    @THORA2012 Chingis means sea in anceint Mongolian language. Tengis means sea in modern Mongolian language. Therefore name of Chingis khaan means King great as a sea. Dengiz is sounds very close to Chingis. Interesting right?. Also Hungarian national close is very similar to Mongolian deel. I believe that your ansesters came from Mongolian stepps. HUN or we call them Hunnu.

    While I am a secular humanist and quite the believer in reason as man's best tool, I disagree with the idea that superstition is a foolish thing. Science has proven that mithology and non-modern thinking plays an important role in the human psyche and on mental health, so tradition(superstition) is healthy and therefore not foolish.

    SKY means God and the Freedom, TENGRI was also RELIGION of VOLGA BULGARS before Christianity and Islam came .

    Sagan, superstition is a frame of mind that bases itself on fields and terms of reference that, for good or for worst, are not applicable and neither comparable to the west's rational knowledge. Therefore, it is deemed as baseless and irrational by who follows the west's scientific and quantifiable logic.
    I think this is a point you agree with.

  •  14 років тому +3

    @TToyku
    "gök" is coming of kök and kök means blue. Today in anatolian villages people say to blue and to green gök or göy.
    Kök Tengri means "blue sky". The "blue sky" was and is the god of the Turks. When the first turkic nomads became muslim thay transform the sky tengri to temgri the god (Allah).

  • @VendPrekmurec
    @VendPrekmurec 13 років тому +1

    @tuskin4 Mongol comes from greek term "great one". Gengis Khan was blond man with blue eyes - "great one" Russian tribal general (Khan). Whole western "history" about Asia is wrong...

  • @martincassar
    @martincassar 15 років тому

    Continuing on the previous point, you yourself are deemed irrational from the perspective of the people who embrace what you call superstition, According to their logic, your own reason is limited for you don't see facts that follow a difference framework of identification. So, who is right, Sagan? you, with your pompous reasoning that debases anything that does not conform to your worldview, or theirs, which is more tolerant and accepting? The only difference is who controls knowledge.
