Fantastic documentary. When that man talked about yhr Cypress Cathedral i feel exactly like this. I can completely relate. I live next to Okefenokee, the largest swamp wildlife refuge of Southeastern Georgia, similar in some ways, except instead of crystal clear water its pitch black and mirror like. I totally want to visit big cypress and everglades one day. What a history, an incredible story of conservation.
Sounds like him to me! The narrator is most likely Peter Thomas. He lived close by in Naples too! I kept waiting to hear when they came across a crime scene...lol
I was just here and hiked a little bit of it (a little over 5 miles) the other day and it was possibly the prettiest hike I've done so far. I have to see as much of it as I can
Beautiful big cats and kittens: called either panther, cougar, puma in Florida, and mountain lion in the high country or other areas of Americas. A few are still being hit and killed by cars in Florida.
Amazing place, I have always thought that I could see God's creation in full swing at this place, God has bless me with the ability to se Him right there every time i go.
I went hiking there recently and came across a jeep club who were about 30 jeeps deep. They were tearing up the place, drinking, littering and shooting off guns. What a disgrace.
This history triggers me that conscious awareness of the loggers was less than p ant. 500-600 yr+ Cyprus should have and could have been sustainably preserved. SMH forever even to this present day....
+Mike Younis there is high ground at different places that form islands. The "gladesmen" that live there today have built settlements on them. Also, the Calusa built shell mounds out of discarded food waste like oyster shells and animal bones that eventually became full fledged islands. See: Mound Key.
Most don’t appreciate it. I definitely do. South Florida is a magical place.
I spend lots of time in the big cypress. Absolutely amazing the diversity of wildlife.
Visiting in a few weeks. Watched this as part of my preparation. Now I'm even more excited!
I love the Clyde Butcher photo studio.
A beautifully made documentary about an astonishing place.
I own 45 acres. We once saw a Florida panther out there. It was actually very calm and just watched us go by. Super sweet.

Yes, this is the 2nd video I heard him talking about old Florida. Good stuff.

If there families were sad imagine how the Indians felt ..🤔 wow what a wonderful world .

What was the name of the Club?
Do you have any pictures?
Only 100? they were down to 20 at one point, respect has to be shown to those who have helped ensure the everglades stay heathy
A poison snake will keep me away every time! 🐾
If money's to be made, natural beauty is in dire straights..💔🥺🤑

The native American's that lived here for many generations before us were hunters and fishermen. There's a way to do it and a way not to.
+logikman1080 how did they live in the swamps when there was no land, and it was all just water and trees???

Aw well thanks for sharing :) Jesus loves you!
+Mike Younis Yes, He loves us all and died for us.
logikman1080 glad to see that you believe in Jesus, there are many God-haters out there.
Jesus created this place for you! :)

big swamp buggies ? no problem ! ATV's? controversial!!!
The buggies are used mostly for transportation within, and the ATV's are there recreationally, and generally aren't concerned about preservation.
Seems what I saw lots of joy riding.. swamp buggies
