For those talking about average instead of the longest single shot, do you also think the same should be applied in the long and high jump at the olympics? Think before you speak.
You cant miss the sandbox or bar in long and high jump... long drive is the longest drive yes but in golf the best drives are the accurate ones. I wouldn't want it to change but maybe have a different trophy for a separate division when the overall accuracy + distance counts.

Jamie's last drive could have hit reached 380+. It just didn't stay in the grid
Smash factor should be called Ball to Club speed ratio. (B2C speed ratio) Imagine someone that swings only 80 MPH (a senior for example). They are not "smashing" anything.
I feel like they should make this a 3 ball average instead of just he longest one. That way accuracy plays a factor too.

I want to see you guys stick a go pro camera inside a golf ball that is being hit. That would make golf a lot more fun to watch on TV. I attended my first live golf tournament last weekend to see Tiger Woods and he is everything I expected and more. It's awesome to see golf in person haha.

1. Rory doesn't ALWAYS carry it 320, look at average driving stats.
2. The difference between club head speed between these guys and Tour Pro's is 15-20mph, even with the same club in the same conditions they would be a long way past Tour Pro's.
For the record, I find Long Drive absolutely pointless....don't know why I'm even watching.

Why not take the driver with the longest average within the grid as the winner? I think there is more skills in that achievement than just measuring your longest drive.

Long DriversUSA Something similar to it, but instead of points tallying up, how about an average of at least three in the grid. If you don't have three in the grid, then you are disqualified. In the video above, Jamie had better ball dispersion but lost because he didn't have the one longest drive. Then again, there is a reason why ReMax Long Drive is still around.
At these monster speeds, three in the grid is rare. lol. Besides we are looking for the longest hitter of a golf ball on the planet. By 13 inches or a 1/4 mile, winning is winning ,and it only takes one in Long Drive!

Long DriversUSA fair enough - on further review some of these guys have hit it > 500 yards. Stand corrected. The 3rd video on the auto play mentions a "world record" of 427yds which McIlroy outdrove the the Open last year.
lol. Yes in the end, total yardage is relative to the conditions. Wind, Elevation, & Firmness of Fairway. Rory, who hit a great shot, had favorable conditions. These guys are hitting into a steady breeze through the cool night air.

Rory's drive that he did on the European tour was beyond rock hard fairway, downhill hole, and a hurricane at his back. His drive probably would have been 300 yards at most in the conditions these guys were hitting in.
