I am using Etchcut machines from past 19 years, I can say that this machine cannot give that much of precision, First the photo ink that you use should not be transparent, so that you can easily find pinholes, machine oscillation is not with accurate speed and angle, thirdly with this machine I am sure you cannot go deep, We use Nano Crafter technology from Etchcut is far more advanced and serving us well, if anyone need any technical help for making pad printing plates, you can ask me.

You don't put in oven after air off the plate goes to uv and finishes in oven?

if you used photosensitive ink then why did you use photosensitive laminate too (see sec 2:37)?

What's the difference between chemical etching? Why can't you simply print negative and etch the positive and fill ink

Shouldn't the operator be using gloves to protect the plate from fingerprints etc.?

You probably now know what happens but I'll try to explain for others. At first step, they coat the metal plate with a photosensitive solution to create a photosensitive layer on it, we'll come back to that in a second. After the coating, they apply a heat treatment, this helps to fix the coating onto the metal. What photosensitive means that when you expose that layer to uv light, the light will interact with the layer and create a dent on it. The process is called photolithography, a very important technique which is even used in the making of the processors of your computer. So, if you only expose a specific shape to uv light on that photosensitive layer, you'll end up with that shape printed on that layer. In this case the black parts on the paper allow uv light to go through and create dents on the photosensitive layer while the rest of the paper doesn't allow the penetration of the light, so the rest of the layer stays still. After that, they wash the piece to get rid of unwanted pieces and contaminants that may have resided from photolithography process. Then, they etch the metal plate so that the shape dented on the layer would be dented on the metal plate itself. Since the layer is already dented the etching agent acts more on there and reaches the metal plate and start denting it. After that, they wash off the remaining photosenstive layer as it completed its task. And at last, they check if the dents on the metal plate has enough depth.

Use Etchcut coating, these are made in India, much better in terms of resistance and exposing quality, you can easily find them on google " Etchcut International"

Hello I enjoyed the video, I thought I had some old tech.. I'm using a newer uvac 600 but am worried my design etches aren't deep enough. Maybe longer times? Or the chemicals during wash process? Any advice helps. It could be in the print end but having so many problems I'm going back to the start.
