I just love the shades of purple, and thanks for sharing all the techniques. I always enjoy watching your creativity. You have a unique style that encourages me to play with my supplies more and try things in different ways.
I always so enjoy watching your creative process but it absolutely cracked me up watching your hands sped up on this! To stinkin funny! Thanks so much for all you do!
At the end of the week my mom would take all the leftover food and mix them together. That reminds me of this video. You used a lot of mediums to create a yummy set of cards.
These turned out beautifully! I like the yellow one.. it seems more mumsy to me, happy and fresh, but the purple/green one is definitely my favorite too.. it seems young and funky :)
Hello Lindsey, I hope you are doing great! I really need to catch up on your videos, I haven't watched any of them since 2016 (life got in the way) and I'm so happy that popularity has not changed you from your happy, amazing self!
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I am flattered that you remember that about me. I hadn't played with stencils a whole lot. I am now using those frequently. I made a DIY stencil paste that I like. I had been in a bit of a rut. Its fun doing some totally different things, while using supplies I have. I am embracing what you say about adding more when you are in the hot mess stage
Purple is my favorite color. Violet is close. I hope I am finally able to buy more things this year. Like more clothing and such my favorite color. I guess we will see.
I'll never understand how you can know the color by seeing it like this. :( Very beautiful, Lindsay! I wish you would do a video on the Jane Davenport and Prima watercolor tins and tell what colors they are, some are named fun names but most are not. I love how you grabbed a purple sweater, too.
In love all over again! Pantone Color of The Year 2018 is the theme of our ATC Swap in March! Can’t wait! I will be so chic thanks to you! Woo-Hoo! I am a novice! 💜
I'm not brave, enough to experiment like u do but these r really pretty & im going .to try some of the ideas I've learned from watching this video. I find u so joyful & creative to watch. I've been painting my cards but really want to try some stamping now. I Teach adults to paint with WC & acrylic, pen & ink, etc so I get lots of ideas watching your painting videos also. Please don't ever change. You r a delight. Jewell
Wow! I learned to much with the process of these techniques. I would've given up, but you showed me that sometimes a HOT MESS can be saved. Thank you for the video
Hi Lindsay! Yeah, I love this color too! I love what you did i this video too. Especially when you show your different attempts at getting the color and texture, etc. the way you wanted it. I go through this kind of thing a lot! So it's nice to see the expert doing the same ;-) Yours turned out fantastic, btw. I love when you do card tutorials! Thanks!
I love it when you use use the word "monochrome" in the correct context, Lindsay. One of my silliest pet peeves is that there are so many blog articles on Pinterest describing a colour scheme which claims to be monochromatic, but which usually turn out to be a black & white combination, which is neither 'mono' (one) nor 'chroma' (colour). I'm always happy when people get it right, I'm so easily pleased LOL :D Also imho, the yellow complimentary contrast works best with purples which have more blue than red.
I'm not a purple fan BUT.... These are gorgeous!!! I have a lot of purple lovers who watch my channel so I'm going to make sure I use the ultra violet more!! Thanks for sharing this!!!! 💜🖤💜🖤👑
Even though violet is not my fav color, I admit that these cards are beautiful and classy. I might give violet a try in my paintings, I might be surprised ;) Thanks for the video :)
awesome! You will be seeing a lot of purple in store this year so if you have need for any housewares or accessories keep an eye out. Purple is a hard to find color, I just saw a kitchenaid mixer come out it purple and it looked really chic!
Expertly rescued! I always look at the tools or mediums you have used in your videos. I don't have a Geli plate but on looking at the price..I think I can be creative with my backgrounds and live without one. Might invest in a roller to move mediums around...I have already broke my New Year resolution with regards to spending!
Dear Lindsay totally love your creative juices and how you used the color which is my fav!! Please can you help me out? Where do you get such fine stencils? And is your seam binding is it rayon or silk? Is there a source for the seam binding? ! I like how you share every step! Blessings and joy, grace
This was so fun and what a gorgeous color! Is “Pantone Color of the Year” something that’s done every year? If so, I think it would be great if you did a tutorial based on Pantone’s yearly choice. A celebration of color - the Color of the Year.
