You know when you're addicted to pain... after a while you don't need to have a reason to feel it. Because reasons fade away but the pain it becomes your friend and it stays.
I think of "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness"...different song. But that feeling. I never knew I was living it. Til I heard it. like that. And like this! So blest! Great thought. Thanks for sharing!
He mentions this song in the search "Been makin' a whole lot of changes wrote a song about that, you should play it" PS I can't wait for I miss the days & Nate
Honestly, I feel like this song and “I miss the days” are his two most self aware/self conscious tracks. I’ve had a lot of late nights listening to this song on repeat. This whole album is filled with 10/10 songs. So excited for y’all to get caught up! Much love 🖤☁️🗝🛒🎈
I love how you guys mirror NF's music to every day life, based on own experience and perception. It's exactly how it feels sometimes. You let the viewer join your conversation. Atleast I feel understood listening to you guys. Intelligent couple. Keep up the good work!
🙏🏾🙏🏽💯 thanks Jeff 🖤 his music has a way of connecting us all on common topics we deal with, and in a way that we would never talk about in everyday life. So special, and really makes ya think about things.
@@BradAndLex So true. I've been listening to his music since mansion came out. I have his cd's ever since. I already understood a lot of his meanings, but you guys bring fresh perception of his music to the table. So that's my kudo's to you two. And I subscribe to almost nobody on here. Maybe you like stuff from rappers like Gremlin and Witt Lowry aswell :)
The key to making change is "talking to God more". Its the very last lyric of the song. Also the answer to your questions about the duality of the human mind, being both bad and good and confusing the two, that answer is found in the Bible. It is the fall of mankind. Now we are all born confused of the reality of our creator and our path in life. Anyways, good reaction! God bless!
I’m glad you pointed this out, I think the connection is easily missed, and to truly understand NF as an artist, or at least the most accurate analysis of his intentions with this song, one must recognize that Nate isn’t pulling himself out of his depression on his own. Rather, he’s reaching out and taking God’s outstretched hand, and that’s what’s making the difference, at least in his life and in mine! Such an inspiring song!
The NF Journey is one of many valleys and very few mountaintops. But the thing about valleys is....more things “grow” there than they do on the mountaintops. Grow in your pain and you’ll see gain. I definitely love y’all’s reaction vids. Stay you! 💪🏻👊🏻
When he says I don't want to hear what I "should or shouldn't do" it's not just from other people it's also from his own thoughts and and his emotions. His own negativity just like in the song leave me alone. Love how he personifies all his emotions and feelings.
I have the same issue... can't ever quite enjoy the happiness you're in because in the back of your mind you're always preparing yourself for the other shoe to drop. I felt this song. It's true change is needed
being addicted to pain is like being addicted to anything else you wanna quit but it feels so good for different reasons like for example self hatred although eventually you dont wanna quit you wanna keep sulking in your own pain and being miserable maybe because you think you deserve it
This is one of my 5 favorites of his. The biggest gripe I hear from people about his music is how sad alot of it is. However his music relates to so many people on different levels. It's just genuinely what he's thinking at the time and it's why I respect and love his music so much. There's no fabrication to it, it's literally a diary of Nathan's life. Btw you guys are one of the few channels that I enjoy. I can tell both of you are just being yourselves. There's no script you just let the camera role and speak. Keep it up. Much love ❤
I'm really enjoying watching these consistent uploads when I do my homework or hop into bed every day! When this album was released, I spent the whole night listening through it. This song was the one out of all 20 of them that I chose to send to my friend who had been radically trying to change his life (I formed a friendship by sending said friend How Could You Leave Us back in the day). He responded that "It's hard when ur stopped so low that giving up is more appealing than trying." We had a long convo after that about life. I'm so proud today that he has quit what he is addicted to, works hard, is ready to transfer to a school that will be good for his mental health, has a stable relationship, and admirable life goals. To me, this song represents the struggle we all have in breaking free of what's comfortable to find true life. I think you all moving to LA (from STL iirc) is just one example of making the change, taking the risk. I didn't have a horrible childhood or anything bad, but by knowing my friend and taking the Journey my outlook on compassion, telling people true feelings, and encouragement changed. It's crazy to know that because of one person's music, so many lives can change, including mine; that's why I root so hard for NF to be able to change his and more.
