There are probably many people (especially single ppl) who'd be content to do some "work" if it was part-time. And they'd probably find it would lead to more full-time work anyhow. Bent-Gov ought to make a lot more part-time work available & prices e.g. housing to match. Single people are not going to work 45 hour weeks to lose 95% of their wages to housing and other retarded costs.

The university's career center is also a great resource for finding openings. Being proactive, networking and regularly checking job boards will help you secure something good.