You could have thrown some salt on this project while drying! I love the texture from the salt and I use this in my watercolour backgrounds. Twelve months ago I would not have been able to contribute to discussions and put forward ideas! I am so proud of my skills gained from videos like yours and others on UA-cam, thank you so much for your time and effort, most appreciated.
This is gorgeous...I love the deep purples! I wondered if you had to choose 1 or 2 peg stamp sets that you could get the most versatility from, which would you choose? I keep looking at them, and I want them all! Lol! I'd like flowers, vines, leaves, etc. that I can mix up.
Very pretty, not my favorite color but still got some ideas. You've said many times that acrylic painting is not your favorite and I can understand the drawbacks to it, but there is a guy from Oklahoma, Jerry Yarnell that does some pretty amazing painting's in acrylic. Not sure if he has a website, but do know that he does acrylic painting workshops. When you are not too super busy, just thought you might want to check this out. Hoping you and yours are staying warm. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
I was so excited when I heard a shade of purple was the color this year. It's always been my favorite color. When I was a kid my purple crayon was always the shortest and it was the most used in my watercolors, too. I had a lavender room, and when I got to be a teen in the 70s lavender liquid eye shadow was my go to. I just finished crocheting my friend a diagonal pattern scarf in purples and varigated blue, purple, and green. Her favorites. Your cards came out lovely. Is the seam binding you used a non-fold flat and does it matter if it's cotton or polyester? Thanks for all you do!
Aquanet still rocks, I ran out of my normal expensive stuff so used my art aquanet and I decided to keep a can for hair! I use 100% rayon hug snug seam binding. it is flat, like a ribbon (not folded like bias tape) I prefer natural as it crinkles more but I have bought other colors on sale:)
Love the backgrounds!! I could hear u talking to me today. But I felled to listen. 😕. I stopped at Tuesday Morning and bought 2 pkg of shimmer paper. I stopped at Jo Ann’s and bought a pkg of Tim Holtz gold /silver metallic paper (60% off w coupon yesterday only).
This is my favorite cards you've made and I'm not a fan of purple. They are eye catching. I have a question please, what is seem binding and why do you use it in place of ribbon? I loved this video
Would the Prima Watersoluable Oil Pastels work the same as Gelatos? I would also love to know the stencil name and brand used for the inside of the card. I love it. Thanks for this fun tutorial.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich all she wore was purple & everything in her house was purple. I loved her character though. I thought her purple obsession was cute.
Hi Lindsey!! I was so excited when I learned that the color of the year was ultra violet!!! Pretty much any shade of violet or purple are my favorite!! A few years ago I painted my bathroom eggplant...then I put an iridescent glaze on top of the paint!!! It turned out awesome!!! Anyway I sure wish I had been with you today playing in the paints and inks...looks like you had an awesome time!! I think I like the card without the yellow also!! And oh my goodness AQUA NET...my mom used that stuff!!! I used it myself to seal art projects I made when I was younger...but I do have a very hard time with the smell!! But for a sealer it’s cheap and it works!! Thank you Lindsey for sharing this video...I am definitely inspired!! 💜💜💜
I love purple too. I have painted my bedroom light purple before also. Right now my curtains are eggplant colored in my bedroom. ( and my accents on my bed and walls)
Wow absolutely love the look but in the beginning it was like Lindsay in wonderland. That was a great big rabbit hole. Lol how does that happen?? And when it does I always say we'll didn't I learn a lot. Lol I kept yelling pearl ex. You didn't hear me . I love the color so much. Maybe instead of the yellow I really liked the gold with the purple color . But you always do such amazing things with any medium you work with. Your just awesome.
Embossing/die cutting machines.....I am very tempted BUT keep putting the urge to purchase one...I do have embossing folders and at the moment I wet watercolour paper and place in folder and press down to get the impression and then I look at projects that involve die cutting! At some stage within the year I think I will purchase a machine!
