I like Gabi, but I think she has a very unstable personality and it becomes really hard for people to like her.
Sasha is my favorite character, but I understand why Gabi reacted that way.
What makes it hard for you to accept is the fact that you know both sides of the war.
Her dead acutally symbolise that from now on the "hapiness" is over, because she was the only character who was different and made situations funny. And now the "fun" was killed.

I'm happy that her death meant something too. There have been so many characters that left us and were almost instantly forgotten, but Sasha deserved better than that, so I'm happy we saw her death affecting people and causing a great deal of change

She was supposed to die when she saved that girl from the village appearently. I made a comment on that episode how surprised I was that she didn't die after getting a flashback and then being in such a situation, and then someone told this to me back then.

Eren's laugh was like a trauma response, like how he laughed back when Hannes died. He probably felt like it was just a sick joke, with everything happening and him feeling useless to stop it- even with the powers/knowledge he has now. Always gonna be on Eren's side no matter what tho

Don't forget that Marley (Willy Tyber) called on all countries to unite to destroy Paradise Island. Eren listened to the declaration of war with a sad smile on his face, and only after all countries agreed and began to applaud, Eren attacked. Technically, it was not even a revenge, it was an attack, because the war had already begun. Eren destroyed Marley's main war fleet so that they would not be able to go quick to the island as they had planned. It’s really important to understand and remember all that politic situation.

It's unlikely he forsaw Sasha's demise. It's heavily implied that he only saw some of his memories from the future. Mainly, he saw the memories of Grisha reciving the memories of Future Eren. He probably didn't see full picture of everything until he convinced Ymir to help him, (which might explain why Eren didn't take the titan powers from Armin, Annie, Reiner and the others. He might have seen the solution to everything by then). In short, he probably didn't know, but went ahead with it anyway since that is his nature.

Sasha was a hunter, she knew what it meant to be patient, to be alert, and to only take the shot when it really counted. I'm glad what made her such a good fighter was highlighted before her death. She took her time with the mission reminding Connie to fix the lights for the air ship, she heard Gabi and Falco reach the ship when no one else did, and she made every one of her shots count, never missed, and only targeted those who could fight back and spared Gabi, and at the very end, true to herself, all she wanted was some food with her friends.

Nick, this is why you're one of my favorite reactors on AOT: you understand the characters as much as you understand the story and the conflict while being so entertaining to us. For that reason, I never doubted that you would dislike Gabi because I knew you understood where she was coming from and how f*ed up her environment is. I'm especially glad that you picked up that bit about Eren laughing because he didn't know how to react to the situation. He did the same thing in the season 2 finale when Hannes died. Aaaaa thank you so much for your reactions, they literally make my day (even if it had ruined yours with this episode lmao)

That’s one thing I like about Eren, he may look and seem different now than to what he used to be, but if you look back you can really see he has always been this way, the only difference is he’s not being pushed around, he’s calling the shots now.

Eren attack titan ability is to see the future and founding titan is to control mind and to go back to past. Eren has go back and foward to get the best solution to free paradis from the world, he have done "do nothing and die"(which makes the loop starts again because of curse of ymir) but paradis still become the "devil" in people's eye so (eren transfer his memory from that timeline to the past) he went to do the other strategy which is the rumbling and this is the future he's seen that makes the paradis free from the world and also the curse of ymir.

It’s refreshing to see anime watchers who don’t immediately start hating gabi just cause everyone likes sasha. Taking the time to not jump to hating gabi and learning to see things from gabi’s pov is something we manga readers went through back in the day.
gabi knew everything beforehand. That People were departed and being turned into titans, killed other people while feeling proud, rediculed falco and had the worst personality. Falco understood everything but gabi didnt have any shred of hesitation at all just to kill kill and kill. Eren on the other hand always fought to protect in the beginning and cared for people. Gabi only cared for other people when it was already to late.

I was a Manga reader when Sasha died and I hated Gabi even if I understood her Now I'm anime only and at last season I started liking her

People in these comments are afraid to hate on gabi because it’s basically a meme and everyone keeps comparing her to season 1 eren and although they share similarities, they are not the same. Gabi has been a soldier who has killed other people through cruel tactics since the beginning of the season and she was so proud of herself doing it too. I read the manga back then cuz I couldn't wait anymore. First time I saw Gabi I already didn't like her character . Even if she didn't kill Sasha still wouldn't have liked her. I don't know why 😂. But after the recent episodes she's now kinda ok for me 😂
"The rumbling" shows how Eren in percieved by us and by everyone in the show, and also shows the way he feels, of course during this episode we hated him, or at least we questioned our feelings about him, but I like to think about what he lived trough and the memories he has now about his father and what his true dream is, we can't forget that.
He is incredibly misunderstood because he is both the hero and the villain, before that he is a Boy who knows that because the curse of Ymir he'll due soon, we must remember that

I like how these post-episode analyses are getting longer over time. Having a bit more of your thoughts on things definitely feels nice and will probably cause more and more people to come to the channel. People usually respect reactors who genuinely care about what they're watching rather than just watching what's popular, and the commentary like that shows that you care.
I like the fact you are one of the only reaction channels to not jump right into hating Gabi. She had every reason to feel rage and want revenge. Sasha meant nothing to her, she was just an enemy combatant.
So many people refuse to empathise with the Marelyan perspective. It's frustrating really.

