As an ex bear (what they call their staff) thanks for the reminder, lol. The real stuffing station is a threshing machine of death with at least two kill switches. If it gets blocked, it's a SAW game. Also, losing your grip on one of the skins while stuffing is hilarious as the bear shoots off like rocket powered by it's own fluff.
Not to mention having to make up a funny line about losing your grip and stuffing going everywhere. I always said "I didn't know it was going to snow today!" when stuffing went flying. The kids loved it.
@Lyonn Ahhhh that's a bear classic! 🐻 🐾 good to see another. I used to just say "whoops, he/she/they went for a little jump." The kids do find it a real giggle. I had to look the machine back up and it really does look smaller than I remember. Did you ever learn the stitch trick if the pull seams failed? It's like the only pillow stitch I can actually do now.

Only trained staff ever went anywhere near it and you need keys and stuff. I just happened to be supervisor level so... it be me.

Storytime: When i was 6 my parents took me to colorado with them for my dads hospital visit since he has CP (cerebral polsy) and we stayed there for about a week. we went to walmart and i begged them for this build-a-bear stuffing station. i got it and we went back to the hotel, i opened it up, and made the bears. time skip about 2 days after when we were on our way home, we stopped at a fancy restaurant and ate there, i brought my bears inside with me too. we left and i realized when i got home they werent with me or in the car. i realized i left them at the restaurant. now i hope that some other little girl found those bears and loves them just like i did.

i work at build a bear and i can confirm that the real stuffing machine is terrifying. stuffing the bear isn’t so bad unless you lose your grip on the skin, but what i really hate is refilling the machine. the stuffing gives me hives and i’m pretty sure if i do this job long enough it’ll give me silicosis or smth 😅

But then one day she took both me and my little brotuer to the store and told us to pick a bear to build. I was so excited we built out bears, and after we checked out she said "These bears you just built are actually going to your little cousin for his birthday!" i cried so goddamn hard that day. I love my mom but that was an absolutely DIABOLICALLY EVIL thing to do to a child who has always wanted to go there. I never got my bear 😢😢
I had something that was somewhat similar. There were a few differences and those being the bear was bigger(like ones you would buy from a Build-A-Bear), you had to hand stuff it and it sewed shut instead of zipping up.
I think they sold these as a “how to sew” instructional, right? Unless im thinking of a different product. I remember wanting one really bad because i had already been repairing my old build-a-bears for a while
I can only imagine how much additional bears to fill cost cuz if they don't offer replacements what do you do with the machine after? Or are you just supposed to stuff the same one over and over?
