I think the reason why people think Ashe has a higher range than Dan is because he has a much more feminine tone but in reality, they're just the same.
Mr. Side Comments Yes I don’t think their overall range in terms of the notes they can hit is that different, but the area Dan’s voice naturally falls in I’m sure is quite a bit lower. He’s trained himself to be able reach those really high notes. Nocturne is usually a good example. The D5 in the chorus (‘you’re the plague with-IN my dreams’) seemed to come fairly easily to Ashe, whereas you can usually tell it’s a slight push for Dan, even though he can hit it.
@@tmb8807 I'm gonna agree with you on this one. Not to trash on Ashe, but this just proves that Dan is the more vocally trained/skilled of the two. I personally think that Tesseract would last longer with Dan in terms of career longevity and I can see him still sound good if he hits old age because his technique is much more sustainable in the long run compared to the latter. If for example Ashe wasn't fired from the band, yeah he too may have a good run with Tesseract but I fear that he'll follow the path of Dream Theater singer James Labrie, another high pitched male singer whose voice sounded beautiful in his youth but ended up being horrible in his twilight years.
@@mr.sidecomments9278 Yeah I know virtually nothing about Ashe other than what I hear. With Dan being a vocal coach his technique has gotta be rock solid. But ultimately you deal with what nature gave you and Ashe's voice just seems to be naturally very high. There's a full-voice sustained E5 in Nocturne, for example, and a rock solid B5 in falsetto at the end of Resist. I've heard women who struggle to get that high but Ashe never seems to me like he's straining to reach those notes. Although I'd say it's a little misleading to refer to it as a greater 'range' than Dan, because I'd bet Dan can probably go lower.
@@EdNieves82 I mean weird in a good way lol. It was fun watching him do it live. The coolest move was him throwing the mic stand high into the air and doing a spin and catching it perfectly.
Love how he changes "Chances I ignore" to his own style. Dan is so awesome.
I’m not a drummer but the drums of this one is really insane…
Obsessed with the drums on this track!
Love how dan can perform altered state stuff live this good. Must be tough to reach ashe's vocal range

Cant agree with you more. Gotta give both credit! But to be fair only Ashe’s range can make me cry
