If you’re using the included charcoal filters, soak them in cold water for 15 minutes. Remove the water filter holders from the single serve side and the 12 cup side. Put the filter into the holder and snap to close. Run this under water for 10 seconds and drain. Slide the filter holders back. It is recommended to change the filter every 60 days or after 60 uses. I’m using filtered water so I won’t be using these filters.
When you first get the unit, run a one time cleaning. Put the filter in if you're using it. Fill the water reservoir. Plug it in. Lift up and close the brew head. Don’t put a pod in here, we just want water. Put a mug on the drip tray, press the pod button and choose 10 oz. Press the brew button and discard the water. For the 12 cup side, fill the water reservoir. Put the carafe on the plate. Turn the knob to brew and press the brew button. When brewing is finished, discard the water. Now we can make coffee.
To brew on the 12 cup side, put the permanent filter into the basket or you can use a #4 paper filter. 1 tablespoon which is a level scoop of ground coffee per cup. Even if you like really strong coffee, don’t put more than 15 tablespoons of coffee in the filter, it might overflow. Don’t use very finely ground coffee, a medium fine grind is best. I’ll brew 6 cups so I’m using 6 scoops of ground coffee. Turn the knob to brew. You can press the bold button if you want. Press carafe and then brew/off. You can remove the carafe while it’s brewing to pour a cup of coffee. Make sure to put it back within 30 seconds though or it could overflow. The coffee will stop flowing. You’ll hear five beeps when brewing is finished.
To brew on the single serve side, add water to the reservoir. Put a mug on the tray, lift up the brew head, there is a sharp needle on top and one on the bottom so don’t put your fingers in here. put a coffee pod in, press it down, close the brew head. press the pod button, press it again to choose the brew size. I’ll choose 8 oz. Earlier, I brewed 8 oz of the same coffee in a Keurig so I want to compare the taste. Press the brew/off button.
To use the reusable capsule, fill the filter basket with ground coffee, there is a max fill line which holds up to 15 grams or 2.5 scoops.
Lift the brew head and remove the pod holder, pull it toward you, put the reusable cup in. Close the head, press pod, pod again to choose 8oz, press brew.

Great detailed video.I have always been purchasing the 14 cup Cuisinart coffee makers. In my own opinion they are the best. Question, maybe I missed it, does this one give you the option to leave the Cafe on for 4 hours?
Hi! We recently bought one of these and we were so excited about getting it. It seems almost every time we use it we have problems with exploding k cups and it either makes a mess in the machine or makes a mess in the cup. We've used off brand and Keurig brand. Has anyone ever had any problems with this and does anyone have any idea how to correct it?
Am I doing something wrong? I've followed the steps but my pod button doesn't seem to do anything.

@natalial6536 nope. I've tried everything except taking it apart. I was going to see if I could look inside but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that without destroying it.

Hello 👋🏼 question plz? I was just wondering if u said to keep the palate warm for a longer time period. Right when it’s done being on brew & the coffee is ready, that’s when u put it on auto off. To keep it warmer for about 4 hrs? Thanks :)

I think i had the older version of this, and it lasted maybe a year and a half until it died hard. It seems like Cuisinart is a shadow of what it used to be.
I am using a Hamilton Beach that has a carafe & single cup maker. It's okay for now

Great review… not sure if i missed it, but on my older 2 in 1… if I brewed a pot, then made a single cup a few minutes later, the carafe burner would shut off. I hope this one flaw may have been fixed. Anyone know??

Your video is very easy to understand and thro, however I still can't seem to make a cup of coffee! After looking at 2 different videos I'll go and try to make a single cup of coffee - I have plugged my machine in and unplugged it - opened the pod area and pushed the little button in the back 7 times (as seen on another video) still unable to use - it won't lite up.

This on the Model SS16> If you are having problems with Pod button> I like the coffee maker. Pod option initially did not work, called customer service, let me wait, but they were able to tell me what to do. Seems the pod button inside the machine had not been set at the factory.
@StarOne311 I just bought the SS16 today and am having the same issue with the Pod button. Can you elaborate on how you fixed the issue inside the machine?
Never mind. I read further down and found the black button trick. Once it began flashing and turned solid, I was in business! WHEW!

@@emmanuelsanchez5668 >. In case anyone else has this issue with the POD light not turning on before initial use, follow these steps:
1. Unplug coffee maker and wait 5 minutes to "reset" the machine.
2. Plug back in
3. Lift single serving lid, behind the two white arrows of pod alignment there is a little rubber button, like a dome shape. Push this 7 times. POD light should be blinking
4. The POD light should now be "connected" and will work as intended. Hope this helps.

Excuseme. Where is the tone option? To turn bipping sound on and off?
You can't turn the beeping sound off. It's a machine, and the beeping sound lets you know the coffee is ready. Also, we've had several Cuisinart coffeemakers over the years, and each one had a different beeping sound from the other. No two coffeemakers beeped the same. There is no "standard, set" beeping sound for all their coffeemakers. If you don't like the beeping sound on this particular coffeemaker, there is nothing you can do about it.
This thing does not have a hot warm or low light , I cant keep the coffee hot , its very annoying 😢.
Cuisinart is just a ok brand
Took mine back and got a ninja....the whole point was to make ice coffee for my wife....the pod button would not work.
