    Thank You!!! Our 1300 is pretty new yet so we were pretty disappointed when it quit working. When I disassembled it, I found that our pump wasn't clogged at all but with your excellent video, I was able to guard against losing the glass ball, identified that the piston was binding and applied a very thin layer of petroleum jelly to the piston. That did the trick and it worked like a charm. Thank You for a GREAT video!

    You helped me get my machine going again. The Hurricane was a big hit in my neighborhood till it stopped working. I used a fog fragrance bought on amazon to help the stench of the fog. I would never recommend doing that fog fragrance to anyone because I suspect it of gumming up the springs in the pump. I appreciate posting this video....now the new concern is how to store these machines to leave fluid in or clean with vinegar and empty. Showing the COMPLETE disassembly was essential to getting my fogger going because the springs were frozen

    Thanks! Took apart and when I unscrewed the ball assembly from the pump no liquid came through. When I got that little internal spring to come out then the liquid started dripping out. I reassembled and Holy Crap....it works like new. I was this close to throwing it out man. Your vid saved me a lot of cash.

    This is STILL a useful video. Thanks for putting it up there. We've got several machines I'll be working on fixing this year. One of them has a replacement pump that's approximately 20W less rating and looks completely different though they're both the exact same fogger. I believe someone else tried to fix it once before, ha!
    And, about fog fragrance... if it's not built in to the fog fluid, don't add it. Those fragrance liquids are meant for things like "essential oil diffusers", not fog machines. Fog machines get much hotter than most of those fragrances were ever meant for..

    After taking it apart twice to clean and fix the pump, which didn't correct the buzzes but no fog problem. I decided to connect the pump directly to 120V. Worked like a champ, seems my units problem is the circuit to control the fog output volume is not driving the pump hard enough. More troubleshooting. Thank you for the teardown video.

    High there! I enjoyed your video and it helped me a lot to fix my saecco gran crema espresso machine (in which the same ULKA pump is built in).
    In 3:53 you mention that the pump is done if you loose the little plastic ball on the cheque valve. During reassembly I lost this small ball and I was really angry, but I found a simple replacement; a pin needle with a round pinhead! It´s diameter fits, I even do not have to separate the pinhead from the needle, just inserted it into the valve seat. It works perfectly, (however I don´t know whether the plastic head of the needle is affected by the heat in the long run).

      @airplanespaceshipdj.flugve2878 2 роки тому

      you can also buy pins for sewing with glass heads, that would probably work also :)

    • @zoltannagy7628
      @zoltannagy7628 2 роки тому

      @@airplanespaceshipdj.flugve2878 That´s what I did in the first place, but the glass pin of the needle didn´t last long (as anticipated before). So I replaced it by a small steal ball (which I took from an old rotating wheel chare) which had a suitable diameter. Now it works fine since months now.

    Excellent and not yelling ; ) Question: When a fog machine is run dry,and the pump makes no noise, is it the coils (in this case inside the red plastic cylinder) that overheats? So that's why they say "the pump burnt out" it's because there's no liquid lubrication in the silver metal cylinder you took out that otherwise moves back & forth very fast with the springs. Therefore the coils are the part that overheats? Thanx!

    My smoke machine was left in a humid place from October 31 of 2016 till today
    Tomorrow is halloween and my smoke machine was dispensing little puffs of smoke
    All I did was let it heat up for 5 min or so until I got it up and running perfectly
    I didn't take it apart or get any special materials just the smoke machine liquid
    (I have a VFI 1000 smoke machine)
    Best of luck and a happy Holloween to all

    One last note, the inside of this machine is virtually identical to the VEI V-960 EL Capitan. With the exception the VEI has the constant output circuit board, instead of this one. Both are classic great performance models.

    I was actually able to pull the little plastic piece from the end of the plunger and it is connected to a spring. So why do i have that which plugs the end of the plunger and a green plastic plug at the end of the spring on the other section. Yous was black, but mine is green. Bought mine last year 2016 so there are probably upgrades. Thanks.

    Great overview. Curious about this idea I have. I've been thinking of using a air compressor to clean out the heater core before storing. Essentially just blasting air through the copper pipe. Good or bad idea? I've had two fog machines fail even though I properly clean then out before storage.

    • @BobbyDotNet

      Two mfgs have told me to empty the tank, let fluid that is in the lines remain. They also say use it every to months, but I ignore that part.

    • @Elektrotechniker
      @Elektrotechniker 2 роки тому

      Don't use compressed air to blow through your lines. The next time the Solenoid pump will run without any liquid as it has very Limited self priming capabilities. It'll basically destroy its gaskets from running dry

    I just bought a chauvet 1200, its not shooting fog, its ‘working’ but not producing fog, it heats up and the pump is pumping juice because i disconnected the outlet pipe and tested it for a short moment and fluid came out although slowly. Could it be the heater is blocked by something?

    what pump is this?

  • @pmfman
    @pmfman 8 років тому +1

    That is total unnecessary overkill. Pump distilled water through it, or force it through the pump with a syringe. There is no need to take it apart like that

    • @theslimed2013
      @theslimed2013 7 років тому

      How is it overkill? If you want something done right you do it right the FIRST time. If people have stages with fog machines hanging up, they rather just take it apart do this and make sure that its clear rather than do your half ass method for a quick fix, and when you really need it to work, it fails.

    • @pmfman
      @pmfman 7 років тому +1

      Because you are doing steps that have no bearing on the operation of the pump at the cost of confusing people that don't know any better. At best you are improving the torque of the electric motor, however in a pump which is pumping something that has similar viscosity to water, the 5-10% loss of torque will not result in a loss of the actual CFM that the pump can produce. You are confusing the efficiency of the electric motor within the pump with the overall efficiency of the pump itself

    • @theslimed2013
      @theslimed2013 7 років тому

      I guess the only thing that matters in this case is that it works and you don't have to shell out more money to buy another machine.
