Wonderful tutorial as always, Kim - you are the most soothing instructor I've ever seen! This is such a lovely lace stitch; I'm definitely going to try it out. I've only tried double-ended Tunisian crochet once, for making stripes, but I hadn't realized how versatile it was. Thank you in particular for showing how to close part of a long row - that is a life-changing technique! I have a set of Denise interchangeable crochet hooks that have two hooks of each size that can be connected with a cable to make any length of double-ended crochet hook. But at some point when working on a very large piece like an afghan, the work can get too heavy and awkward to manage with the weight of all that yarn on the hook / cable at the same time. Now I can finally work on that afghan I've been wanting to make for years! I'll also have to try playing with regular Tunisian crochet stitches using a double-ended hook, to see how they behave together. Mucking about with sticks and strings is always time well-spent! Thank you, Kim! 😊💕
I really enjoy using the double ended hook. Like the way this pattern was presented, calm not in a rush as some crochet instructions are presented. This Lady enjoys what she is doing as I do. Some people are in such a rush and I have to wonder if they enjoy what they are doing.
Kim, I love your Tunisian patterns. Double ended Tunisian crochet afghans are my favorite because you can do reversible afghans so easily! Or if you want a solid color you just use 2 skeins of the same color to give the same texture as when using 2 different colors. I had a double ended cable Tunisian crochet hook, but the cable broke off of one end, and I've been using the technique you showed on here for several years now. I actually prefer a straight hook over a cable hook.
You can use any double-ended hooks you like from 6" to 60". It doesn't matter at all with double-ended Tunisian. With regular Tunisian, your work is limited by the size of the hook. There are no limitations like that with double-ended.
This is a double-ended hook project. You aren't limited by the length of hook the way you are with regular Tunisian. You can use any size hook you want. Even an afghan to fit a King size bed can be made with a 6-inch hook.
The hook in the video was purchased from a website in the UK. They don't sell this particular hook in the United States. Check the description above for a link to the website where I purchased it. I really love the purple hooks in this line. :-)
All of the extra information you need like materials, hook size, starting number and binding off are all available in the pattern which is located in the video description.

I've had one of those hooks for about 20 years, and never knew what to do with it! I can't wait to try this!!!