This is the last comment on this project...I promise! I am struggling with regards to envelopes...I usually fold A4 stock to make A5 then look at measurements to make envelope..I end up handing out my cards without an envelope which is totally unprofessional of me! Is C5 A5? What do you recommend ...I have started quilling! which i love and mixing it with a bit of stamping so sometimes the envelopes I need to create need to compensate in size for the quilling design .
My recommendation is a tool that lets you make thick envelopes, it is by crafters companion, let me see if I can find a link for you (but feel free to get it wherever it is best for you if you want it) it's called the Envelobox creator and you can make up to 8"x8" boxes up to 1" thick. I have used these to make thick envelopes and it works great and is cheap. It comes with inches or centimeter instructions. amzn.to/2DOx2wM Since the envelops are thick they won't pop open on you. It's about $14
Love the cards. I also love the stamps you used. I have gone on their website many times, but hesitate to place an order. I don't use paypal or any other payment option. I just use my debit card because that's all I have. I wonder about how safe that is with websites I am not familiar with. What do you suggest. I want those two sets of stamps!! Keep on creating cards. That is my first love...cardmaking. I was ill during the first part of December, so really fell down on my card making. Sent a few, but maybe next season will be better! Love what you do!
Hi Jim, I think you could print off your order and send a check. I personally know the owners and they are good people and they have the secure lock on their website. they have an email and phone number on their site, you can call between 9-5 m-F ET if you want to inquire about mail order: pegstamps.com/contact-us I hope you are feeling better now:)
Jim Flack you could order over the phone with a credit card. It's just as safe as any other company. I hate to see you are missing out on their stamps. They are great. And a great company!
Jim - Paypal is wonderful and your information is not at risk since it's not sent to the vendor. You should give it a try! Also, I got some peg stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and used them at Christmas. They're pretty amazing. You really can't go wrong using them. I am no artist, but the stamping I did with those came out beautifully!
Lindsay, they're amazing. It was so much fun watching you go through it all. LOVE the outcome. They're both gorgeous. Thank you so much. I hate to hear the very mention of baby wipes now. One of my children, (youngest one is 12 and oldest 26), had a severe allergy to them. Wiped them clean one day and a few minutes later that entire area, front to back, exploded in bleeding ulcers. Great for the craft room but don't use them for the name they go by. Should be "not for baby" wipes. Love your videos Lindsay. I've learned so much from you and continue to do so. You're a star
I gave up using them in the craft room a few months ago because I was going through so many it felt like a waste. Every now and then I miss them like for some art techniques or cleaning the gelli plate but cloths and paper dowels do as good and I use way fewer. How scary to have a reaction to them with your baby, scary!
And so painful too. Any wetness was like acid on her skin. Every time their lip quivered (do they all do that? So cute) we were on it. Even delaying for a second could set the healing back by weeks. So, so bad. Thank goodness that's waAaay behind us now. Yeah, and you're dead right, much better for our lovely home, Earth, to use the tissue and water - no chemicals, no pollutants, no sick fishies etc.
I have oil pastels...which are a lot cheaper than Gelatos? I do apologise for all my comments BUT I am becoming a frugalcrafter under your influence Lindsay.
I loved the mijello pure pigment set, and it's really hard to find most of the watercolors brands where I live and they are really expensive ( the set with 12 Cotman colors is 150 reais what is around 42 dollars) so I would like to buy a really good watercolor when I travel to U.S ( sorry for the bad english)
Do you have the Mission gold set already? It is hard to beat that value. If you have that set maybe choose a few colors you don't have. The Qor sets are a good value especially if you can order from websites like Blick, jerry's artarama, amazon or merriartist.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I was hoping you were going to say something else. Some magic answer. That is the only way I have found to clean my hands after crafty fun. Doing the dishes. Which is not my favorite but maybe god did that to force me to do the dishes more. .
Yeah I was wondering about that too, C Well! Lindsay, you sure don't mind getting right in there and getting dirty! Yeah, I usually just do some dishes and that takes care of the stains too. ;-)
I love your purple fingers. I live with stained fingers from cake decorating all the time. The backgrounds are FABULOUS!
New stamper.....I don't have any purple!!! Great inspiring video Frugal Crafter!!! Thank you!!