Been a while since I heard this song, but I just listened to it recently, and I think it might be my favorite. Change, Mansion, and Intro 3 for top three. I feel like it didn't resonate with me before cause I wasn't in the headspace he is so I didn't get it. I get it now. He's in the same place I am. Trying to turn your mind from ideas into action. It's hard enough to change your mind from negative to positive, to convince yourself that these ideas are a good thing that you can achieve it. It's another thing to put it into action. Taking the risk that could lead to being overwhelmed and thrown right back into the negative space. Easier to stay in the familiar pain than risking the unknown and finding some other pain you're not used to. Also, trying to be positive after a lifetime of negativity.. it's like trying to put your brain on a diet. It isn't gonna want what you're feeding it (positivity = greens). Lol Nice reaction. Can't wait for the next one. 😎👍 You guys are for real awesome.
man i have been waitinggggggg for you guys to get to this one! my YT notifications clearly suck. This one right here is the tune that sound-tracked the past year of my life without a doubt my No.1 song on Spotify/ in the top 0.05% of his listeners. He can just get through to people on a level some didn't know existed! i haven't even pressed play yet but am sure its fire
I think the pain he speaks of may be the pain he deals with from losing his mom. In All I Have, he said he takes his pain and puts it into songs. Also he mentions change in The Search when he says he wrote a song about that, you should play it. As he says that’s he’s right by the swing with his mom lying in it.
This song is so relatable. I feel like he knows he needs to grow and get better to be happier. But he also knows as long as he has this pain he can justify his music and career. He knows he needs to commit to change. And that's also where fear comes in cause in past songs he talks about his fear controlling him and keeping him from letting go of his pain cause his fear tells him that if he let's go of his pain he has nothing left and he has no career, no music, no identity.
This is one of my favorites because I find it the most relatable "I need change Yeah, that's kinda easy to say, right? But difficult to do when I feel like I hate life And everyone around me kinda thinks I'm a great guy But I don't ever think it so I think I'm a fake liar" hits hard. Being addicted to the pain is like people who are addicted to being a victim they see the world against the but they find solace in it that thats all the see, there is solace in being the one who is always sad or down which is the reason criticism comes as being 1 dimensional but anyone that actually thinks this has not really listened. As for a turning point I think you are right but mostly in wanting to change, keep up the good work
I commented on your last video, about borderline personality and seeing the world in black and white... And afterwards I happen to hear this song on my way home from work. It hits every single button. Having bpd is like knowing you're stuck in your own head and that youre ruining things with people but you literally can't do anything about it. My days can go from alright to just wanting to set the world on fire within seconds.
"I don't do drugs, I'm addicted to the pain though" became real for me after my daughter passed away at just 10 months old in 2015. Her birthday is coming up on December 4th. But I took to the gym, use to work out 4 days a week but right after I took it to 7 days a week. Never really took a day off for about 6 years straight really. To back up what Lex was speaking on with the loss of her father and having to "be there for her mom", that's how people were with me and my wife. They would always tell me to be there for my wife. Which I was. Had no problems with it, but no one worries about the grief of the father, like he didn't go through it too. Or the kids, like they didn't lose their father to in your situation. I hear you.
You might get as much from martial arts as I have. It's been an incredible outlet for that pent up energy that a lot of us guys have, but so many turn to television, video games, etc. to escape the pressure of when those things, despite being enjoyable, don't scratch thst particular itch. You talking about there being times where your mood wanders to a dark, aggressive place, and trying to scratch that itch by watching UFC videos or knockout compilations prompted me to suggest it. Just like Nate's music can make me introspective in one track on one day but give me hype energy in another track on another day, I personally found Brazilian jiu jitsu 2 1/2 years ago and can get both peace and war out of it. A stripe away from my blue belt, and I listen to NF's songs as a big portion of my pumped up mix as motivation. At 6'0 and about 200 pounds, I was shocked to get submitted by guys half a good shorter than me, lighter than me by thirty pounds, probably, and yet I couldn't stop it. Even got arm-bar'd by two different women. It let me know that technique mattered, and that I didn't know anything. I've stuck with it because the exercise is great, the confidence I get knowing my first-day self would have no chance against my present-day self if we had a time machine and fought, and I still probably don't know 10% of all there is to know. I tried it for the first time at 32. It's not too late to find that outlet if you find that simply watching those videos doesn't give you enough of a release when you're in that headspace!
