How to Easily Move/Slide Heavy Furniture with a Potato

  • Are you going to paint a wall? Or maybe rearrange your furniture?
Putting a slice of potato under each leg of the furniture will reduce the friction, and thus making it much easier to move the furniture around. Be aware that you might have to change the potatoeslides if you let it stay for too long.

This is honestly amazing. At first we thought this was a joke but we just moved two enormous wardrobes with the strength of a badly underfed field mouse. Amazing!

DAMNN!!!! THIS WORKED LIKE A CHARM on my marble floor. Just moved a cupboard.
It would help if there are more than one person , because if the slices are not even size smaller ones slips and u wud need to insert it again. I did it alone because I was sceptical that it would work so i did it alone in the morning before my wife wakes up and finds another opportunity to call me an idiot again. But trust me try it out..the weight freaken glides ........ I even made a video when it worked to prove to my wife it wasn't some dwarfs that helped me. :)

EXCELLENT! I'm surprised the potato doesn't smush down or break apart with that weight on it AND then pushing too, but I'm gonna try it!
    Thanks.

Sondre THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for sharing this awesome tip/technique that works really well. I have several physical problems including arthritis in my back; even so, me and my 3 y/o were easily able to push a rather heavy wooden armoire across the house without causing any damage to it or the hardwood floors. My son was really happy to "help" mommy move furniture.

Just moved an antique upright piano on our hardwood floor. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip. Oh, btw: we recommend using at least a 3/8” slice and it should be uniform in thickness or it will not be as effective. Cheers!

Yes, it worked for me, completely yes, moved our heavy central island.
We did uplift with the help of car jack and placed potato underneath the feet of island.and moved very easily.

Clever, but I have used scraps of carpet turned upside down. It works just as well, and you can store the carpet pieces in a zip-lock bag for the next move.

I cannot believe that a potato can be used for this 🤦‍♂️🤣 I'm surprised it doesn't just smash under the weight lol. This is great but I don't know how one arrives at the conclusion that they're going to use a potato to begin with lol I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years 🤣
