Not a social media person but I am really loving the glp1 community here on youtube! Feels like a real family!!! Started 7wks ago but started researching months before. I really love all of you fierce warriors who ventured on this journey a year or 2 ago & braved the waters before us & who spend so much of your time contributing to the healthy positiveness of this wonderful treatment The info assistance & love u all provide has been so truly amazing. I appreciate u all & I will share this comment with others youtube glp1 channels to let the community know you all are priceless and really make this journey fun & safer. Thanks so much 💛!!!
What a lovely positive comment and good of you to share it. I'm like you at 7 weeks but had resisted any GLP1 for ages but I finally gave in and now I am 19lbs down and feel good. Hope your journey is going well so far.
This is what we need more of, I just love the positivity! Best of luck!
Progress not perfection,I really like that. May be my motto. I get so hung up on seeing weekly weight loss, I gave to remind myself to look at whole picture.
Right! I needed to hear that! Such a simple saying that really had a positive impact on me.
Yes I'm on the same boat on getting back to basics and get this weight moving again. I just bought a walking pad from Amazon and I absolutely love it especially since the weather is changing and I don't do well in cold weather trying to get to the gym. I can now get my workout in right at home and my steps!
Which one did you buy?
@JenelleKetcham the brand I bought is called YEMSD and it's great. It doesn't incline like some do but I didn't care about that..
Thank you so much for sharing your feelings and experiences I'm 2 months into Mounjaro and its been a bit slow, but steady.
That’s the best way to do!
First time here, Jenelle. I'm 2.5+ years into my health and weight loss excursion (it is so much more than a journey for me!). Mind you, I am a way super-responder to GLP-1s, but I have also worked my butt off (quite literally!). I started at 405 lbs. and today weigh 140 lbs. That's a loss of 265 lbs. I never had a goal weight or weight loss number. I had lab goals and I have met, and surpassed, them in spades. No one even tried to put a goal number on the scale for me; I would not let them if they did. Instead, I just lived. I'd been bedridden for a decade from my fat. A lifetime of severe morbid obesity culminated in my nearly dying from being so fat. Today, I walk an average of 4.5 miles every morning, going to the gym every other day, and am ALIVE! For the first time in my life. I don't say _any_ of this to dangle a carrot. Instead, I started 2.5 years ago by not using the walker to walk 5 ft. to the bathroom. It took 6 months before I could get to the mailbox at the end of the driveway. The only weights I lifted were my arms. It took over a year and over 150 lbs. before I could even try to walk around the block. All I did, Jenelle, was a tiny bit more each day. If I had to turn around at a certain driveway because I knew I had to get back to the house, the next day, I would go just one more driveway. For me, these medications (Trulicity first, now Mounjaro) are a shot of Inspiration & Motivation. I have zero desire to go off of them, but I encourage people to not even _think_ that far ahead. When you look down the road so far, you can trip over a rock in your path. Just BE. That cliche, Stay in the Moment thing is _so_ apt for these medications. Live your life NOW because that really is all you have... we have. None of us knows what the future holds. There might be a pill we take once a day that keeps us in maintenance by the time we are ready for that. Why think about all that now? Just live your life as a lighter and healthier person. THAT is the goal.
Also, as I was going down (and I only weigh on Mondays... starting in January, I am only weighing on the 1st of the month), I had 6-8 week "stalls." I tried hard not to fret about it because we _all_ eventually stop losing weight. Our body gets to decide when that is. We do our part, but that is all we can do. Not having a goal relieved me of the pressure to DO something about the stall. I did what I knew I was supposed to do to LIVE and then, eventually, the scale started to move again. When the scale obsession became too much, I had a friend lock my scale in her closet so I couldn't use it. I did that several times and it helped me to just let the scale thoughts and worries be set aside for awhile.
Anyway, your keeping things simple is a fantastic idea. Just do what you can and want to do that will be kind and loving to your body and spirit. Have fun with the new mobility, the great new food choices, the possibilities that still lie in front of you. I am on your side and cheering you on.
This was an amazing, honest video. Ditto here.
The last lap….and thinking toward maintenance is very different! I had even reverted back to skipping meals to lose this last few pounds. Diet culture!
Today I decided to do what I’ve done for over a year. It has worked! Why stop what has worked? Eat small, protein filled, and nutritionally correct meals.
I was getting hungry, and calling it food noise! No! I was hungry because I wasn’t eating!
Thank you for sharing! It encouraged me that you were getting back to basics, too!
Progress, not perfection. Golden! Thank you!
I’m not meaning to be critical, I’m just wondering if maybe you have just been overthinking this whole process. I think your idea of getting back to basics is probably a good idea. When I went on this journey, I didn’t try to change EVERYTHING , I just tried to be me, realizing who I was never going to be and what I was able and willing to follow through with for the long haul. I added some exercise, I am staying in a calorie deficit, and try to eat a little healthier. Nothing extreme. I hope your journey brings you joy.
That is what I did for many many months and then just recently starting trying new things that I used to love to do when I was younger and overcomplicated things. Guess that can happen when trying to lose weight and change your lifestyle for over 19 months!!
You remind me so much of my friend Tanja...I listened to this on my drive today abd felt like a conversation with a girlfriend. Starting thinking about how I can add more steps in my day, and more veggies. Thanks for the gentle boost and reminder to KISS.
Great video! Getting back to the basics is a great strategy. Are you planning to continue using the Lumen device?
Yes I am! I will be showing more of it in my content moving forward.
You're doing SO well & you're an inspiration for so many women. And even though you're not at your stated goal, you're modeling what maintenance might look like for those who need it as you're not gaining). Q: are you doing strength training?🎉❤
Yes early on I did 4 days a week but now I am going 3 days. Upper, Lower and then total body.
After losing 120lbs twice inthe past 10 years, I'm going to focus on the importance of MAINTAINING each and every pound I lose. I want this to be my last time I lose 120 lbs .Im down 60 in 8 months, so far, on Zepbound. Thanks for your videos.
I was just having this exact conversation with a friend of mine. I feel like I was given another chance to get healthy and lose weight that I am willing to learn and grow to figure out the maintenance side of things. We got this!
I'm sure your body is going through a recomposition and I am confident you will lose the weight soon once all of that is adjusted and your back to basics approach has settled in. Isn't that what all of this is about, taking stock, making adjustments and trying something new to possible go back to tried and true. Sending positive thoughts your way for those last pesky 7lbs.❤
Jenelle, I am write there with you. No loss in October. 😥
I am new to your channel. Thank you for sharing all of your information and insights from your journey. I’m interested in the shoes you mentioned. What style do you wear? I have plantar fasciitis and it sucks and I’m trying to walk at least 10 K steps a day.
The brand is Raesyn. raesyn.com
Hi from the U.K. starting today 20/11 so could you tell me what fitness app the type you add your meals to and it figures out your calories protein etc. many thanks keep chipping away at that weight your get there.
I like my fitness pal the best but have heard great things about lose it
plateaus suck... Granted all we can see is your face, but you look to be in great shape. Maybe you hit your goal 10lbs ago, and are now trying to stretch.
I had a friend mention that to me the other day. I decided to get back to basics and just focus on what I am eating and working out. As much as I had a goal weight set, I am going to eliminate weighing in as frequently and just do occasional check ins if my doctor needs one.
