I raised and showed Arabians and Appaloosas for over 40 years...but have always loved draft horses since I rode on the backs of the ones my Grandfather had to hanging on to the hames as he worked them...but his were lighter draft crosses than the ones you have
Thankyou Jim for showing your horses lying down in their tie stalls plus drinking water at the water trough .You have a great set up for your horses .😊😊😊
Just wanted to let you know that I totally enjoy watching your channel. Have had horses all my life and the last nine years we've had fainting goats that we've crossed with meat goats. Haven't been able to watch you since before Thanksgiving the 27th Wednesday evening I pulled my pies out of the oven and walked over to the kitchen sink and looked out the window and our 170 year old barn was on fire. long story short, we lost everything it burnt so fast that by the time and noticed it the fire had already reached the doors and they were so hot you couldn't touch them. My son went back to our main door and determined to get at least one animal out. And rolled the door open with his hand up his coat sleeve & reached in blind and grabbed a rolling door of the closest stall and opened it and stepped back into the opening to get out of the barn holding his breath the whole time and the force of heat and wind that came down the hallway knocked him backwards out of the barn . He closed the Barn Door and after 25 minutes from the 911 call the first fire truck finally showed up by then our backhoe had exploded & the fire was racing across the Barnyard in to the electric poles and rite up them to the wires & my son grabbed our truck and got our horse trailer out and open the chicken coop which was right up by the barn and already flaming on the back side and through all 30 of our chickens out and they have survived they are now living in our horse trailer three days later. Burning Barn has always been my biggest fear I wouldn't wish this on no one. there was no chance of us getting any animals out the fire apparently got raging quite well before it came outside where we could see it. I don't know if I'll ever be able to have animals again don't know if I will even rebuild but I've had horses four 50 years. The story to This Barn was amazing it was here before cars in the Conestoga wagons came through & watered their horses here and board them overnight. the barn was 99 ft long 45 ft tall 35 ft wide and the upstairs floor was the most beautiful hardwood you ever seen in your life and they had a stage and 140 years ago they used to have Barn dances up in the mow. Play Old Barn had such a history and everybody around had been in it one time or another. So it definitely made memories in a lot of people's lives
I love these farm life vlogs. Don't get me wrong I'm here to see you guys working horses but I'm a city slicker, that spent my summers on a farm growing up but I'm so grateful for these snippets of what more goes on , on a farm. I love seeing Jim, brenda and skip on all their adventures no matter if there's horses involved or not
Again another great video Jim and Brenda! Jim I'm so glad you are able to get the equipment you need to make doing some of the chores easier. I loved seeing those horses take off running that must feel good to them after being in a stall all night. Even with modern day equipment you still have to do a lot of very physical labor on a farm.
Very nice trailer! Love seeing the horses gallop away!! ❤️ Skippy was really a good choice for a dog (as far as i see!!). I remember people voicing different concerns when you first got him...but, he seems pretty good overall!! Oh! Earl took that 'sink step' in stride! Glad he's ok! Ho!! They just decided to go off on their own!!! Those feeders are so nice! Aww...Bree & June. 💕 Your sawmill is so great! You make beautiful lumber. Lots of content in this video! Loved it!! 💕
Congratulations on the new trailer, guys! Brenda, you are incredibly skilled at the camera work. You make things interesting w/o us even knowing what you're doing! 👍👍
If you got some extra old water hose, you can thread the electric fence wire thru it and make your way to the top and over and thru to the other side. Just to keep them from accidental shock from happening. Love the dump trailer and what you are planning on doing with it for the business and Brenda, I am sure she is loving her bike!
Hey Jim , a great plan to straddle the 2 turnout pens with hay feeders, it makes it easier to feed all 8 horses. Congrats on your purchase of your new trailer. It looks quite handy for lot of jobs . From firewood to lumber ,to gravel and fill materials also to equipment and horse cart hauler. It should last a long time and the best part the trailer was built in Canada. A great birthday present for Jim Gordon.
It`s on my list as well . Tandem wheel , heavy dump trailers are one of the most useful things ever invented . It will pay for itself over and over again . Smart investment Jim .
The trailer will come in handy clearing those rocks out of the barn yard, I always worry about the horses breaking leges on them rocks. great videos hope you all had a good thanksgiving,
Always love spending time with you and Brenda makes my day better❤ love love love the horses so much….that trailer looks amazing your going to get many years out of that one will make your life much easier to!! I just love you two so much you’re just both amazing people…..
Great video The boys did great And yes the wind does play havoc with them for sure Very good idea to move from the front Have a great and safe weekend God bless
Love how well your horses are trained....and the easy gentle way you handle them....understanding that they are flesh...bone and blood just like us and have feelings and personalities too...and are not my machines
@stevepage4948- My sentiments exactly! My horses had wonderful personalities and great heart. They were riding horses and my best friends. Jim is amazing in how well he trains his animals and his patience and respect. I used to go swimming with mine and played tag out in the field. I always lost!
Great trailer, be lots of uses for it. I see the horses are wintering up, looking decidedly woolly. Here tomorrow is the first day of summer, but its cool with lots of rain. Thanks, Jim & Brenda, these vids are like living the life. Greetings from Australia.
I think you should paint working horses with Jim on one side board and a drill and a dream on the other provided you get sponsorship of course haha great looking trailer