The white background is perfect for setting off your work! These turned out beautifully and it was fascinating to watch your creative process!
Lindsay, I love to your cards are so "artsy". I find just that just stamping cards becomes so humdrum. Thanks for being the artist inspiration for me.
Love the purple theme, especially different shades to add interest. Pretty!
Your cards are so very classy! Thanks for all of your videos! I am always happy when I see you have posted something new!
thanks!
This is my favourite video of yours just because my favourite colour is purple I'm in heaven with these cards lol
Gorgeous!!! So many cool techniques! Thank you Lindsay! 💜
OMG you are the QUEEN of crafts I love all your posts THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO
Hello Lindsey, I hope you are doing great! I really need to catch up on your videos, I haven't watched any of them since 2016 (life got in the way) and I'm so happy that popularity has not changed you from your happy, amazing self!
thank you! Welcome back!
I LOVE these! I think I will be pulling out my gelli plate again. That last layer of silver paint was AMAZING!
thank you! With the massive amount of card you make you would get good use from the backgrounds:) I hope you are well, great to hear from you!
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I am flattered that you remember that about me. I hadn't played with stencils a whole lot. I am now using those frequently. I made a DIY stencil paste that I like. Lindsay, your tutorial is nothing short of fantastic. I think I can be an artist too now!!!
thank you and yes you can!
Purple is my favorite color. Violet is close. I hope I am finally able to buy more things this year. Like more clothing and such my favorite color. I guess we will see.
there will be a lot available!
Wow...I so enjoyed this Lindsay and your knowledge of everything crafty always blows my mind! Perfect way to start the day....thank you!
I like that purple color.....
I'll never understand how you can know the color by seeing it like this. :( Very beautiful, Lindsay! I wish you would do a video on the Jane Davenport and Prima watercolor tins and tell what colors they are, some are named fun names but most are not. I love how you grabbed a purple sweater, too.
🌟THIS WAS EXCELLENT 🌟
Wow and absolutely enjoyed the process of it ❤️❤️ TFS

So beautiful but alot of work. Really they are beautiful and thank you. I will have to experiment now
Wow! I learned to much with the process of these techniques. I would've given up, but you showed me that sometimes a HOT MESS can be saved. Thank you for the video
it can usually be saved and if not, well, you've got nothing to lose:) It's just a piece of paper!
Yeah for purple. Love my peg stamps. Thanks for coupon code 🐿
Love this year's color! Get your purple on :)
Thanks, can't wait to see what you make with this color!

I so enjoyed this, Lindsay. Mixed media is so fun!

Beautiful! I'm ready to get messy and give these a try!

LOVE THESE!! And you've inspired me to get out my gelli plate!!! :)) Thanks
Thanks I have that paper thanks for sharing all your ideas.
Absolutely beautiful ❤
Thanks!
thanks so much!
Gorgeous.
Love, love this color!
it's growing on me too!
My FAVORITE COLOR!!!!
Beautiful Cards! Love the color!
I'm always happy when people get it right, I'm so easily pleased LOL :D Also imho, the yellow complimentary contrast works best with purples which have more blue than red.
love how these all turned out , although i have to admit I cringed a few times ! lol I've never heard of a jelly plate, I'm looking it up now
My fave color range periwinkle on
Love, love these cards - inspired to try them
thanks!
I love when you do these type of videos!! Yay!
thanks!
Oh, now I have a first project for the Spellbinders Prizm I just got the other day!!!
perfect!
I'm not a purple fan BUT.... These are gorgeous!!! I have a lot of purple lovers who watch my channel so I'm going to make sure I use the ultra violet more!! Thanks for sharing this!!!! 💜🖤💜🖤👑
you're welcome:)
Even though violet is not my fav color, I admit that these cards are beautiful and classy. I might give violet a try in my paintings, I might be surprised ;) Thanks for the video :)
I really enjoyed this. Thank you.
it is such a lovely color for twighlight and shadows or for lavender backgrounds. I did the twilight with glimmer mist and i loved it
ps this card is so not for me... cas girl here, rofl, i love watching you make it though
why not? You don't want to take 2 days and dye your hands purple to make a card? I don't understand LOL:)😋
lol, i get nuts when my hands have ink all over, really bad i know, hahaha
Purple is my favorite color yaaa
awesome! You will be seeing a lot of purple in store this year so if you have need for any housewares or accessories keep an eye out. Purple is a hard to find color, I just saw a kitchenaid mixer come out it purple and it looked really chic!