Y'all got to check out one of his first songs called "start over" with Flame.. he sings with a lot of Christian artist.. there's a deeper message in most all of his songs that some don't see..
So we're just gonna ignore the verse after that, the last verse of the song huh "Last year i felt suicidal, this year i thought I'd do something different like talking to God" And that being the last verse, while also being the climax of the song, and followed by a chorus of CHANGE, which she mentioned just before that that this sounds like a church song. Because the point is, if you want change you should talk to God more and get out of your head with all those emotions that are harmful.
I'm gonna put myself out there. So, I rap about my pain like NF does, and I relate so much to his lyrics. They've helped me see so much. I'm still in depression but I'm fighting and therapy is so worth it. I love your videos, guys. Keep it up. Don't let the dislikes get to you, any negative thing people say, should be ignored and stepped on. God bless you!!
Thanks, Toasty!! This was a very timely comment that I needed to hear 🙏🏾 We want to checkout some newer artists, but I'm not sure if people will watch. Hmu on ig @bradandlex and we'll check you out. Wishing you all the best with your music and battling depression. I know that's not an easy fight, but it sounds like therapy is getting you right 💪🏾 Sending mad love from Florida!!
@@BradAndLex Thanks man! But here's the funny thing, I can't start recording yet because I'm 16 and I'm broke, ahahah, but I appreciate it a lot, you guys are amazing! Love from Brazil!
Enjoying your NF Journey, can’t wait for more of them. The search album is amazing, some other ones on there that are really good are, time, Nate, my stress, let me go and only. Looking forward to more from you guys
So I learned this in Psychology a few years ago; when we're sad we look for things that continue to make us sad, the same with happiness. Obviously being happy is seen as a better way of living but being too happy is dangerous not just to yourself but to those around you (ex: being so happy you feel you could survive a 3 story fall...and then procede with the action. Extreme but it happens).
Love your channel, u guys are great! I appreciate your discussions and debates on each and every song! Not to mention NF is amazing...but you 2 r as well...keep it up... U should check out paid my dues. That one may have a future meaning,, and he snaps on that song..lol
Brad,I totalyget what you were talking about. Watching videos as not a solution but it was one step up from misery. You Tube is my escape when I get to that point. Its either that or start drinking...and thats not an option with my family history. But we understand its not the solution we just need a break.
Thanks you for bringing that Song to me, i agree in your assumption in being the piviot song on the album... maybe because he already mentioned it in the video on "the search" be the phrase: I been through so many changes, wrote a song about it, you should play it...
I don’t know if you’ll listen to the interlude on the search but it really does explain where his head was at, and when I heard it for the first time I related to it not only because of how real it was but from the other side, like I was where he was before, and he’s now past it and nothing changed somehow things got worse, idk but yeah just saying.
Short fuse, right here..I have kinda changed, I listened to the people that I would take an object going very fast for. Yet, threaten someone I care about… I will be really nice to them.
Are you going down the album song by song in order? Cause you should. Every NF song is incredible but especially in the search. You should go one by one in order
You know when you're addicted to pain... after a while you don't need to have a reason to feel it. Because reasons fade away but the pain it becomes your friend and it stays.
Well, said. I lived a good portion of my life like that.
I think of "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness"...different song. But that feeling. I never knew I was living it. Til I heard it. like that. And like this! So blest! Great thought. Thanks for sharing!

I'm the kind of person that loves listening to people's problems.. I'm very positive because I have to be
I don't have any other option...
