  • In this video we update a Hummer H2's old Bose stereo. We start with replacing the his older Kenwood radio with the new Kenwood Excelon DDx9903s. All the speakers get upgraded to Access by Focal. The doors get Road Kill sound deadening and Fast Rings. We add 2 Sony GS amps to power the new system. Lastly we a add a backup camera so he can see in the past. Thanks and enjoy

    Man, that was a clean install. I have been in the high end residential and commercial Security and AV business for over twenty years and love seeing work like that. I am in Texas but seeing your work does it for me. I will call you and see what we can set up. My 2006 H2 is presently in surgery having a new engine installed with some upgrades of course. Next it will be the AV.

    Did the steering wheel switches work on the Kenwood radio? Done this conversion myself with the ASWC-1 Universal steering wheel control cable, works fine, but now the other switches on the steering wheel (to check odometer, select language, check oil service etc) doesn't work anymore, any chance you could tell me where to look to fix it?

    im a little confused. Why did you make the harness when adding the crossovers? Did you guys use the stock speaker wires? and if you did, is it just bc it was cheaper? I thought for this type of install you would wanna go with thicker gauge speaker wires.

    What do you use to keep the steering wheel control when installing a Kenwood to an 03 Hummer H2?

  • @philindeblanc
    @philindeblanc 7 років тому +2

    If an installer used those hair thin copper coated wires for front component speakers, would you go through the trouble of replacing them, or is it fine, and that I wont hear the difference? (well, maybe you might, but should I if its a bit hassle in doing the wiring?)

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому

      The size of the wire is relevant to the power and distance. So how ton are we taking and is it really copper? More then likely you will not hear a different unless you are really trying to.

    • @philindeblanc
      @philindeblanc 7 років тому

      Five Star Car Stereo
      Its going from under the right seat and up the floor to the dash and across on the left channel on a medium to large size SUV (Toy HLander). So its not that far, BUT, the neg wire is silver color and the pos wire is a copper color BUT when cutting you can see it is white/silver color inside. And they are super thin strands that makeup I think 16 or 14 guage. This the installer used.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому +1

      Yeah your good, that will do the job. I know the stuff your talking about.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому

      It was 80 watts X 4. For a 3 way set I would try for 110 to 125 watts. Mainly I would want the more power to push though the crossover.

    Stumbled upon your channel, LOVE IT! Love the clean wiring, couple quick questions it's been about 2yrs since I did a basic "hidden install" on my truck and I'm thinking of upgrading, do you guys use factory speaker wire or replace it all? What do you guys think of Morel speakers are they worth the high price or any other recommendations for some really good components? Sturds S. when it comes to new wire it really depends on the job and car. I love Morrel, my home stereo is all Morrel. We do not sell them in the store unfortunately, we have Focal and Hertz.
