The only thing from those things they announced that I'm worried is I believe that the prizepool includes the 1v1 tourneys, which means, 3v3s won't have an increase on prizepool
I'm expecting it to be 1/3 of the 3v3 prize pool. Like how #1 at worlds 3v3 got $300k, i'd expect 1v1 to get $100k. A 50% increase more than makes up for that, but we'll see how it works out in a few months
For the last chance qualifiers, i thought literally anyone from the region that earns the spot can try to qualify? I remember on the desk them saying that.
the lack of a 2/3rds rule or anything like that is disappointing, but not unexpected. This is only going to make the situation of "import" players worse for NA (Dig looking to fully rebuild around an import player) along with APAC and then the whole "remote play" situation with SSA
na is meant to be a major region so while i do understand it's annoying, and i think the 2/3rd should be applied in every region, it's kinda their fault lol, just get better. it wholeheartedly agree tho, eu teams should not be able to just play from home and go through ssa tourneys. adding requirements to live in the region would be nice as well, but idk if they're gonna do so.
@@swagie_i mean, its not like the imports have had huge impacts in general. Only two of them have ever been good. Appjack and noly had a flash in the pan and the goat of the esport came over to complete a superteam. Otherwise theyve been completely unsuccessful
Its such a refreshing change to see them announce plans already. Last time it felt like there was no communication until the last minute, with even the pros and orgs saying "we don't know what's happening" . I don't know if this is Blast, Epic or Psyonix but it's extremely welcome.
So much yes to this! Glad to see Blast taking it seriously and it seems like they've learned a lot, and now that they have time to plan properly, RLCS is growing again. Love it.
I genuinely don't like that the top 8 auto qual. Top 4 or 6 would be fine, but top 8??? You're telling me that teams like shopify, Dig, tc, and suhh would've auto qualed for a regional even though they've proven that they can lose on any givin weekend against top 32-128 teams??? Also Kcorp is the ONLY TOP TEAM that didnt attend a regional. Its not like teams from every region are missing regionals because they lose to the format. This open format PREVENTS teams like rizzo, kep, and Turbo from appearing in regionals because they dont play the best rocket league.
@@wiatt7533 as an OCE player, I am excited to watch all regions cause tbh there is no minor regions in 1s, seeing if someone can upset in mena or the OCE freestylers can stop the BHead
Still only 2 majors. The RLCS season is mostly waiting for meaningful rocket league at this point.... Unless they change the point system? We're looking at knowing the vast majority of teams qualified into worlds befire a single game at major 2 was played. Some cool stuff but still disappointed
How do you think RLCS should handle the off season and helping give orgs a reason to stay through the year and profit or is that more on the orgs to adjust their marketing and revenue strategies to be profitable over the year?
Not gonna lie the first split sounds kinda meh taking into account that on the 1s scene EU will probably dominate heavily as there is only like 4 or 5 good 1s players in the SAM scene. However I cant wait for split 2 NA vs MENA in the biggest stage is going to be NUTS
There won't be inter-region matchups during the online qualifiers. The winner of SAM online qualifier will play against the winner of EU online qualifier at the major 1 on LAN.
the 1v1 online qualifiers are within their region only. So there wont be any cross between EU or SAM. And in the major its the #1 player from EU vs #1 player from SAM and even though sam has less no of great players in 1v1, the great players they have are all cracked and therefore will defininetly be a good 1v1 match in the major.
Nah automatically getting to go to the qualifier is insane. Thats like saying if the Kansas City Chiefs spent the most money on players they automatically make playoffs. Its a pathetic handout imo. Karmine probably cried to the organizers because they couldnt make it and im glad they didnt. If they were good enough that day they wouldve made it...
@@ace_rlg I'm sure Karmine complained to Psyonix and justifiably so. They spent money on a roster and they make their money through marketing and so any org who fields a roster is paying into our esport. What is the negative? If they're not world class they drop out and stop getting their bids into the swiss and if they are it's just more reason for them spending marketing money. All positives that I see since there are still 8 teams that can play in.
@michaelutz9649 I just don't find it fair. Like I said it's like saying any nfl team spent more than another so they automatically get playoffs. They wouldn't even play until playoffs which is basically what's happening. The problem here is that its less high level rocket league games being played in open quals which leads to less viewership which is bad for the rlcs as a whole imo. But that's why they added the 1v1 tourney ig. I'm not super against this new old format but I did like the new one and I don't find it to be a bad thing if a team spends a bunch of money and loses. It happens all the time. Karmine Corp shouldn't have lost so at the end of the day that's on them
@hoon-kay4840 then that's their fault for paying players more than they're worth. This is a huge problem in esports. The money that all these players want just isn't there because the viewership isn't there. But what your saying is less opportunity for the little guy is good because other people pay more. Which is just morally wrong imo. If they pay all this money their players should've played better. The NFL didn't get where it is by paying players more than they're worth. They waited for viewership and the money to come in then you pay the players. Maybe orgs shouldn't promise what they don't have or can't have unless they make more money. That's a terrible business model.
Well the difference is the nfl has media rights ect , that payout to every team involved in some capacity if a rl organization fails to qualify especially a bigger organization they are basically screwed for funding the rest of the season esports financially is not anywhere near the sustainability as major sports leagues.

Pretty cool changes especially 1v1
It kills me to see 1v1 coming to RLCS at a time where Khalid, Fairy and Scrub likely won't compete