You gotta be strong to shoulder everyone's problems. Respect 👊🏾
Easily my favorite song off the search album. Definitely relatable

My fav. The way he rides the beat. Greatness

But difficult to do when I feel like I hate life
And everyone around me kinda thinks I'm a great guy

I commented on your last video, about borderline personality and seeing the world in black and white... And afterwards I happen to hear this song on my way home from work. It hits every single button. Having bpd is like knowing you're stuck in your own head and that youre ruining things with people but you literally can't do anything about it. My days can go from alright to just wanting to set the world on fire within seconds.
Being patient and encouragement to staying focus and positive. Love it.

Just like Nate's music can make me introspective in one track on one day but give me hype energy in another track on another day,
I personally found Brazilian jiu jitsu 2 1/2 years ago and can get both peace and war out of it.
Definitely a top 3 NF for me
This is one of my personal favorites out of all his songs
Y'all got to check out one of his first songs called "start over" with Flame.. he sings with a lot of Christian artist.. there's a deeper message in most all of his songs that some don't see..
So we're just gonna ignore the verse after that, the last verse of the song huh
"Last year i felt suicidal, this year i thought I'd do something different like talking to God"
And that being the last verse, while also being the climax of the song, and followed by a chorus of CHANGE, which she mentioned just before that that this sounds like a church song. Because the point is, if you want change you should talk to God more and get out of your head with all those emotions that are harmful.
My favorite NF song ever and it doesnt get talked about much.
I'm gonna put myself out there. So, I rap about my pain like NF does, and I relate so much to his lyrics. They've helped me see so much. I'm still in depression but I'm fighting and therapy is so worth it. I love your videos, guys. Keep it up. "I miss the days" is sooo good, not crazy important for the journey but is definitely adds some more flavor to his storytelling. Makes you reminisce
Just FYI, when you get to Hate Myself, make sure to watch Interlude first. Interlude isn’t really a song, but it provides context for Hate Myself
LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!!!!!!!
this song is really good for what he talks about working through during the song search.

Thanks, Camia! 🙏🏾
I can’t wait until they react to My stress, Only, like this, hate myself, and let me go. These are my favorites🖤
if im correct, saw your channel recently passed 1M views! congrats! JUST STARTING
Another masterpiece ✌🏻
You are two mature and lovely people ^^
Can’t wait for “I miss the days”
You on the best album now!!
Brad,I totalyget what you were talking about. Watching videos as not a solution but it was one step up from misery. You Tube is my escape when I get to that point. Its either that or start drinking...and thats not an option with my family history. But we understand its not the solution we just need a break.
My favorite song off of the Search album
Yoooooooooooooo this made my day :D
🖤🖤🖤 that’s what’s up!
Hip hop gold right here scratch that platinum.
💯
Can't wait for "When i grow up"
dude same. I love their reaction videos.
Thanks you for bringing that Song to me, i agree in your assumption in being the piviot song on the album... maybe because he already mentioned it in the video on "the search" be the phrase: I been through so many changes, wrote a song about it, you should play it...
Man this song got me thru a lot
Dang ngl that purple looks great on you and I really like the color
🙏🏽💯🤷🏽♀️🖤
I don’t know if you’ll listen to the interlude on the search but it really does explain where his head was at, and when I heard it for the first time I related to it not only because of how real it was but from the other side, like I was where he was before, and he’s now past it and nothing changed somehow things got worse, idk but yeah just saying.
Over lap some Twenty One pilot videos with NF both fans bases respect each other and will help you grow. sleepin fam
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll work them in for sure
Agree 💯
At the end y’all say you cannot wait!?!?!? Shitt I’ve been waiting 6 years lmao almost 2 for this mixtape 😂😂 it’s gonna be a masterpiece
💯💯💯😆😆😆
Love him
Short fuse, right here..I have kinda changed, I listened to the people that I would take an object going very fast for. Yet, threaten someone I care about… I will be really nice to them.
Short fuse gang. 😆 I'm with ya there
💣😂
Are you going down the album song by song in order? Cause you should. Every NF song is incredible but especially in the search. You should go one by one in order
Yep 💯
I'm finally early! Yay! :P
Our dogs are super bossy too lol. Nice name and pic!!
