- In todays video we take a look at my Ice Barrier Runick deck that I’ve been working on since the cards were announced a few months ago

The forbidden tech is adding deep-sea primadonna so that you can special summon water barrier statue from the deck by giving your opponent one of the banished cards from your runic cards (tip golden drop etc) for a turn 1 hard stun

Very good list! I've put in 1 Icejade Ran Aegirine with is a free lvl 10 water synchro if you have 1 water for discard and the lvl 10 Icejade synchro with is really good for protecting your Lancea
Like the list! Do you like running 3 hexa instead of 3 revealer because it’s a normal summon that’s also a tuner? Most lists I’ve seen only run 1 to 2
Yeah because it doesn’t water lock you and it’s a tuner it plays a lot better with the runick engine, also if you’re discarding for hugin and revealer your hand size goes down very quickly!

Thoughts on Aegirine? It's pretty good on its own if you don't have any Runicks, brings itself back if your opponent uses something like S:P or Fenrir, and it makes it so you can't get Zealantis OTK'd.
It’s really good for all the reasons you said, a good replacement for S:P if moneys tight (which mine always is lmao) so I deffo can see myself potentially playing it

Have you considered playing spright sprind, for if hexa gets negated? You can search off hugin then link into sprind to send mmm.
I have and it’s not bad, however it does take an extra deck slot and fills the EMZ so you can’t activate any runicks to summon.
Also assuming you’ve used your normal on hexa then it’s quite difficult to put another ice barrier on board (realistically it’s the reborn for MMM)
You can 100% play it, I think if hexa gets negated and I need fountain badly I’m gonna just have to make S:P afterwards.

@@aegisygo7406can’t you just send mirror magic, get freezing chains, special back mirror magic, and then tribute the sprind for the mirror magic? and if you have another runick in hand at that point, you can just chain it since the emz is cleared
What about sprind? if you go hugin and ns hexa, they ht it, you make sprind and send mirror magic to keep playing even without having to draw an extender
It works but it fills your EMZ so you can’t summon more runick monsters. Also it takes ice barriers off field so they only thing you can search to keep going is the reborn to bring back mirror magic and then tribute for Dragite through coral.
So it gets you somewhere. Alternatively you can just make S:P with Hexa Hugin in that scenario.

Why not cut one Hugin to run Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier? Lancea dies, get Zero Dragon, banish 3. Then if Zero Dragon dies, you get a 3300 ATK Trish plus a Dark Ruler No More effect on top.
Ive tested the deck a bit and I feel like Revealer is pretty bad in Runick. The water lock is harsh because you cant make your Runick plays after you use her effect. And the fact that Hugin is in the extra monster zone is bad because you cant make Bahamut into Toad into Marincess link 2 play...
Yeah it’s not as good in runick as it is in pure, but it is another starter and I’d personally rather have more starters even if they conflict with the runick cards.
For example if I open MMM and a runick spell searching revealer off MMM off the hugin discard allows you to build a board that’s better than if you didn’t have it.

@@aegisygo7406 but in this combo you can't make Herald, and you can't summon another Runick monster if you had a second Runick spell :/

No but you can end on Lancea + Dragite and just use the runick spell on opps as interruption and to get your draws.
If you don’t like it as a starter you could always cut it down to 1 copy since it’s super searchable. I also like revealer as a turn 3 play because summon georgious from deck revive something from gy is incredible follow up.
But I agree my list does need more testing it is by no means a perfect list just where I’ve ended up after about 9 months of testing on and off. (Can you believe these cards were announced September last year it’s flew by!)
What could be a good generic side
Hard to say because it depends what the playable decks are when all the new cards come out from Battles and Info.
You’re likely going to want to side an ice barrier floodgate monster for less monster heavy decks like Medium of the ice barrier.
I imagine d barrier is still gonna be mandatory, probably want nibiru. Evenly seems to always be popular in runick combo decks.
But honestly it depends what’s being played!