.............G'day Jim, your trailer metal was "HOT DIPPED" in molten Zinc-Tin alloy, and withdrawn slowly to leave a generous coating on the steel after any welding, and usually before assembly. This process is called "galvanizing". Cheers and God bless, Malcolm.
PG here. Thank you for a very full video. I apologize if I hurt Brends feelings about the bike. I have to qualify my statements. I am glad that Brenda has the bike. Especially because she had a hurt leg. We wouldn't want that to happen again. It took my breath away watching Earl step knee deep in mud. Very scary. But he handled it like a fully grown, experienced horse. No problem. Earl was acting like he knew he was on camera, telling himself, "Act natural; it is no big deal." Watching Jim gallop away with Bill and Duke was very exciting! I loved it. Now Jim has his new trailer, which he can clean things up with. Welcome to modern day! The Lord gave me a vision of my dad driving horses using a buck wagon. So, I have to go back to heal the devastating consequences to my family due to modern age, or days of cars. Industries that took farming away from our family. Men and women were forced into the automobile industry. Men in my family died at young ages.
It's another great video and a very cool dump trailer, and I always wonder how does the excavator comes back to the farm. The cattle trailer gotta gotta be a tight fix. That 's what I imagine. No goose neck flat bed.
Your new trailer looks as if its been a very good investment sir, I'm sure you will get much use out of it and that it will help make your working day much easier.😊
🤔Great idea/ addition new trailer, clean up chores modifications accomplished during nice weather conditions etc, hey the more I follow WHJ really enjoying , Jim / Brenda 👍👋
What a neat trailer! I'm not particulary into horses but I greatly appreciate the overviews of all dimensions of a Christian farm family-male and female (AND Skippy).
Nice trailer Jim! Wow, my dream trailer and with a dump! Holly smokes. The 3 axle and double duel axles are what I am used to seeing but this sweet. Let us know how it trails or pulls. Do you have a load leveling hitch? Or possibly to upgrade, I have heard some good things about the leveling bars. Give yourself a chance to get used to those new pull dynamics, the 5th wheel goose neck is less likely to push your tail in the wind on ice (or curve/downhill). Take er easy, I know you will and tire pressure is key! Preaching to the choir, I know you have alot of successful pulling experience. Horses look good. Boy that dirt directly above the tile a sink hole! I need to Go see Abby's videos, looks like your close to having Christmas ⛄ 🌲 at Abby's new house!, so close. Hopefully you get some downtime b4 the winter logging which is my favorite! Skidding Logs on the snow and hardpack. Nothing like it! Thank you. Happy Holiday Season everyone.
Congratulations on your new Dump Trailer. Not sure how Happy or Satisfied you'll be in the long term. The floor sounded really poppy and thin. The floor isn't even flat new, or before being used. I know about giving hard earned money away. Keep up the Good Work, Good Luck
Hot dip galvanised is the process they use Jim to apply a coating of galvanise to a pre acid dip cleaning and water washed carbon steel surface. It will last a lifetime if the coating is not mechanically damaged. ie. impacted by stone or steel.
Enjoyed the video🙌🏼. Great looking trailer, you got it at a good time with Trump going to put 25% tariffs on Canadian products! Would you use it to haul the hunters in and out? When I drove with my dog, I had a travelling harness that the seatbelt goes through it. They can even lie down with it on. Just a safety precaution to keep them from flying into the windshield if you have to break hard or hit the ditch… you just never know! Loved seeing Bill and Duke galloping through the field, I bet they really enjoyed it letting loose! Now the two youngest boys are getting seasoned, would you consider a 4 horse hitch(2x2) or 6 horse hitch(2x 2x 2). Take care. God Bless😇🤠🇨🇦
I would like to believe that Trump will not put a tariff on Canadian products. They are not the problem like some other countries. You don't really want to poke a finger in your neighbors eye. But he's pretty smart and will realize that.
I tried feeding like that years ago. You might need to build a little piece of wood fence on either side, a few feet or so to stop mischief happening. I was feeding cows and they ended up breaking the wire almost daily. I gave up the attempt. I was using an ordinary tombstone feeder. Nice trailer, They are expensive up here with Canadian money.
Cool, I took have been shopping dump trailers. I've been considering the galvanized trailers. Makes sense if they hold up? I'm definitely getting the telescopic lift cylinder. Can't decide on a 14' or a 16'? I'm curious how you get along with yours?
Nice trailer! Jim, why don’t put put the hay holder you dragged, tip on its side and attach 4 wheels of some sort? Even lawn mower wheels? Seems it would be far better than dragging on the ground which will eventually rot the floor laying in the ground 24/7
Greetings Jim n Brenda..it is my understanding that horses in windy weather get spooky or toey due to the fact of being eaten by loins n tigers ( dogs n man) they arent sure where the sounds n danger may be coming from...so a bit more attention is required on windy days..
Ada Girl Brinda smart move take it easy and Ride in the Feeder I would, Jim has more Tools than I do. I would be doing this with a Dobel Tree and single Trees and driving from inside the Feeder, Have a Wonderfl day
Don't worry, Brenda has a garden. She will get her share of use out of the new trailer. I'm looking forward to hearing Jim's evaluation after 6 months of hard use. The horses are beautiful, as always. Brenda's skills are wonderful. What a beautiful day!
HI JIM & BRENDA.....Love to watch the horses working & following Jim's commands. Brenda, it's amazing how you have learned to give commands. & have the animals respect & follow them (especially "Skippy") in the time since you first retired! There is definitely an ART to "giving orders" in a direct way, not mean, angry or scary, just with authority & consistency so they know what you want. Kids & animals like structure & consistency, and you passed the course with an A+❤!! Thank you both for sharing your life on the farm....lots of hard work, but lots of rewards too! GOD BLESS....😊❤😊❤😊

