    Lived in that area for most of my life. In fact my grandpa’s farm was about an hour or so from Lambert’s Cafe where you ate. Tons of cars spread throughout his farm. Trucks, Old muscle cars, tons of Jeep’s, you name it its there. My family never traded cars, they’d drive it then park it in the field when they bought something else. I’ve been dying to save them, but the family refuses to let them go. Now my uncle lives there and keeps adding to the field. Lots of properties like that around there.

      The food isn’t nearly as good as it was when Lambert’s was just a small cafe. I believe this is the 5th location in Sikeston since it first opened. We used to eat at there when it was at Main and Malone at the center of town. It probably seated 25-30 people max, but the food was so much better. The food is still good, but now it is more about oversized servings and putting on a show. The rolls are amazing though. It is more of a tourist place, locals don’t eat there as much, especially during the summer. There will be lines going all the way around the building to get in. You have got to really want to eat there to wait out in the heat and humidity of “Swamp East” Missouri.

    • @mopar_dude9227
      @mopar_dude9227 4 роки тому +9

      @@richardbuck7755 nope, Lambert’s started in Sikeston. The first location opened in 1942, it wasn’t until Norm Lambert took over the business that it got famous for “Throwed Rolls”. It was during a extremely busy lunch rush that he couldn’t get to every table to deliver rolls and someone shouted ou “throw ‘em”, and Norm did. As a kid, we would go to the Main and Malone location to eat once a week. The building was small and seated 25-30 people, but the food was so good. Now it is about huge portions and the show.

    I lived in Dexter for over twenty years, interesting town and I remember when the plant was still in business. Sherm Smith Classic Cars is also located there. There is no telling what you will come across back in those hill; be sure they know you are coming. Lambert's started out in a small building in downtown Sikeston. "The cafe was started in Sikeston in 1942 by Earl Lambert, assisted by his wife Agnes, his brother Robert, and Robert's wife Ruby. In 1976 Earl's son Norman "'Ole Norm" Lambert, a former football coach at Sikeston High School, took over management. It was Norman who started the tradition of throwing rolls to customers. In 1981 he explained, "I started throwing rolls about four years ago when we were in our old cafe. It was too crowded one noon for me to serve the rolls to a customer and somebody yelled, 'Throw em.' So I threw them. So, now I do that about every noon meal and during the evenings too. The rolls are fresh, right out of the oven". It's a friendly area and Dennis fit right in.

    At 26:49 Dennis makes mention of how sand can actually protect against rust. This is sooo true. I bought a van once that was sitting in sand for 10 years. It actually sunk so far into the sand, the fuel tank was buried. It took two tow trucks to get that van out of there. One tow truck to get the first one that got stuck in the sand. Long story short, no rust and with a new battery, the van started right up! no lie! Something about that sand protected the fuel and metal.

    How on Earth does this channel have only 185K subs?? 😳 This should be 1 million no problem. Dennis makes Gas Monkey Garage look like Romper Room!

    • @fourleafcloveer5011

      Yeah but usually a channel has subscriber's with only half or less actually watching the video. On this channel, 90% of subscriber's watch the videos. And yes I agree. I just wanted to point that out.
