- In 1960, Liza Minelli sang her mother's (Judy Garland) most famous song from the wizard of oz. over the rainbow. a few years later, Liza played her first role in a cartoon sequel of the wizard of oz called "Journey back to oz" where she played the role of Dorothy Gale that made her mother a Legend. Liza did the recordings for this film in 1962-1963, but the film wasn't actually released until 1972. when Liza found out the film was going to be released, she begged the creators to let her redo her lines and songs because she sounded too much like her mother and at the time was trying to make a name for herself in her own right and not just as Judy Garland's Daughter.
the audio is from a 1960 tv special entitled "Heda hopper's Hollywood" and I edited the visuals from the film "Journey Back To Oz" - Фільми й анімація

Judy would be proud of her daughter
I'm sure she was! She did not live to see the movie completed, but she was there when Liza was cast.
Wait a minute, New Dream Judy and Liza Oz Collection; 2 Judy and Liza Oz Movies in VHS, 2 Tom and Jerry Oz Movies in DVD-Videos, and 1 Liza Oz Music Video on I-Tunes.
Liza had voiced Dorothy in the 1972 film after Judy Garland died on June 22, 1968 from a barbiturate overdose in London, England
Liza had in fact recorded her lines in 60's, but Filmation ran out of money for doing the animation, so they had to build up funds first. And did we really need to hear about Judy's frigging death *again?*
She did not sing this song in that movie. Also, she did not ask to reloop her dialogue, just her singing, because she had developed her singing voice since the initial recordings.
You mean it was re-recorded when Filmation picked the project back up after it had been shelved for eight years?
@@thomasschnettler4021 No, all the music and dialogue tracks had been recorded in the 60's. The problem they ran into was a lack of funds for the animation. Once they'd built up enough money from their other, less expensively produced projects, they were finally able to finish the movie.
I didn't give the rest of the story about Liza, however; she did ask to re-record her songs, but the people in charge said she sounded perfect. She listened again to the tracks and decided that yes, she sounded more convincing as a child when she was actually a teen.
@@MaskedMan66why do i see you everywhere Judy garland related
@@emanuelpinette7208 I see me wherever I go. And this is Liza Minnelli-related. 🙂
@@MaskedMan66 it was a typo lol
That is not Judy's kid. Doesn't even sound close.
She is Judy's daughter. She just didn't inherit the level of skill that Judy possessed naturally.
That is indeed Liza Minnelli. Don't talk like an idiot.
