- The Warhammer Preview Online NOVA Open 2024 stream happened last night, and I stayed up to watch along. It was definitely one of Preview streams of all time, but at least we got new Bird Horses out of it.

The Morrgryph from Iridan the Witness model is the executioner of the Stormcast Eternal. This kit they did a very good job on it, including the defalt Lord Vigilant on steed.
The Preview was good for Age of Sigmar, it was a bit of disaapointment to not see the Warhammer 40,000 and Horus Heresy range. Their's going to be good models to see soon.
The new Aledari, Astra Militarum and Imperial Knights Preview I'm looking forward to seeing soon.

Once again the AoS miniature designers have out done their 40K counterparts.
Maybe the portal would look better if the blue rings weren't all the same shade of blue. They should get either darker or lighter as they get larger.
I have to disagree with you on the portal, I think it looks fantastic actually, properly mystical and holy.

Prepare to get your shit replaced real fast, going from a mediocre priced army to an expensive one due to the constant updating.
As far as I'm aware you can still use the old models though, right? Also the models that are being updated aren't exactly fresh - the Lord Celestant is coming up to a decade old, right? I'd say that's actually a pretty healthy refresh rate

I caught some of it on here, and went over to Valrak's to have a chuckle.. honestly their presentation... I've had more fun having root canal treatment without anaesthetic. It was a whole new low in their videos.
Call me a heretic, but I think I’m starting to prefer the Stormcasts to the space marines.
I think it’s a mixture of realizing that they’re literally Sigmar’s Einherjar and the fact that they’re actually the underdogs GW for some reason thinks the Imperium is both in and out of setting. Heck, even the death masks are beginning to grow on me.

Lord relictor is such a great conversion baiting exercise on GWs part.
The design of every part of it says “can be used in almost every imperium faction with a few head/weapon swaps”.
10 points for the griffins, 8 points for the paint job, in gray metal 1 point for the riders.
0 points for everything else, except the green one, 10 out of 10 for him.
I cannot unsee that the birds have ears.
Also, skeleton boy is clearly getting converted to a SM Chaplain by loads of people. All it needs is a pistol.

The griffin look of classic fantasy often has those. Not always. They could have gone either way

It feels like they took a lot of the stuff from WHFB High Elves and...gave it to the Stormcast. Lots of wizards, riding dragons/gryphons, things like that.

The bird-horses are absolute quality! Iridan looks fantastic, and the Lord-Relictor is prime Chaplain conversion fodder, particularly Interrogator-Chaplain fodder with the hooded skull. Really good reveals for AoS. The other games just seemed to exist in the background.
The paladors are worse. The oldcast ones have faces and the sculpts show actual weight and movement. And besides the new centerpiece, the rest are resculpts only. And this is hard to say. I have over 20,000 points of stormcast. Almost the full range. A real pity.
Yea, the portal is just not badass enough for stormcasts to be coming out of.

It's interesting that Iridan is referred to as they, The model clearly shows female stormcast armour in the reveal however there is artwork depicting the character in male stormcast armour. I wonder if GW are going to introduce this as a build option in the kit.
Maybe the spikes are there to stop the pidgins landing on it.
Alternate head option for Relictor for you: regular helmet, painted black, paint white skull over the face portion.

I like the griffin minis but that's about it, I think the hooded guy character on one is kinda close to being something I like, but still not there.
I just don't like the Storrmcast weapons, armour or heads sadly.
I like the new stormcast models but not as stormcast. I prefer hammers on my stormcast. Think they fit better as chaos models for me with a bit of conversion. The new skaven are calling to me a lot more.

I like the fact that thats one of the first actual griffins in the stormcast line, they just give it more bird features to be trademark-able

Whoever is in the launch box gets a following expansion. We all knew it was coming.
The idea so far seems to be is that they trimmed off the unnecessary hero models altogether while redoing all the Elderplate models in Thunderstrike armor.

uhh just to say my opinion.... I literally could not tell what was "New" on the Stormcast reveal except the Harry Potter gryphon thing. Like... I assume it was all new. But Palladors came like... less than 10 years ago. They looked.... quite good actually. This isn't Primaris situation where it was useful to scale up the models debateably. Like... I'm not excited. If anything I'm more confused.

At best 7/10 and compared to the skaven a solid 5/10. Regular stormcast nothing crazy.

The Stormcasts, are iconic. Iconic as a failure of faction supposed to represent and carry the System of AoS.
Overall the showcase was quite anemic.
