If I remember correctly, there's an Apartment Building on top of the Pitkin Yard. When I was a little boy, my Mom used to take me to visit her friends. I tried to sneak downstairs to look at the Trains. This brought back so many memories!
I grew up in the apartment buildings above the yard (Linden Plaza), we use to trespass on a regular basis. One time me and my friends got caught our punishment was cleaning subway cars-I was offered a job afterwards- I just retired last month as a T/O- 31 years went by so fast.
i remember when the Linden Plaza Housing Project were being built above the pitkin yard back in the early 1970s. before then, the yard was out in the open.
Wow. I remember going there in the 80’s to hit A&C trains. Had to climb down wall on ramp. Crazy yard. Easily could get robbed by crews if you went solo. Just the walk from Euclid train station was sketchy!
Boy this brings some memories back. I grew up in Howard Beach. When I was a kid then my mom would drive my younger brother and me to the Linden Blvd. gate. This was before they built the apartment buildings above. So there was a big solid wall and in the center a gate made of the similar metal fencing at the beginning of the video. Mom would park on the gravel driveway in front of the gate and I got out to look at the trains. Whe one went into motion it was a jackpot. I also got to see them build the monstrous structure above the yard. I hope you get an iPhone 14 Pro in the future. Higher resolution and stabilization will make your videos even better. Still, thanks for your video, great memories.
Oh man, I see the pitkin yard is using the speaker system to scare away the pigeons. Its the exact same system we had at my Airborne Express terminal in NJ back in the late 90s, with the exact same sounds of birds being tortured. Not only did it take a while for us to get used to hearing this every day, the birds adapted to noise and the system didnt even work.
1983. I'm a new C/R, drumming up an R-10 for 'C' service here. Only place where you ask for a 'taxi' to get you to Euclid Ave, cuz the walk to Grant Ave, alongside a dangerous park AND crossing the Conduit, was bad.
@@TeddysGaming I worked with T/D Marie Flores, God bless her. Especially for the female employees would she use her switchmen to long relay. Adding that the R-10 had a only an 18 second brake penalty, you could dump the brakes at one end while going full speed, and by the time the train came to a full stop (iron brakes, remember), the train was charged, ready to go in the opposite direction.
Looks like the (A) line will get the new R211s first. If I recall correctly (and I do) the (A) line was the first to get the R10s as well back in 1948. BTW I was born in 1948.
Usually the newest subway trains are given by " seniority" the lines with the oldest get the newest first or those with the mismatched consists. Lately trains rarely get switched around and live on the route forever! Such as the R69 on the D. They were the first to get them and they stayed there!
Honestly it’s the person guarding the gate’s fault. Since my father works for the MTA he showed him the badge and the person saw me to and he still let me in. He was on the phone tho so i guess that’s why but he just let us in like nothing and we just said “ok”.

I wish I would’ve gotten caught too. Maybe I’d be retiring about now!😊
Those R32’s there is extremely interesting they look the best!!
Ikr. I think this yard has the most R32’s out of 207th St yard, concourse yard, and the Coney Island yard.

Yes no problem

The LIRR put plastic owls under the platform canopies at Jamaica to try to scare the pigeons away and it didn't work there either.
Nope

Is there an apartment above this yard?
Yea Linden Plaza
Ye
Cool reminds me of Esplanade gardens on the 3 train.
I used to watch the trains in this yard from that location @1:01-@2:15
Hopefully they preserve some R32s instead of hauling the rest of them away for scrap
They will
Was r46 car 6214 inside ?
Not sure. I couldn’t go to the other side of the yard.
@@ToTG I see thank you for telling
@@Yujin7506 np
What are they going to do with the R32 i thought it was retired
It retired for revenue service. Those cares look like they'll be preserved.
There is at least one set being restored for the Transit Museum. These cars are probably being kept for non-revenue service
All of the 32s have been taken off the roster and other than the ones in the museum don't exist and will eventually be scrapped
It’s a shame that all those historic tags on the pillars were painted over.
6:22 R32!!!!!!!!!
How do you ask full permission?
Why were there so many R32s?
It’s pitkin yard so if they dont need the r32’s in 207 or Coney Island overhaul shops, they will just store them here
This yard is near my school
How’d you get permission?

I know this is a year old. The 32 and 42 are gone.
r46 you mean
Possibly. When i uploaded this i didn’t know the difference between the R40M, R42, and R46
Это что такое, депо или пункт отстоя электропоездов?!!!!!