Eva Villa me too
Pretty cards.
I love how card panels turned out, Lindsay! So many fun layers that are just rich and elegant looking as card panels! TFS!
thanks!
Expertly rescued! I always look at the tools or mediums you have used in your videos. I don't have a Geli plate but on looking at the price..I think I can be creative with my backgrounds and live without one. Might invest in a roller to move mediums around...I have already broke my New Year resolution with regards to spending!
you can make one from gelatin or get a sheet of rubber gasket material from the plumbing section the hardware store too.
very nice cards
Purple
Dear Lindsay totally love your creative juices and how you used the color which is my fav!! Please can you help me out? Where do you get such fine stencils? brambly rose is my all time fave and I also like dogwood forest:) Those are probably my most used sets.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich ok...those were two I put in my cart along with 40 more lol! I will start with those...thank you!!! :)
You are awesome...!
Very pretty :)
Very nice!

hey, no worries, everything in moderation, including moderation:)
This is my favorite cards you've made and I'm not a fan of purple. They are eye catching. I have a question please, what is seem binding and why do you use it in place of ribbon? I loved this video
it is a thin inexpensive rayon ribbon, it takes dye well and had a lovely crinkly texture if you wet and scrunch it.
Would the Prima Watersoluable Oil Pastels work the same as Gelatos? I would also love to know the stencil name and brand used for the inside of the card. I love it. Thanks for this fun tutorial.
specimen by crafters workshop:)
All I can think of is Marie off Breaking Bad.
oh yeah, she wore purple a lot!
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich all she wore was purple & everything in her house was purple.
It comes in unscented. I still use it on my hair. I have asthma so I hold my breath, spray, and leave the room and it doesn't bother me. Good luck!
I love purple too. I have painted my bedroom light purple before also. Right now my curtains are eggplant colored in my bedroom. ( and my accents on my bed and walls)

pearl ex would have been good! Next time:)
Great video❤️❤️
Yes too messy this time but beautiful at the nd 😍
Love this video but couldn't understand the name of the paper. what do you use.
Bristol it is a heavy smooth paper that takes wet media well, cardstock is fine too:)
My fav color....great video
thanks!
Love your flower and leaf stamps. Where did you buy them from?
Rubber Stamp Tapestry, they are our sponsor, 20% off coupon and links to products in description:)
Embossing/die cutting machines.....I am very tempted BUT keep putting the urge to purchase one...I do have embossing folders and at the moment I wet watercolour paper and place in folder and press down to get the impression and then I look at projects that involve die cutting!
I just have a question, can I sell items I made from watching your videos
yes!
I have oil pastels...which are a lot cheaper than Gelatos? I do apologise for all my comments BUT I am becoming a frugalcrafter under your influence Lindsay.
you can use those:) water won't blend them though and they will resist any waterbased paint or ink so use them as a final layer:)
Thank you for your advice.
What set do you recommend for someone who want to upgrade from a 24 color koi set?
I loved the mijello pure pigment set, and it's really hard to find most of the watercolors brands where I live and they are really expensive ( the set with 12 Cotman colors is 150 reais what is around 42 dollars) so I would like to buy a really good watercolor when I travel to U.S ( sorry for the bad english)
Do you have the Mission gold set already? It is hard to beat that value. If you have that set maybe choose a few colors you don't have. The Qor sets are a good value especially if you can order from websites like Blick, jerry's artarama, amazon or merriartist.

No but I'm intending to buy, to you think it's a great option?
How did you clean your hands?
haha, the stains came off when I washed dishes. remember "Madge, I soaked in it!" commercials?
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I remember Madge, but you are too young to know her! Lol
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I was hoping you were going to say something else.
Yeah, I usually just do some dishes and that takes care of the stains too. ;-)
