This was the best I could find , I have a L-3130 and both seals have gone out with in just a few hours of each other . Thanks I get a rough idea of what I need to do with mine .
When you fill the front axle take the bolt out that is on top of the housing above where the tie rod end goes in. There is one on each side. This is an air bleed bolt and will allow you to fill the axle right away instead of toping it off several times. Good video, thanks for posting it.

That is exactly how we pull those seals, chisel, hammer and be bang the sides in and pull it out. Very simple and quick.

Did you use RTV when you put the outer cover with the six bolts back on? Very informative, gave me some confidence to do my own. Thanks
I am presently undergoing the same task and found this to be most helpful. I have the same pulley puller that you showed briefly. No luck prying out the seal with a screwdriver so I resorted to the puller which worked perfectly. I tried 3 different snap ring pliers sets to find one that would open the ring wide enough.
As you mentioned the Kubota dealer suggested switching to gear oil, which will reduce the possibility of seal seeping. He thought the BX is shipped with UDT.
There’s a bolt on top of the hub to displace the air when filling with gear oil:) nice job!

I need to change my seals on my BX 23 in the same place. Mine looks pretty similar but it looks like mine has a nut of some sort on the top of the axle just above the round part where the seal would need replaced. What BX do you have? My guess is that it is a bit newer than mine and thanks for the video!
You made that look so easy. I can not get mine up the last 1/4" to get the snap ring back on. I did find it easier to use a pair of channel locks to remove the top part of the old seal vs heating it with a torch. Thanks for sharing

Just re-watched this video preparing to do the same job on my Mahindra! There are no videos relatively speaking on repairs for Mahindra tractors but the assembly is the same or very close to what you have on your Kabota. How did your back turn out? Is it back to 100%? Hi, I had a seal, which needed changing ... I believe, it was on my M/F final drive. I found the seal to be shipped with a metal insert, as you have pictured. It wouldn't fit over the mating shaft, which I couldn't figure out ... thinking, I got the wrong part.
As it turned out, that metal collar seemed to be only for "shipping". I removed it and everything went together and works fine. I've never seen an "installed seal" with such a metal insert. ??
Or it might be provided to assist in driving the new seal into position. Afterward, removing, before final assembly.
Post script: I found another Kubota video, which showed the collar (Speedy Seal). So it does appear, that the metal portion of the seal is used on "some, seal installations" "Live and Learn"!
The upper steel piece id used so that the seal surface is replaced with the lower seal so that the seal surface never wears out. Very ingenious of Kubota.
is the front hub lubed from the front axle or is it a separate unit ?

For less than $10 you can go to Harbor freight and buy a seal puller. It’s not a puller that looks like the one you were trying to use. This is a long arm with a sharp point on the end of it. That’s what it’s for. good luck. You’ll have it the next time you need it.
Looks like you could use a length of 1 1/2" pvc pipe to drive it on.
PVC ya hadn't thought of that good idea. I will never remember all this stuff.
I was told by a kubota mechanic to put the the metal piece in the seal and slide every up the shaft together or. It will leak again

Again, a 2 inch piece of PVC about 4 inches long would work perfectly. Good luck.
Okay, good work. Personally I would have taken the axle off so i could do the whole thing on the bench. Then you can clean and lube the pivot pin while your at it. I hate working on my knees.
I have 500 hrs on my BX. The seals are weeping ever so slightly but not enough to worry about yet. I don’t think, all things being equal, that you can hope to have a perfect seal. Once those axles get hot from a few hours work, your going to get expansion. But i do keep a very close eye on them for sure and check the oil level every time I run it. The big one you need to watch out for is leaks around the Hydraulic pipes on top of the valve body. Its hidden behind that screen so you may not notice it.
Man, when those O rings go it gets messy. Do your self a favour. Throw out the metal lines and put in rubber hoses. Those banjos suck. The one to watch out for is the pressure line to the main FEL lift line. Its the back pressure that kills the seal. I replaced the old O rings on the other lines with VITON. The kubota ones are crap. They only lasted three weeks !
Trial n' Error. When I do my next oil change I will use gear oil too. I think thats much smarter than UHT. That stuff is like water. Anyway, really enjoyed the Vid, very instructive to know what I will see when I have to change my seals. I am working my BX pretty hard. Must have moved over 500 tons of dirt/gravel/sand with it by now. I have tightened up the pivot pin once already. I dont think it was tightened properly out of the shop when new to be honest. Cheers !
Trial n' Error. There are some weak areas in the BX but so far the engine and drive train seem to be holding up well. I am building a house with mine and its saved me huge amounts of money on time and labour. I am curious to see if it will reach the end of the project without a major failure. if it does i will buy a much bigger tractor. Cant imagine life without one. I did re gap engine valves recently. Couple of them were tight, one was quite loose and the others very slightly out. 500 + hrs on the machine now. Engine runs like a top. i find it best to run between 2600 and max Rpm most of the time. I dont think you can hurt the engine really unless you neglect the oil/filter changes. Its a very clean burning engine. Puffs black smoke when you start it but after that it never smokes even under load. They make a good diesel, Kubota.
veritcal axle lifts out with a bit of effort and then a standard seal puller does the job it will just pop

Mine doesn't seem to be leaking where everyone elses is. Looks like its from the actual pivot adjusting nut. On this pivot point front and back. Any ideas?

LOL. I use to store my motorcycle in my first apartment all winter. Drove it down the hallway to get it in there and it sat in my dining room.

Use a bearing seal tool. They are $20 at any parts store.
