Suite No 4 Overture is surprising, some lush-ness quite uncharacteristic of a typical baroque style at 1:16:50 and again at 1:18:25. It has quite a magical effect.

I just discovered this magnificent man. His music moves me so much! The intelligence, the patterns, the melodies. He paints the music in your mind. He transports you. I cannot find anyone else around me who can hear it...other than the comment section on UA-cam. LMAO

Concentus Musicus Wien's sound is unforgettable. I just read Harnoncourt's book and I was astonished how his style and his theoretical ideas blend together wonderfully
i totally agree with you. harnoncourt was one of the best muicians specially in the last century. (He died in 2016)
I adore his integral of cantatas by JS BACH with the choirs of white voices and his preference by original instruments.
Elegant and powerful as only JS Bach can do it.

No, Thik Boy - elegance and powerfulness can be found within many a piece of music. What it is that Bach can do like no one else has´nt been finaly figured out yet - and properly never will. Until then we must learn just to shut up our big mouthes and listen.
Kepler I listened before I spoke and if you read properly before opening your mouth you would know I said 'as only JS Bach can do it'. That doesn't even imply that nobody else is powerful or elegant.

The other day, I went to visit a descendant of J. S. Bach by the name of Burt. On my way into his home, I stopped to pick up a stone because I've always wanted to give Burt Bach a rock.

It’s Leopold Stastny. He was/is? A fantastic player who worked only with Harnoncourt as far as I can tell.
Like all the original members of the Concentus Musicus Wien, Stastny was one of Harnoncourt's colleagues in the Vienna Symphony Orchestra whom he convinced to play a period instrument 'on the side'. He was with Concentus until 1990 or so.

BACH:.es como una biblioteca..pero es tan monumental ,que a diferencia de otras bibliotecas que tienen obras de muchos autores BACH en sí mismo es una biblioteca de un solo autor....el grande y monumental BACH....

No habría que silenciar un reconocimiento de la interpretación de Harnoncourt, que recrea estas piezas de manera brillante, haciendo tan nítida la riqueza contrapuntística, que en tantas versiones suele aparecer un tanto opacada.

Beautiful, moving expression of these great works. Fascinating that Harnoncourt seems to have taken the accompanying photo; we may assume (?) it gives us an insight into his feeling for this music. If Austrian Alps beyond the meadow, could the white one be a Lippizaner stallion, destined to perform - dance - to great music? Thanks to all.

@@sadvipra31 Thanks. Actually, the Lipizzaners have a different conformation, as well. They do perform to Baroque music. Bach, chronologically, if not geographically, might have seen them. I was fortunate to attend a performance of the Spanish Riding School in an American arena, where I think an arrangement of Bach was included.

Allthough, this town is very near the chilean border, and the Fitzroy peaks looks quite similar than Torres del Paine peaks, which are about 300 km southwards in chilean Patagonia. Why does Harnoncourt play Bach in jerks, if you know what I mean. There's probably a term for it. But it sounds a bit odd to me.
Sure - perhaps, think of his approach to accenting the flow of each passage as surging, rather than steady, "mechanical;" not as correct as we would expect for Bach's period, but, when as well done as here (my opinion), adds the dimension of Harnoncourt's own emotional response to this great music. Just a thought.
He plays phrases as phrases rather than running them together as is the modern practice. It's not jerks, it's just breating.

Diese Suites klingen am ausdrucksvollsten unter der Leitung von Karl Richter. Hier fehlt irgendwie etwas. Schade. Ich bin nicht sehr begeistert.
