Please actually test-drive the apps you recommend. This feels like you haven't used them. Then rate them against other app. Family link has major issues for example.
google is quite useless for me. got a 13 yrs lld, with a smartphone. my biggest challenge is to give him some fair time limitations, withouy completelly blocking things. let's say i want to limit gaming to 30'/day. google doesnt allow me to do so soecifically: i can only set a limit to each individual app (eg.4 games x 30' each).
I would like to have a way to only allow certain calling and texts to and from my child's android. Everything I look at says family link but also says I need to download family link for children and teenagers....there's no such app unless I'm not seeing it.

I.e phones, pc, windows, ios, android, etc. Instead just proceeds with the vague term “apps” I’m looking for an alternative to windows default parental control because the default is completely unreliable.
I dunno, apps tend to mean smart phones or tablets. What you are looking for is a windows specific *program*. Good luck because those tend to be a Google search away from disabling/deleting for most somewhat tech savvy people

Family Link is soooo hard to understand, and its block the device even for parents or I dont know how to use it
Tell me how to block certain videos on youtube app in android ? restricted mode does not help.
Are you trying to block a certain channel, a particular video, or a particular type of video?
Both certain channel & certain type of videos & also some specific videos

UA-cam kids app would be the easiest answer. You can set content rating in that and block channels

It's the same Family Link app. It asks when you set it up if it is a child or parent phone
And yes, I just saw the setting today to block unknown numbers from calling and texting
