J Robbins opened for Girls Against Boys, here's my video of their set: • 2022-10.15 Girls Again...
This is a recording of J Robbins with full band, featuring Brooks Harlan, Gordon Withers and Darren Zentek.
I shot with MoviePro because the workaround provided by the FilmicPro creators only works when the app is connected to the Internet. I always switch on Airplane mode in order to shut off any push notifications that would interrupt my filming.
And for background on technical issues with apps and my Shure mic, the iOS 16 update screwed up the integration of external mics to filmmaking apps and MoviePro was one of the very few unaffected by it. I bought it and have used it since. Online forums are saying a fix should be in when v16.1 is released which will render both Filmic Pro and BeastCam usable.
This video was shot from a wide-angle perspective. I wanted to go ultra-wide but there was a photographer beside me and the left side of my shot would be entirely of him so I opted for my normal shot.
I don't know if it was him or not, but I overheard a woman call him, "Jim," so the person in the video could potentially be Jim Saah, D.C. scene photojournalist. If so, I thought it was cool because I told him if I was in his shot to tap me and I'd move down a bit. He even asked if I was in his way to which I silently mouthed, "You're fine," while recording. Who knows...

Speaking of D.C. scene photojournalists, I met Chris Grady in line while waiting for entry. We were the first two at the venue and chatted until the doors opened. His current work will be featured in the new Hammered Hulls (Alec MacKaye and Mary Timony) record so I'm looking forward to checking it out.
J Robbins was much closer to me than expected so I did what I could because I was limited by the space between the stage and people around me. I'm glad sound turned out great because I didn't have to do much afterwards. Oh, and I made sure to get shots of Brooks and Gordon every now and then so I wouldn't focus on J too much. As for Darren, you can see him flailing away behind the kit but it was best I could get considering the circumstances.
Holy crap! I've been waiting for a chance to see this genius live in my town but this is the next best thing. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Great sound quality and filming-thanks for sharing! J was the last show I saw before pandemic/lockdown with Pete on drums, but it is awesome to see Darren on drums here.