Facts. Even though I was gutted by Sasha’s death, I couldn’t hate Gabi because I knew that she had been taught that these people were devils and was raised to kill them.
I never hated Gaby, but I did feel despair. I was in despair because one of my favorite girls had died. Because her killer, who I've also grown to really like, had absolutely no idea what she was doing.
I only felt despair by the fact that I couldn't bring myself to hate her.

(And Sasha is by far my favorite character of AOT, so I can't not hate the one who killed her.)
However later when she matured and learned that everything she's been told about devils from Paradis were propaganda, she decided to fully inherit what Sasha left behind, and now, even if I don't like her, I don't hate her anymore.

If we talk about Eren, I can say that Eren was already dead inside at the end of the third season. There was no emotion on his face when they finally came to the ocean, where he pointed to the ocean and said something like, "If everyone overseas who wants to harm us dies, will we be free?"
I think he started beaing this way when he had to fight Annie. In order to do it he had to loose some od his humanity. And after that it only got worse. Until he is almost empty inside.

Just my interpretation:
During this season most of the people started hating eren, just by judging what was visible on the outside, but even at this point in the show I believed that eren had some big reasons, some that are known to us and some that are still unknown.
And I still believe that he's the same eren, our eren.....I mean it has to be it....He's the same guy who saw his mother being eaten,the same guy who became the thing he hated the most, the same guy who had to go through the guilt of eating his own father, the same guy who lost most of his comrades, the same guy who got betrayed by his comrades, he even lost his uncle like figure Hannes. He would have probably seen many of the future events in his memories (such as sasha's death) and had to relive them. And now he has to act emotionless towards the people whom he loved the most.
Damn it Isayama!Eren is really a tragic character man.
Give him a break.....You've got to have balls bigger than the collassal titan to be what eren is right now!
I've not read the manga but from what I interpreted, I believe that eren is dying of guilt(in the inside)from whatever he did and will have to do in future, but yeah...maybe he has no other choice, maybe what he's doing has to be done by somebody, he's the one who has to end this cycle of hatred and revenge.
I don't know what the story holds ahead, but I believe in eren. Whatever happens I entrust it to eren :' )

I never saw Eren's reaction to Sasha's death as a laugh. More like the fact that her last words were "meat" was so her and I think he thought to himself "of course her last words are meat". The look on his face at the end really confirmed my viewing of his reaction as pure horror of how actual and real her death is. I think he didn't want to see her because he knows it was his fault. Now that I know the ending I understand his reaction better but even at the time I was surprised that no one of his closest friends noticed the sorrow in his laugh and the terror in his eyes.

Season 4 is definitely the most emotionally draining and twisted. It makes you feel sympathy for people that have done horrible things. But you understand their motivations so everything that happens is just heartbreaking. Eren is probably one of my all time favorite characters. Such a tragic story for a character ever! It’ll all make sense!

I didn't know whether I liked Gabi after this. But I realized that she honestly had every reason to kill Sasha. It was completely justified. Sasha killed her guard friends right in front of her, and that was her revenge.

I was equally as devastated watching this episode last year yet I could never bring myself to hate Gabi for it. How could I? She's a brainwashed kid traumatized by the same cycle of violence that brought Eren to where he is now, and he would've done the same thing if given the chance. At the end of the day I just wanna give all the characters in this show a big hug and therapy. It's what they deserve.
Note how vague is Eren here. His expression and emotion towards hearing Sasha's death is so divisive and hard to understand.
Keep in mind the way he laugh-cried the death of Hannes in the second season finale.
Characters that saw Eren laugh at Sasha's death aren't aware how he reacted when he lost Hannes.
You really have to keep that in mind here...for the later episodes.
Why was eren not moved to hear sasha was dying, and why did he get so sad and pained when he heard her last words from conny.

The confusion on the episodes title to the worry when Sasha looked back when hearing Gabi arrive, then the questioning the moment of tension after the shot to staring blankly after seeing it was Sasha who was shot. Then you question what you saw after seeing Sasha get shot, shake your head in denial, and replay the scene. I’ve seen the reaction to this episode many times, but this is by far the best reaction and one of your best reactions while watching aot. Not because you were silent and had nothing to say, but just seeing all those emotions cycle through you was amazing. Other than anger, you really went through the 5 stages of grief.
I feel like this anime reaction series has become more of an anime analysis and I love it. To hear the thoughts and opinions of a relatively new anime watcher and to see him break down the show, getting detail that many have missed is insane to me. Not only this but through his analysis he's able to draw up a logical conclusion. Personally I could never do that, but after listening it's changed my perspective on how to watch anime and how many different things can be see through one thing.

I really love how you took this episode. The hate what Gabi got was HUGE after this. Like yeah, I loved Sasha too but Gabi doesn't know any better and was raised to hate Paradis people. Her friends and people were killed in front of her so she acted like most of people would do in situation like that. Gabi was ready to just shoot anyone there and Sasha just happened to stand just in wrong place at wrong time.

But upon briefly watching the intro part, I actually paused it and instead, watched your reaction to anime openings for the first time. WELL HERE WE ARE AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I want to say, I'm quite happy that you *don't* hate Gabi. I get it, I loved Sasha too, but Gabi is basically a mini Eren. Her reaction is basically the exact same Eren had when Reiner and Bertolt attacked Shiganshina. If you reversed the characters and Gabi was the main one and Eren was Gabi, it'd be the same thing; people would hate Eren. Hating Gabi makes sense because of Sasha, but she's s1 Eren without the character development he's had. I can't wait for you to see the rest of part 1 and 2 for S4 cause honestly, the BAR KEEPS RISING WITH EACH EPISODE.
