Germ free Adolescents is another brilliant track by X-ray spex. I’m still hoping you find time to check out John Foxx. Underpass and The Garden are 2 of my favourite tracks.
I'm so glad you guys gave THE X RAY SPEC'S a chance and didn't get put off on your first reaction polystyrene was a true Punkrock warrior what she represented in the late seventies was unitie and real girl power!(not the spice girls Verizon)
Its difficult to get across to people these days, just how mind blowing it was that a girl could front a band then. Not just that, but it was a great band, with a lot to say, plus she was mixed race. That would have been an insanely empowering realisation for people at the time, when everything was very white and very male. Definitely something of a pioneer and national treasure.
What is a punk sound? every punk band had tunes that sounded mainstream to pretty much every genre, i don't think that a "punk sound" ever really existed and it was more about the performance and delivery of it!
@tecdessus Ta, I wrongly assumed they originated over here. Are there still Woolies over there? We don't see them over here nowadays, I don't even know if they still exist at all.
We never saw a Woolworth when we were growing up, but we'd heard the name, and we knew what it was. They must have been very popular in the States, as they were clearly a pop culture reference.
@tecdessus I wish they wouldn't take auld buildings oot. There's a bit of that happened over the years over here and the new buildings they replace them with are never as nice and often don't fit in well at all.
She's bloody awesome
It totally sucks she's not here with us in the living world 😢 she was/is BRILLIANT AWESOME
SHE WAS
POLYSTYRENE R.I.P
This brought a smile to my face. I haven't heard this since the early 80s
Poly Styrene , the singer cracked the recent Rolling Stone list of 200 greatest vocalists of all time. She placed # 195. Nice 🎷 on this track 👍
That's interesting, any idea when that was? A rough idea would be fine as it's not that important, I'm just curious.
@SPKdesign1 It just came out this year. Rolling Stone still publishes once a month.
@@davidellis5141 Ta. I'll try and get a look at that as I'm curious about who else is on the list.
One of my favorite bands.
I remember the first reaction, it was all a bit 😮
Glad you stuck with them.
They're very quirky.
Fond memories 😀

@@Sandy-dd4le she had a real sparkle for life one of the greats
@@Sandy-dd4le I'd add Pauline Black to the list along with Beki Bondage

Fair enough.
I'm glad you gave them a second chance. Not sure if you had Woolworths over there. It was a High Street store.

@tecdessus I remember as a kid going there and getting cheap sweets. Their Pick 'n Mix was very popular.
