@petergianakopoulos4926 yeah the retro reissue. Check that video out on this channel. It’s in the same playlist as this video
I have know idea when hes coming to Canada but hope not soon missing out on missing link then 86 now him I was goin get 86 or missing link if I had enough in less then a week but cant I really hate to do it but a KO maybe my only choice for a G1 style Prime cant even afford that😭
I’m sure you’ll get one of these pal as they’ll be around for ages
To me having the studio series 86 commnder class prime is already good enough. This 40th anniversary set is just unnecessary. Plus the missing link prime is already available. Hasbro just wants you to keep buying more then you need.
Seeing you putting the rifle slanting to one side just kills me. Haha!
It’s for all us older collectors who had the original as a kid
Did you have to import this or is it possible to get in the UK or EU?
It’s been available in the uk from Indemand toys since last week. I did say where I got this from at the start of the video
@@ToysareRuss Thanks
@@Nostalgic-mt6lr unfortunately it's sold out at In Demand now and even Star Action Figures only had it for a few days before selling out. It might pop up on Pulse as the other retro issues have before. But currently, until it's more widely available, it's out of stock. ebay might be an option but you will be paying over retail price for it.
@@Mogwell Thanks for the info.
I love how it looks, but its not a perfectly animated accurate look. The smoke stacks, and gas tanks, should be white, and Roller should be gray.
Will you still get it though?
Yes, definitely! Ever since I was a kid I wanted my Prime to have white legs and waist. Even though I got Missing Link C-02, I gotta have this one too.
The missiles can be used as a cannon
