I break my soil for 20 minutes at 400°F that way I kill off any eggs that might be inside of it. I know it kills some of the nutrients as well so I always fertilize later. Since I started baking my seed starter compost before I use it I haven’t had any issues with bugs in it.
Very informative video about lisianthus! Thank you. They really are such a beautiful AND CLEAN looking flower, so much like a rose, but without all the thorns and pruning hassles of a rose. You know when you were talking about the joy of starting them from seed and nurturing their growth throughout the season to then being used in floral arrangements and what a good feeling that is to know you helped bring their life along especially considering that lisianthus are more picky (it was beautiful what you said), it reminded me of a poem I had done a quick drawing of and placed on my refrigerator years ago by David Hobson: "I grow plants for many reasons: to please my eye or to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience, for novelty or for nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow." That basically sums up exactly what you were sharing, which really is the joy of gardening. Best of luck and may all fungus gnats be banished from your grow room, HA!! 😊🌹
I saw on Epic Gardening that fungus gnat larvae can be killed by watering weekly with a 3%hydrogen peroxide solution. I think it''s 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water.

Thank you for sharing! So far it’s been good this year… hopefully it stays that way! 🤞🏻 😁

Thank you for the tip! 👏🏻☺️
Were to get lisianthus flower seeds
I get mine from Geoseed.
You might check Pepperharrow in Winterset. I thought I heard they were going to sell plugs this year. Not sure about their pricing though.
Thank you! They aren't too far from me either. That would be excellent!
