Powerful talk by Umar Faruq Abd-Allah. As a child, without any religious teaching, I was amazed by the beauty of the creation spending hours in observation. The birds flying, the way ants or the bees were organized in their work. The way spiders were patiently waiting for their pray. The way an empty garden was growing into beautiful colors of different fruits during spring in my parent's garden in France. The feelings I had when biting into a freshly grown tomato or an apple during the fall. The only words that would have encompassed and appeased my excitement and pleasure at that time would have been Al-hamdu lillahi rabbil 'alamin, because inherent to my nature I knew that it was a gift and I had no way to express my gratitude for these creations. I became a doctor in biological science and at each discovery or finding, the same feelings invade my body except that today I have the words: Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin ar Rahman i Rahim. La ilaha illallah.
There are indigenous tribes that have no concept of a Supreme God or Creator, I've often wondered how this would work with this understanding of fitra?
Even in the absence of Divine Book human beings would always worship something greater than themselves. Be it in forms (antrophomorphized natural forces--deities, great natural & celestial) or abstract concepts/ attributes (fertility, beauty, perfection, etc.). For God is "behind" all these things. In this respect, human consciousness & ubudiyyah is of different gradation/stages. If I'm not mistaken Imam Al Ghazali discussed this in Misykatul Anwar. In the end He gives guidance to whomever He pleases.
Inclinations.. & Its obviously a Test . Protection of our Heart & Purification to be connecting with the Divine Breath in Us .. What I know is That our Messenger S a w Heart was Washed by Angels ... The fitrah is eternally pure. The darkness is a result of the fitrah being clouded. Sort of like there is not such thing as cold, only the absence of heat.

What is the best evidence for the Fitrah ? The oldest traces of religion point to animism.
does not the firta/primordial nature have a dark side?

Is the Fitrah falsifiable?