Thankyou Jim for showing your horses lying down in their tie stalls plus drinking water at the water trough .You have a great set up for your horses .😊😊😊
Great comment "Chips".
That is a really nice trailer Jim. It is going to make your jobs so much easier.
Good looking trailer Jim, you cant go wrong with the hot dipped galvanized finish, should give many years service.

So sorry for the loss of your barn and some animals 😢
Sorry for your loss of the heritage barn . Have you got fire insurance.
Nice new trailer certainly a needed vehicle for daily use. 😊

Nice build on the hay feeder. Got a bit of a laugh when the two decided to walk off, going home I guess. Enjoy the videos.

That water is still standing in the barnyard pretty good!
It`s on my list as well . Tandem wheel , heavy dump trailers are one of the most useful things ever invented . It will pay for itself over and over again . Smart investment Jim .
Many add a solar-charger to the battery box lid if the trailer is not charged enough from the truck.
Love the sound of their hooves on the cement floors. Be well
Amazes me how well you can back your cart with the horses
It's admirable how the horses stand and wait patiently till they are hooked up even when Jim walks away from them.
Great show you got here Brenda & Jim , excellent content .
Skippy reminds me of my Ginger.
Brittany spaniel. She was member of family 12 years of loyal hunting and fishing riding partner. 😊
The trailer will come in handy clearing those rocks out of the barn yard, I always worry about the horses breaking leges on them rocks. great videos hope you all had a good thanksgiving,

Thanks, Jim & Brenda, these vids are like living the life. Greetings from Australia.
Shiniest thing on the farm! :-)
After listening to those cows Im glad my family lived at the other end of the neighbors farm
Nice content, thank you Jim and Brenda. The trailer looks like it will be very useful, Jim already made it better by raising the side height.
I think you should paint working horses with Jim on one side board and a drill and a dream on the other provided you get sponsorship of course haha great looking trailer

What a neat trailer! I'm not particulary into horses but I greatly appreciate the overviews of all dimensions of a Christian farm family-male and female (AND Skippy).
We luv our dump trailer.
I'm really envious of the trailer! Not that I need one now that I'm retired.

Keep up the Good Work, Good Luck
like when you show other things that are farm-oriented too. cows, chickens gardening food stuff family things
Nice trailer Jim
The horses can ride in the new dump trailer also. It would be like riding in a convertible, they could let the wind run through their hair. (Ha!Ha!)
Jim, Skippy is dead serious about his job
I ordered a calendar and I can't wait to see all the new pics!
You got greedy Side on it Already Jim LOL Les England

Jim how pleased are you with drainage in that area that is so wet on the nearing end of video?
nice trailer
I tjought the trailer you bought had netal side rails when you showed it hooked up when you picked it up
Like to see more of you using saw mill
C'mon Jim! They ain't called "hay burners" fer nothin'! (Grin) "D"
Nice Video

China , Mexico and Canada should straighten our bully out fast over tariffs .😊
Lov and Peace from South Alabama.
I would put a "wood"" cover floor in that trailer to protect and support the metal. That is just me wood could help prevent dents in the metal.
I see you and skippy are "bonding" well....
wery good
Hey Jim would you add a link in your store to the coveralls you use.
Theyre hard to fit or fi d decent ones on this side of the country.
Does your hay feeder you towed have a gate so you could load a round bale inside
I am GLAD the you camera person loves to walk. Just a joke. but on the serious side hope you fair well through the snow storm headed your way.
Cool, I took have been shopping dump trailers. I've been considering the galvanized trailers. Makes sense if they hold up? I'm definitely getting the telescopic lift cylinder. Can't decide on a 14' or a 16'? I'm curious how you get along with yours?

If he shared that hay with his brother it would have been good
Earl got screwed inside so he needs a treat Brenda

What breed is your dog Skippy?
❤❤
Would your horses go if you said "giiddyup"?

Be careful not to let your horse or cows get "Bite' by the electric fence at the feeder. They might not come back to it.
Dip it in molten sink
